Magic Era: The great Dungeon

Chapter 5: Three years

Days passed and Mr. Smith and Nim continued to train.

Sometimes Mr. Smith had to leave for a few days, and go to a branch of the guild to renew his mission.

After that he spent all his time training Nim and also going a little deeper into the forest to hunt monsters, thanks to that Nim's combat experience improved and he also leveled up.

Months and years passed until Nim turned 13 years old.

In these 3 years Nim's physical strength had grown enormously, even surpassing Mr. Smith if they only competed in brute strength.

Nim's level also increased, Mr. Smith couldn't see his level because Nim didn't have an ID card, but he should be around level 7 or 9.

Nim's level would have gone up more if they went deeper to hunt monsters, but going deeper into the forest was dangerous even for Mr. Smith.

In the end, the monsters that Nim killed couldn't make him level up much.

...

"Nim, today is the day you'll start your journey" the man looks at a young man who was almost the same height as him, this was Nim, if you saw him you'd think he was 15 or 16 years old.

They had already talked before that Nim would go to the capital city to become an adventurer.

At first, his parents and Mr. Smith thought that Nim would leave at 15, but Smith, seeing the strength that Nim had achieved in these 3 years, saw that he was ready, and staying longer in the village would only slow down Nim's progress.

"Yes, Uncle Smith" in these last three years, Nim and Mr. Smith had become familiar, that made him call him uncle and not master.

Also because Smith knew that sooner or later Nim would surpass him, and he could no longer teach him anything.

"Okay, since today is the day of your departure, I'll give you a gift" Smith hands him a sword that was on his waist, although this sword was not a magic one, it was very useful for the current Nim.

Nim receives the sword "Thank you Uncle Smith", it is true that Nim needed a good sword, the swords they used to hunt monsters were only made of iron, since they were not very good they wore out very quickly.

This sword he received was made of steel so it would last him longer.

"Well, you can also say goodbye to your parents or your friends" Smith turns around and walks away while saying goodbye with his back turned.

"Goodbye Uncle Smith", Nim knew that Uncle Smith did not like ceremonies, and he simply said goodbye like that.

After that simple farewell from Uncle Smith, Nim went home to see his parents, he had to say goodbye properly.

When he got home he saw his father in front of the house, next to him were his two childhood friends, next to them were some more villagers who had come to say goodbye to Nim.

Looking at those familiar faces Nim smiled, "father where is mother?"

"Your mother is at home, I didn't want to go out or I would make a scene" Nim's father knew his wife very well, so he understood her behavior.

"It's okay I'll go in and see her" entering the house Nim sees his mother in the kitchen with her back turned, "mother today I have to go", his mother hearing him stops what she was doing and turns around.

Nim's mother had tears in her eyes, she tries to dry them quickly but her tears wouldn't stop coming out.

In the end with tears in her eyes she approaches Nim and gives him a big hug.

In the end her little boy was already becoming a man and would have to leave one day.

"Mother, I will come back to visit you often" Nim tries to comfort her, still in his mother's embrace.

After a few minutes, his mother lets him go, "remember your words, you have to visit us often" then his mother says that he should take good care of himself, like with his food and other things, and finally that he should always try to stay safe on his adventures.

Nim listens attentively until his mother stops, "well, you still have to say goodbye to your father and your friends."

Nim's mother turns around and continues doing her things, she is afraid that if she keeps seeing her son, she will not let him go.

.....

Outside the father and the others were waiting when they saw Nim leave the house, "I already said goodbye to mother" Nim approaches his father, seeing that, Nim's father squeezes his shoulders.

"I'm sure your mother said everything I have to say, just don't forget to visit us."

Nim nods firmly, after his father's words he fixes his gaze on his two childhood friends, in the last 3 years they had seen each other less, since Nim spent most of his time training.

Leo had also grown but he was not as tall as Nim and Fauna had also grown taller but was still shorter than Leo, and she was already beginning to acquire certain features of a young lady.

Nim upon seeing these two old friends smiles brightly, "Nim I wish you good luck, come back often and tell us your adventures" Leo is the first to break the silence.

"Yes, I will do it for sure, it's a promise" Nim had made many promises today because he was sure he would return.

After that, Fauna seemed like he wanted to say something but in the end he gave up "Nim, when you come back, I will tell you something important" Fauna put on a serious expression.

"Of course" Nim nodded again to Fauna, seeing all this, Nim's father suspected something but just smiled.

"Thank you all for coming to see me off, I Nim promise to come back" With a loud voice Nim addressed the other villagers, after the other villagers said some farewell words Nim left.

Nim headed to the outskirts of the town, there was a route here where caravans passed carrying merchandise from town to town or between other cities.

Uncle Smith had agreed with an old friend who was a merchant to take Nim to the capital.

The merchant would pass by this route today, Nim just had to wait.

After 1 hour of sitting on a rock, Nim hears the sound of horses, when he turns he sees the shadow of the caravan approaching near where he was.

Nim, seeing this, gets up and makes signs from the side, the driver of the caravan, seeing this, stops.

"Are you the person they sent me to pick up?" The middle-aged driver asks Nim without much emotion.

"Yes, I'm Nim" the latter introduces himself to the driver, "anyway, get in quickly, we have to meet up with the caravan" the driver urges Nim.

Nim, without further courtesies, gets in behind the caravan, when he gets in he sees how there are boxes with some kind of merchandise.

"Don't touch anything, just stay in a corner" the driver speaks again.

Nim obeys and stays in a corner in silence, Uncle Smith had told him that from his town to the capital it would take him 7 days, that included the moments of rest.

Nim had brought his own food rations for this long journey, and he had also brought some money, this money was what he had earned by killing monsters and wild beasts and selling them to the caravans that passed through his village throughout these last 3 years.

His parents had also given him some money and in addition to what Uncle Smith gave him, he could survive a week or two in the capital.

In that time he could properly settle in the capital so he could register with the Adventurer's Guild and be able to enter the dungeon.

With that plan in mind Nim began his journey.
