Chapter 139: Chapter 139: The Scores

Saitama was astonished when he saw King's score. Weren't these tests supposed to measure spiritual power? King was just an ordinary person, after all—apart from his unusually loud heartbeat. How could he possibly achieve such a result?

"This is your natural talent. It has nothing to do with the test itself," Han Yu explained with a smile. "It seems you have great potential in this area. Scoring over 90 points means your achievements could someday rival those of Tatsumaki."

Han Yu grinned. With his own level of spiritual power, scoring a perfect 100 on the test was effortless. For most people, however, reaching 80 was already considered exceptional. Now, with King achieving 91, it was nothing short of impressive.

"Is this for real?" King asked, still doubting the outcome. "I thought the harder the test, the higher the score?"

Han Yu chuckled. "Not quite. The stronger your spiritual power, the simpler the questions appear. For someone like me, the test would consist of questions as basic as '1+1=2.'"

"So that's how it works? I thought it was because my aptitude was too low! No wonder the questions seemed so simple—I spent so much time second-guessing myself," King muttered, exasperated. He had agonized over each question, assuming the simplicity was a trap. To think they really were that straightforward!

"This set of test papers will cost you all ten million yen. Consider it a friendship discount," Han Yu said with a grin. While ten million yen sounded like a lot, it was only around $100,000—a trivial amount for someone like Han Yu.

Neither Genos nor Fubuki hesitated. They immediately asked Han Yu for his bank account information. Han Yu handed over the details for his "Universal Card," a special account tied to his shop, designed for transactions like this.

King, however, opted to pay in two installments since he couldn't afford the full amount upfront. Han Yu didn't mind; he trusted King's credibility.

Taking back the three test papers, Han Yu used his spiritual power to write a set of instructions on them and said, "Improving your spiritual power is simple. Take these papers home and rewrite them repeatedly. The writing on them is erasable. The more often you write, the faster your spiritual power will grow. Each time you finish, the test will automatically calculate your score. When you eventually reach a perfect 100, you can try moving small objects with your mind, starting with lighter ones and gradually progressing to heavier items."

He turned to Genos and added, "Genos, since you're interested in controlling fire, once your score hits 100, start practicing with a lighter. Work on manipulating the flame until you can control it smoothly, then gradually increase the flame's size."

Genos hesitated and asked, "What if I encounter something I don't understand? Can I come back to you for guidance?"

Han Yu stroked his chin thoughtfully, an idea forming in his mind. Looking at Genos and Fubuki, he said, "I can see you both are genuinely interested in developing your spiritual power. However, I can't always be available to guide you."

"How about this: I have an academy with many children who possess supernatural abilities. You could join as instructors, teaching them how to control their powers. In return, I can occasionally teach you how to enhance your spiritual power. What do you think?"

Han Yu was referring to the mutant academy where he served as principal. Though he rarely had time to manage it himself, any opportunity to improve the academy was worth pursuing.

"Is it... far away?" Fubuki hesitated before asking.

After all, Han Yu had mentioned coming from another world. Would joining his academy mean traveling to a completely different dimension?

"Don't worry," Han Yu assured her. "I can set up a spatial portal wherever you find convenient and discreet. You just need to tell me the location." Sensing her interest, Han Yu pressed further. "The work hours aren't long either. You'd only need to spend about an hour and a half each day teaching."

The mutant academy wasn't like a traditional school with tightly packed schedules. It operated more like a vocational institution, offering flexibility for both students and teachers to manage their time.

"I'm in! Let's do it!" Fubuki declared without hesitation, her earlier concerns about the distance now resolved.

After all, this wasn't just traveling abroad; it was "crossing realms" into an entirely different world. If someone couldn't adapt, it could become a real problem.

"I'm in as well," Genos said, raising his hand.

Seeing that both of them agreed, Han Yu was delighted. With an S-Class hero and the top-ranked B-Class hero joining as teachers, they were more than qualified to teach at the mutant academy.

"What about you, Saitama?" Han Yu turned to him. "Why not consider it? You don't have much going on most of the time, right? Being a hero is more of a hobby for you anyway. Why not give teaching a shot? I'll even pay you a salary."

Saitama blinked his plain-looking eyes. He'd never thought about being a teacher before, but something about Han Yu's offer intrigued him. "I think I can give it a try, as long as it's not one of those boring high school lectures that put you to sleep."

Han Yu chuckled. "Of course not. You'll have full freedom over your lessons. You can teach academic subjects if you want, or you can take the students out for hands-on combat training. It's entirely up to you."

With Saitama onboard, Han Yu felt even more assured about the academy's future. Recruiting three teachers, one of whom could serve as the school's guardian, meant his role as principal wasn't going to waste.

Of the five people in the room, Han Yu recruited three. He hadn't approached King because he knew the man didn't possess any actual abilities. Deep down, King was just an ordinary person. Asking him to be a teacher wasn't feasible—he didn't have anything to teach.

As Han Yu contemplated how to approach the topic with King—since leaving him out might seem harsh—King unexpectedly spoke up first.

"Can I go to the academy... as a student?"

Both Saitama and Han Yu were taken aback. They hadn't anticipated such a request. Meanwhile, Fubuki and Genos had entirely different reactions.

"King, you're the seventh-ranked S-Class hero! And you want to enroll as a student?" Fubuki said, incredulous.

Genos also looked puzzled.

Only Han Yu and Saitama knew the truth about King's lack of combat ability. While Genos frequently visited and often saw King, he had always assumed King's reputation stemmed from being in the orbit of Saitama, his immensely powerful teacher. The idea that King might lack real skills never even crossed his mind.

After all, aside from the elusive number one-ranked S-Class hero, King's ratings were the highest within the Hero Association.
