Chapter 8: Chapter 7
Anya arrived just as her grandfather was about to leave.
"Grandpa, where are you going?"
"Oh dear, you bought so many things. There's only two of us eating." Anya had bought canned goods, mineral water, and meat.
Luckily, some kids who were playing earlier helped her carry the rest of her groceries. She gave them a bag of chocolates, so they followed her instructions quickly.
"Grandpa, this is enough. I eat a lot," Anya replied with a smile. After arranging her groceries, Anya entered the yard and put them on the long wooden table.
"I also bought your vitamins, and from now on, we'll be drinking mineral water."
"Your grandfather is still strong, why bother buying all those things? Won't you run out of money?"
"That's not important. What's important is your health. By the way, where are you going?" Anya noticed her grandfather was wearing a long-sleeved shirt, jogging pants, and a straw hat.
"Today's the corn harvest. I'll help them so we can get our share. So we can finally install electricity." Anya wanted to stop her grandfather, especially since he's old. But it seemed he was used to doing this.
She busied herself arranging her groceries. She checked the pot where she cooked rice and saw it was almost empty. She wondered what the old man ate and saw he had fried eggplant.
She planned to buy fish, cause they had plenty of vegetables around to add to it. However, she thought of her grandfather, who rarely gets to eat meat, so she decided to buy meat instead.
After cooking, Anya decided to bring lunch to her grandfather. She knew where the cornfield was, as she could see it from their living room window.
When she arrived, she saw many people gathering under a large tree. Some were counting corn, while others were resting. As she approached, they couldn't help but stare at her.
She smiled and looked for her grandfather, but couldn't find him.
"Have you seen lolo Ronaldo?"
"Ah, hija, he went to the small lake to hunt a fish." She went to the lake, which was small and looked like a puddle of rainwater.
Her grandfather was fishing with someone, and they were laughing together.
"Lolo, I brought you lunch." The two of them turned to face her. She was shocked to see who was with her grandfather - the man with ash-gray eyes.
"Oh dear, you went so much trouble to bringing this," the old man said, noticing that Anya and Oliver had exchanged glances.
"Apo, this is...?"
"Christian," the young man interrupted Ronaldo, and Anya nodded slightly, trying to ignore the man.
But she was confused, feeling like she had met him before, but couldn't remember where or when. The young man left quickly, answering a call on his phone.
"Lolo, this place is beautiful." While they were eating beside the small lake, waiting for her grandfather to catch some fish.
"It's beautiful, but living like this is hard."
"City life is even harder," Anya said softly.
Despite all she had been through, she would still prefer to live this simple life rather than the one she grew up with.
"Did something bad happen to you there?" Her grandfather asked, noticing her hesitation.
Anya shake her head slightly, not wanting to worry him. Besides, she wasn't the real Anya, and she had no idea what the real Anya's life was like in the city. Maybe it was better, since she never even thought of visiting her father and grandfather.
"Let's just eat." After they finished eating, they returned to the cornfield.
There were people around Anya's age, but it was clear from their faces that they were envious of her. They envied her beauty and the fact that she didn't have to experience the hardships they did. The old man harvested a basket of corn.
"Lolo, where will you sell these?"
"It depends if Sir Oliver will buy them or not."
She helped him carry the load.
"Lolo, where's the waterfall you told me about?" She wanted to swim there, especially since it was so hot and the water was surely cold. She had never swum in a waterfall before, so when her grandfather mentioned it, she wanted to see it.
"It's after the Carter's house, just follow the stream beside the road and you'll see it quickly."
When they reached the house, Anya said goodbye and headed to the falls. She was excited to experience new things she had never done before. She happily walked along the road and soon heard the sound of water falling in the distance.
In her excitement, she quickened her pace. Large rocks greeted her at the entrance of the falls, and she could see the water falling in the distance. She was thrilled to find that she was alone.
"I hope there aren't any leeches or snakes here, right?"
She sat on a large rock, gradually getting wet from the splashing water of the falls. She removed her clothes, leaving only a thin, long dress that covered her body. She dove into the icy water, and when her dress got wet, the curves of Anya's body and the color of her underwear were visible. She savored the cold water and swam.
When she emerged from the water, she suddenly saw Oliver. The young man had been there all along, but Anya hadn't noticed him because he was hidden behind a large rock.
"Pervert! What are you doing here?" Anya quickly submerged her body in the water, embarrassed to be seen. She was used to wearing sexy dresses before, but she didn't know why she was suddenly shy around this man.
She swallowed hard as he emerged from the water, revealing his six-pack abs.
'No, it really does look like he has eight abs.' Anya said to herself.
She mentally slapped herself for thinking that way. She had never been attracted to a man before, so why was she having this reaction now? She couldn't avoid locking eyes with the young man. She felt weak when she saw his ash-gray eyes, especially in the bright sunlight.
She bit her lower lip, trying to composed herself as he stood right in front of her and wiping his body by the towel.
'What's wrong with me? Am I really attracted to this guy?' Anya asked herself.
"What are you doing?" Anya asked, unable to help herself.
"Obviously, I'm drying my body," he replied. Anya looked away, busying herself with washing up.
She had brought shampoo, intending to wash up right here at the falls. She'd just rinse off quickly when she got home. She couldn't bring herself to look back, knowing the young man was still there.
