Chapter 115: The Appearance of The Sun

The Tamara Family Council had already prepared to send someone to investigate the recent incident. After all, two Sequence 6 individuals died under mysterious circumstances, and such a matter certainly required investigation.

Moreover, one of the two Sequence 6 victims, a Judge, had been a promising junior in the eyes of a council member, and the father of the Baron of Corruption also held some influence within the family.

Initially, they had assigned them this simple task to help them gain experience, but they ended up dead in Backlund.

This put a lot of pressure on Alva. There was no way he could avoid the council's responsibility inquiry. He could only hope to uncover the truth before the investigators arrived, which might lead to a more lenient outcome.

But what he had discovered so far left him wondering how he would explain it to the higher-ups. Was he supposed to tell them that their people were killed by the Nighthawks?

Even if this were true, the higher-ups would never believe it.

What else could he say? After all, they were dealing with a church where a True God existed, and the Tamara Family was merely a family of Beyonders that had been hidden in the shadows of history for over a thousand years.

Alva took a deep drag on his cigar and reviewed the information again. "So, the location where they were killed was on Rosette Street, correct?"

Boris responded, "That's the assumption. However…"

He continued, "However, the other party seems to have strong anti-divination abilities. We couldn't find a single clue."

Alva found this curious. "I'm just wondering, how did that family traitor named Apton manage to find so many powerful helpers?"

To silently eliminate two Sequence 6 individuals would require at least three to four Sequence 6 individuals, or one Sequence 5 individual. Otherwise, no matter how powerful the opponent's Sealed Artifacts were, it would be impossible for no one to survive.

Boris speculated, "Perhaps Apton has already joined some Beyonder organization."

"Maybe it's the Loen Royal Family!" Alva thought this was a reasonable explanation. To avoid drawing attention from the Loen Royal Family, the family's influence in Backlund didn't include any Mid-Sequence Arbiter Pathway Beyonders.

But in this recent operation, a Judge had shown up!

That explained it. For such a decisive victory in this Beyonder battle, the other side must have had a powerful Mid-Sequence Beyonder holding the line.

And Backlund was the Loen Royal Family's home turf.

Alva and Boris exchanged glances, agreeing that this theory could be reported.

On Monday morning, Hobert arrived at the law firm and reported to Barton about Mr. Stan's case.

He also had the driver deliver the jerky and wild vegetables he had previously received to Barton.

Barton smiled, "Another 'tip' from a client?"

Hobert nodded, "It's a token of appreciation for my work."

Barton handed Hobert a more complex case. "I'll let you handle this one."

Hobert took a look at it—it was a business dispute. Such cases were usually straightforward and didn't interest him much. He was about to refuse when he noticed something. "This is a case in Tingen City?"

"Yes," Barton replied. "The trial is some time away, and it doesn't conflict with the two cases you're currently working on. However, you should prepare for a business trip. I recommend you head to Tingen City by next Wednesday."

Hobert put away the file. "Alright."

He wondered if this was fate pushing him to go to Tingen City. Otherwise, why would a reason to go there fall into his lap like this?

Hobert chuckled. Even without this case, he would have made a trip to Tingen City; otherwise, it would have been a regret.

The entire morning, Hobert went into "slack mode," sitting at his desk, "diligently" reading through files.

By noon, Hobert reflected that occasional slacking off was beneficial to mental health.

In the afternoon, as usual for a Monday, he went to "visit clients" and participated in the Tarot Club at exactly three o'clock.

Upon arriving at the grand hall once again, Hobert suddenly realized there was a new figure seated in his row!

The Sun had joined the Tarot Club!

Indeed, "The Fool" Klein introduced him: "This is the new member, The Sun. This is Miss Justice, this is Mr. Hanged Man, and this is Mr. Emperor."

Derrick Berg, The Sun, nodded slightly to everyone, acknowledging the introductions.

"Justice" Audrey had already activated her Spectator abilities, carefully observing this new member.

Alger "The Hanged Man" was speculating what made this new member special. Ever since The Emperor had joined the Tarot Club, Alger no longer questioned The Fool's motives or judgment in selecting members.

Since The Fool valued The Emperor's knowledge, what did He see in The Sun?

Only Hobert remained calm, wondering if he should flatter The Fool and make it appear as if he already knew that The Sun was from the Forsaken Territory of the Gods.

That would make it easier to establish trade in Beyonder materials, buying from The Sun and selling them through Gal, thus creating a streamlined service.

Unfortunately, The Fool's Express Delivery hadn't been established yet, and The Sun didn't use gold pounds. What would they use to measure their transactions?

As for revealing that he knew something about the Forsaken Territory of the Gods, if this were any other gathering, not even in the Justice League, Hobert wouldn't expose his wealth of knowledge. But since he understood The Fool, he wasn't worried about being "cleaned up."

After introducing the new member, the gathering officially began.

Audrey had found two pages of Roselle's diary and hoped to trade them for information on the Telepathist potion formula.

Derrick, clueless as usual, asked, "The Telepathist potion formula? Does it lead to Psyche Analyst?"

Audrey looked at him in confusion. "You know?"

At the same time, her instincts as a Spectator picked up on something odd: Derrick had used the ancient term for Sequence 7—Psyche Analyst—instead of the more modern Psychiatrist!

That's strange... Audrey scrutinized The Sun's every move once more.

Derrick, unaware that he had said anything unusual, replied earnestly, "I can get that formula for you!"

After saying that, he felt guilty because he couldn't provide it immediately and hurriedly explained, "This Sequence originates from the Dragon Race, and our City of Silver was once ruled by the Giant King's Court.

"You know, giants and dragons are mortal enemies, so the formulas for Sequences 9, 8, and 7 are available in the City of Silver. I have a way to get them."

Hobert smiled faintly. In the end, The Sun was still an inexperienced youth who hadn't faced the "hard knocks of society." His words had revealed a lot of information.

Giant King's Court? Dragon Race? City of Silver?

Audrey was completely bewildered. She glanced at The Hanged Man, noticing that he was equally shocked and confused.

Then she looked at The Emperor, who remained as composed as ever.

Mr. Emperor knows about the City of Silver!

That was Audrey and Alger's shared conclusion.

But Audrey didn't know how to broach the subject with Mr. Emperor, so she instead asked The Sun, "City of Silver? I've never heard of this place… Where is it?"

Now it was Derrick's turn to be surprised. "You... You're not from the City of Silver? Which city-state are you from?"

The hall fell into a brief silence.

After a few seconds, Hobert finally spoke. "I've read about a Kingdom of Silver in books. If I'm not mistaken, are you from a land abandoned by the gods?"

The hall plunged into an even more eerie silence.
