Luffy Twin Brother: The Monkey King

Chapter 37: Chapter 37

Enel knew firsthand what it meant to be an outcast. On Skypiea, everyone had wings—the Skypieans, the Shandians (Natives), and even those from the distant islands in the sky. Everyone… except him.

From the moment he was born, he was different. And for that, he was treated as less than nothing. His parents, too ashamed to claim a wingless child, cast him out the same day he was born, discarding him like a mistake never meant to exist.

He should have died… But an old man took him in—the only one who showed him kindness. He raised Enel, gave him a name, and told him that even without wings, he could still soar.

And for a time, Enel believed him. But the world had no mercy for someone like him. Years later, when disaster struck, the people of Skypiea needed someone to blame. It didn't matter if Enel was guilty or not—he was the easiest target.

The mob came for him, enraged, ready to erase the wingless freak from their world. The old man, the one person who had ever cared for him, stood in their way. And died for it.

That was the day Enel stopped believing. That was the day he hated them all.

If they saw him as nothing without wings… then he would rise above them. If they thought he was beneath them, then he would rule over them. If they refused to see him as their equal… Then he would make them kneel.

Enel cursed himself for being weak. For being powerless. For being nothing. The day the only person who had ever cared for him died, he realized the truth—without power, he was just prey.

That was when he found it. The Rumble-Rumble no Mi.

The moment he took a bite, everything changed. Power surged through his body, lightning crackling at his fingertips, bending to his will. He wasn't weak anymore. He wasn't helpless. He had evolved. And in that moment, he knew—he wasn't just a man anymore. He was a god.

The first thing he did with his newfound divinity? He returned to the people who had stolen everything from him. The ones who had mocked him cast him aside, taken away the only person who had ever given a damn. And he made them kneel.

It wasn't long before he overthrew Gan Fall, seizing the title of God of Skypiea. It was his right. His destiny. Because without that power… without that title… He was nothing but the weak, powerless boy from five years ago. And that? That was something he would never be again… or live again.

Enel remained on his knees, his head bowed, the arrogance and pride that once defined him now stripped away. His voice was quiet, almost fragile.

"Please, let me join your crew." There was no demand, no godly proclamation—just a simple request.

He had seen true power, true strength. And it wasn't just about ability—it was about vision. Kong had something Enel lacked. If following him meant growing stronger, if it meant truly becoming something greater than a false god ruling over a small kingdom, then so be it.

Kong's Mantra stretched out, locking onto Enel, reading the emotions buried beneath his words. Kong turned, walking back toward him, his eyes sharp. "Can I trust my life to you?"

Kong studied Enel carefully, the sincerity in his words undeniable. His Mantra picked up no hesitation, no deceit—only raw devotion and desperation.

"My life is yours to command," Enel continued, his voice steady despite the tears streaming down his face. "So long as I draw breath, I will not let any harm come to you… for my dream is to become a god. What kind of god would I be if I failed my captain?"

Kong was stunned. He hadn't expected such words, such absolute loyalty.

But to Enel, this was natural. His entire life had been about proving his worth, about rising above those who cast him aside. If he couldn't become a god, then he would follow the one man who had seen a true god. Something deep within him told him, Kong had met a god.

And if following Kong was the price to reach that same power… then Enel would pay it without hesitation.

"… Well, I can't make the call on you joining my crew. Let's go speak to Robin. If she accepts your apology, you're in. If not… then this is goodbye," Kong said, turning to head toward Robin's location—only to realize he had no idea where that was.

"Y-you should lead the way," Kong admitted awkwardly. Enel gave him a long, unimpressed look before silently raising a hand and pointing to the side. There, the blurry figures of Zoro… and even Luffy could be seen in the distance.

"You don't have a good sense of direction," Enel remarked.

"Shut up, mind your own business," Kong shot back, irritation clear on his face as he started walking in the direction Enel had pointed. However, after only a few steps, Enel watched as Kong subtly began veering off to the right.

With a sigh, Enel continued forward. "I'm capable of using Mantra alongside my Devil Fruit, which significantly increases my range," he explained.

Realizing he had already gone off course, Kong quickly fell in step behind him, muttering under his breath.

What Enel was explaining was simple—his Mantra was significantly enhanced by his Devil Fruit, making him nearly omniscient across Skypiea.

The Rumble Rumble no Mi allowed him to pick up electromagnetic waves from the air, enabling him to eavesdrop on conversations and perceive everything happening around him with an extraordinary range. Unlike the other priests, who could only sense those nearby, Enel's abilities extended across nearly all of Skypiea, making him pretty much an all-knowing god.

"That's overpowered… and you wasted your time up here." Kong clicked his tongue, unimpressed by how Enel had used his abilities.

From what Enel had said, Mantra didn't naturally allow people to eavesdrop—his ability to do so was a unique trait gained through his Devil Fruit. Adding that to his immense range, it was an impressive skill, but Kong figured there had to be others down in the Blue Sea with Mantra strong enough to rival it. So, while it was remarkable, he wasn't completely shocked.

"Oh, I can also hear sound with my Mantra," Kong added casually, to which Enel shook his head.

"Not that type of hearing. Normally, people who use Mantra describe the presences they sense as voices," Enel explained. "What others hear is the hearts of those around them… but I can hear the actual words being spoken."

{A/N: Coby wasn't hearing the people's screams, but more like sensing the feelings and emotions. Only Future Sight allows the person to hear… as well as Enel devil fruit.}

"No, I could hear the words being spoken through my Mantra. I just had to train for a few hours to do it," Kong said, certain of what he had experienced.

"Oh… WHAT?!" Enel's expression twisted in disbelief, his mind struggling to process what he just heard.

"Yeah, I guess hearing stuff using Haki isn't that special… why am I even listening to a frog at the bottom of a well?" Kong shot Enel a look of disdain.

Enel froze mid-step, completely stunned, his entire worldview cracking in real-time.

Enel dragged himself forward, his self-esteem in shambles. A part of him hesitated, second-guessing his decision to become a pirate. If Kong was right, if he was truly nothing compared to the powerhouses of the Blue Sea, did he even want to find out?

"Accept your flaws," Kong said calmly, his tone steady but firm. "It's understandable—you've never seen the rest of the world. But once you do, once you can fight with an unstoppable spirit, you might become worthy of calling yourself a god. But this version of you? The one who crumbles so easily, who almost gives up? That version will never be a god."

Enel's eyes widened at those words. His shoulders tensed before he straightened up, determination flickering in his gaze.

"Even if things look hopeless, you must stand tall," Kong said firmly. "If the fight is worth fighting, then you fight until you win. If you don't have that in you—if you don't have the guts to stand up the way everyone back there stood against you—then give up now. If you can't do what those you looked down on did… you have no right to even dream of being a god."

Enel gritted his teeth, his fists clenching at his sides. The weight of Kong's words pressed down on him, forcing him to confront the truth.

"I promise you… I will never give up," Enel declared, his voice steady with newfound resolve.

Kong nodded in approval.
