Chapter 4: Chapter 3
ANYA POINT OF VIEW
"What are you going to do to us?!"
"Have mercy!" I shouted when the man pointed a gun at my head.
"Please, no!" I closed my eyes, accepting that it was all over for me.
"Robert!" I opened my eyes when another man arrived. I looked at Adrian and Tessa, who were unconscious. I thought they were dead, but they were still alive.
"Anya!" I woke up to a shout that seemed like it had been trying to wake me up for a while.
"Oh, it's you, Sab," Sabrina's worried expression was evident.
"What's wrong? I've been trying to wake you up for a while, you were sleeping so deeply." Sabrina and Tessa are the same person; she just changed her name because "Tessa" wasn't unique and held too many memories.
"I was asleep late searching for information about the Secret Protection Agency." That agency always interrupts our transactions.
"Because it's secret, so no clues. What's wrong with you, Anya, you're so stupid." I wanted to slap her, but she's my best friend and has been with me since I was a kid, so I didn't know what else to do with her.
"You're really crazy, this task is my responsibility and I need to get that information." Our transactions always fail because of that damn organization.
"Yeah, right." She handed me a folder.
"Another task?"
"Just read it. By the way, come with me to the bar later because we won't be able to do that once we complete this task."
"Okay." She left my room, and I sat in the swivel chair.
I opened the folder containing our next mission. We have many lined-up missions, including going to the port area to trade for arms.
After I read all the tasks I left my room. Sabrina and I live in the same condominium.
"Have you read it yet?" I nodded.
"You're also being sent to the site to check." I wanted to complain about why I had to be the one to go to the site.
"Why does it have to be me?"
"You're the boss's favorite." I really don't know why I'm the favorite of our top boss.
I haven't even seen his shadow, but I'm still thankful to him, and at the same time, he's the reason for who I am today.
******************
I went to the site, which doesn't look like an illegal place at all. High-ranking officials manage it, so they can easily be bribed. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
"Good morning, Ma'am Anya." I ignored the organization's staff greeting me.
From the outside, this place looks like just another facility. When I arrived at the main office, I was met with piles and piles of drugs.
"Is this what we're delivering later?" The staff here nodded. I ordered them to weigh everything carefully because it's difficult and might cause trouble.
After I finished everything, I left and headed to where the others in our group usually hang out. I was still far away, but I could see them loitering on the corner. This is what I hate the most because I see my old self, which I should have buried in oblivion a long time ago.
"Your payment is short!" Berto's group was extorting the street vendors here.
"Our earnings are small, sir. Our daily expenses will be lacking if we give..."
"That's not our problem anymore!"
"That's enough, Bert," they stopped when they saw me.
"Anya, is that you? Does the boss have any orders?" I gave him the address where they had a job to do.
"Thanks!"
I immediately left the area because too many memories come flooding back when I stay there too long.
*****
When I arrived at the condo, I quickly got ready. Sabrina and I were going to the club. She was just going to pick me up here. I had no idea where she went, or maybe she also had a task.
I chose a dress that suited me. I wanted a red dress, but it was too attention-seeking. So I settled for this black dress with a slit on the side. I also wore my knee-high boots, tied up my hair, and left a few curly strands framing my face.
I didn't even wait for 10 minutes when my condominium door buzzed. I immediately went out because I knew it was Sabrina.
"Hello, girl," she was wearing a gold dress tonight.
"We look great tonight, don't you think Adrian will get mad?" I joked with her.
"He's got nothing to do with that, and does he even know us anymore?" I'm not sure if she still likes Adrian up to this day.
But Sabrina has changed so much now; she's no longer the Tessa I knew. She's literally transformed, and many guys have cried because of her. She's become a total playgirl. I never thought she'd become like this, as she's completely different from the girl she was when we were kids.
Adrian is assigned abroad, and it's been years since we've seen or been with him. We also don't know if he's forbidden from communicating with us or if he's simply forgotten us.
Our car stopped in front of a club resort near our condominium. Sabrina and I often come here when we're bored or want to have fun. I checked the time on my phone, and it's already midnight.
Sabrina and I entered together, and we could hear the noise from afar. I immediately got drinks as I bumped into a waiter. Many people were on the dance floor, including Sabrina. Yes, as soon as we arrived, she went straight to the center.
I quickly finished a glass of liquor and chased after the waiter to get another one. The heat spread through my throat as I downed the new drink the waiter gave me. I felt warm, and my vision suddenly blurred.
"What? Don't tell me I'm drunk already?" I'm used to drinking, so I couldn't believe the liquor hit me that fast.
I thought of going to the dance floor and joining the others. Maybe it would make my headache and dizziness go away. I didn't know what I was doing anymore, but I felt someone touch my waist.
"Hey!" I looked at him. His nose was sharp, and his lips were red. Why wasn't my vision blurred when I looked at his face? His voice was deep, and it had a strong impact on me. It sounded great to my ears. Maybe I'm going crazy, and this is the result of the liquor. I've never been interested in guys before.
I stared at him, and it was as if I was hypnotized by his gaze. His blonde hair made him even more attractive. My throat dried up when my eyes fell on his red lips.
"Damn it, Anya! Control what you're feeling; this isn't you!" I tried to be strong, but my feelings grew hotter.
I think I bit my lower lip when I saw his collarbone. I immediately grabbed him and kissed him. I was like a thirsty person craving for him. Is this what Sabrina told me about before?
Gosh! He's my first kiss! I couldn't accept that I didn't even know the person I first kissed. We weren't just kissing; his lips were soft and warm. They parted slightly, allowing my tongue to slip inside. I could smell his cologne, which made me even more addicted to him, wanting to be closer. I didn't know who I was anymore. I didn't care about my surroundings. It was as if I couldn't hear the noisy environment. It felt like we had our own world.
I couldn't stop the passionate kiss that was drowning me even more. I know I want so much more of him, I want all of him, but it's not possible. I immediately pushed him away to snap out of what I was doing. He looked surprised, but his expression quickly changed, as if nothing happened, and his eyes became cold.
"Anya!" I looked at Sabrina. I didn't bother to look at the guy I kissed again. I felt like my face was burning, and my whole face was heating up. I was embarrassed about what I did, even though nobody here at the club cares.
It's a good thing Sabrina didn't see what I did earlier. I know she'll tease me to the point of reminding me of all the lectures I gave her when she was with guys.
"Who was that guy earlier? He's handsome!" She's still gushing.
Sabrina and I went home to our condo. We only stay briefly when we go clubbing because we can't be late in the morning. Especially since our Big Boss has a lot of tasks for us, and he knows almost all our movements.
I'm still thinking about what happened earlier. What if I couldn't control myself? Who knows where we would have ended up with that guy? Why did he have such a strong impact on me? Something was definitely wrong with what I did earlier!
