Chapter 232: Criminal Mastermind
"Shit!"
Bernard stumbled to the alleyway and slammed his fist against the brick wall.
It all failed miserably.
His plan was to convince Karma with money to make his son join his school. However, if it failed, he planned to kill Karma instead to turn Kiernan's attention away from the nationals.
That failed as well.
He could only hope that Karma wouldn't go to the Police Force, but also, he didn't have any proof that he even went to his room!
Except…
'That fucking gift box! They can track it back to me!'
Bernard breathed heavily, but then he tried to calm himself down and gritted his teeth.
'I've a few friends in the Police Force. They'll tell me if he goes there. Before they catch me, I'll escape and tell my friend to kill his son! Yes, I don't think he is foolish enough to do so.'
His 'friend' back in the boarding school of Gaul owed him a favor. It was a huge debt that the person wouldn't be able to pay in this lifetime.
Therefore, that 'friend' of his had no other choice than to do what Bernard ordered!
'I am so stupid. This all failed miserably!'
He didn't plan on his plan becoming so incredibly complex. His killing plan was to burn Karma's house with the rest of the evidence inside.
It would've been clean and easy.
'I could've drilled a hole into his head with the bullet, but that would've been loud. I could've been discovered, and some people might've witnessed me going into Karma's house!
'If they suddenly heard a gunshot and found out that Karma was shot dead, it was obvious they would connect it back to me!'
He kept breathing heavily, trying to think of another plan, but his mind was drawing a blank.
He wasn't some criminal mastermind!
"I…I must meet with that bastard Kiernan and try to convince him to join my school. The younglings are always attracted to money like flies.
"With him at my school, Karma has no other choice than to keep his mouth shut. I am sure the money he will receive from me will be enough to buy his silence!"
He nodded to himself, a solid plan forming in his mind.
'Yeah… this works!'
…
"That was weird…"
The phone call with his father, Karma, ended abruptly.
Kiernan looked at his phone, and with a frown, pocketed his phone before turning his gaze back to the soul fragment.
It had been a couple of days since he had slain the ghost of the soul fragment, and so far, he hadn't found any use for it except as decoration.
Tap! Tap!
"Huh?"
Kiernan looked at the window, opened the curtains, and saw a small-winged pigeon tapping on the glass.
'Oh…'
He opened the window, and the pigeon dropped the letter on the desk before taking a seat by Kiernan's pillow.
It was warm and soft. Therefore, it enjoyed sitting on it.
Kiernan opened the letter and started reading through it.
"Hey, my dear son.
"I read through your letter, and I agreed with what you said. I sent a letter to your father as well to give him closure. I hope what I wrote was enough.
"I have mixed emotions about that night I had with your father. I don't regret having a child, but also, I do wish that you would've had a proper family.
"I've been thinking about whether I should've married the person my father wanted me to. I don't know whether my baby boy would've been you or someone completely different, but maybe you would've had a proper family.
"The children of Abracababra are quite selfish, unfriendly, and self-centered. They only care about themselves and their own desires. I didn't want that kind of child, but I must admit, I was just like them.
"Maybe it was better for you to have been raised by your father and not me. You became completely opposite from other Abracadabra children, and I am very happy about the outcome.
"In time, I hope my father allows you to come back one day. I do wish to see you. I desire to make up for lost time and build a relationship with you.
"I cannot call you. My father is most likely keeping track of my phone records. If we get caught talking to each other, he will never allow me to send another letter.
"I will eagerly wait for your next response.
"I'd like to know how your school is going. Whether you have exams coming up soon or something martial arts-related. I'd like to be kept up to date with you. I would really like that.
"Your mother, Bella."
Kiernan put the letter away and started writing his next response. It took him about ten minutes to write a reply. It was easy since he just wrote about something that was happening in his life.
He mentioned the nationals that were coming up in about half a year.
"Here."
Kiernan tied the letter to the pigeon's leg.
The pigeon squawked, patted heads with Kiernan affectionately, and then flew away, heading south towards the World Sea, a long flight ahead.
The constant back-and-forth flying would be too much for a single pigeon, but Nevaeh had her own army of pigeons, which she was able to summon and change as she wished.
Kiernan closed the window and let out a few tired yawns.
'Only three classes tomorrow. A training is scheduled only for the night, so I have a lot of free time. What should I do…'
He wondered to himself and then scratched his nose, which made him notice his tattooed hand.
He had somewhat forgotten about this Tattoo of Kiernan. It wasn't as useful anymore as before because his body conditioning had improved by leaps.
However, he couldn't use every Iron Style technique without injuries—when he used Death Lance against the ghost of the soul fragment, the tattoo actually activated.
The tattoo activated because using Death Lance would've injured his hand. Probably not much, just a couple of fingers.
However, it was clear that there was still some work to do, but it wasn't that bad anymore.
If he had used Death Lance before Bath of Pain, he was sure his arm would've snapped in half without Tattoo of Kiernan.
'There are still a few techniques that I can't freely use, but I'm getting there. I guess I could go check out that Infinite Dojo since I have nothing else to do tomorrow.'
