Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Arrival at the Mutant Academy
While King and the others were busy choosing their rooms, Han Yu and the rest gathered in the lounge to chat with Charles and Erik over tea.
"Hey, where did you find these people? There's even a cyborg among them. Not even Stark has something like that," Erik whispered to Han Yu.
"Oh, him?" Han Yu replied casually. "These people aren't from this world. They come from a parallel one—very similar to our Earth, but with a lot more monsters. Over there, being a 'hero' is a legitimate profession."
"In their world, all four of them are ranked on the Hero Leaderboard. Want to guess who's the strongest and who's the weakest?"
Erik hesitated before answering. "Uh… I'd guess it's Saitama? He looks like he'd struggle to lift a feather."
Knowing his comment might offend someone, Erik lowered his voice to avoid being overheard.
Han Yu turned his gaze to Charles, who nodded in agreement. Apparently, he shared the same opinion—Saitama seemed the weakest.
"And who do you think is the strongest?" Han Yu asked.
"King," Charles said confidently. "He's tall, muscular, and radiates authority. He must have a high standing in their world."
"You're half right," Han Yu said with a chuckle. "The truth is the exact opposite—Saitama is the strongest, and King is the weakest."
"You've got to be kidding!"
Charles and Erik were visibly shocked. Saitama, with his plain, unimpressive demeanor, was the strongest?
Han Yu sipped his tea and smiled. "You'll see for yourselves when they get the chance to spar. Words alone won't convince you."
"Well, then we have to test it out!"
If Han Yu said Saitama was the strongest, Charles and Erik were inclined to believe him. But without seeing it firsthand, the claim felt too unbelievable. Saitama looked every bit like someone fresh out of a beginner's training ground.
Charles and Erik were already brainstorming how and when to arrange a sparring session.
Watching their animated discussion, Han Yu smiled. As he reached for his tea, his expression shifted slightly. His eyes narrowed as an unusual sensation rose from within—he felt as though someone was watching him.
It was a mental presence, faint but discernible. Although far weaker than Han Yu's or even Erik's telepathic abilities, it had an impressive potential for growth.
Using the mental aptitude scale he'd tested on King and the others earlier, Han Yu estimated that this individual's latent mental strength would score an initial 95—an extraordinary starting point.
"By the way, wasn't there a girl Ultron mentioned to me before? Has she arrived here yet?" Han Yu asked.
"Yes, she's upstairs. Wait a moment; I'll call her." Charles turned toward the staircase and called out, "Jean, come down and meet our new friends!"
A few moments later, light footsteps echoed down the stairs—hesitant, pausing occasionally, as though the person was debating whether to come down.
At last, a small head with auburn hair peeked out from behind the staircase railing, her curious eyes darting toward the group while she remained partially hidden. She seemed shy and wary of strangers.
"Jean, don't be afraid. Come here," Charles said gently, waving her over.
After a moment of hesitation, Jean Grey stepped out and slowly approached them.
"Let me introduce you," Charles said. "This is Han Yu, our headmaster."
Then he gestured toward her and added, "And this is Jean Grey, our first enrolled student. Her abilities are still… a bit of a mystery."
"Hello, Jean," Han Yu greeted with a warm smile. The sunlight streaming through the window gently illuminated his face, enhancing his already pleasant features. His clear eyes and calm demeanor exuded an aura of friendliness, like a gentle older brother from next door.
Jean Grey blushed slightly, avoiding direct eye contact with Han Yu. She didn't respond verbally but gave a small nod as a way of acknowledging his greeting.
"Han, do you have some time? How about we spar a little? You can also introduce us to their abilities—it'll help in planning future lessons," Charles suggested.
Charles thought it would be more efficient for Han Yu, who was already familiar with Saitama and the others, to explain their powers rather than waiting for the group to warm up to them gradually.
Han Yu considered for a moment and agreed. "That sounds good. The sooner we understand each other's abilities, the smoother the teaching process will be later."
"Shall we head to my place?"
"No need," Charles said as he led the way. "We have a training area right here, underground. Erik and I spent three days and nights building it—no exaggeration, three full days and nights."
Han Yu raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You two built it yourselves?"
Charles nodded as they walked. "Of course. We couldn't risk letting outsiders in on this. We did get some help for certain technical aspects, but publicly, we framed it as a high-end escape room project. The materials we used are aerospace-grade, and according to calculations from the X-System, the space can withstand the abilities of mutants up to Level Four."
"Level Four? That's impressive," Han Yu remarked. "Level Three mutants are already quite powerful, with significant offensive capabilities. I thought I might need to involve my general store's resources."
Charles chuckled. "Hey, I'm the first person you reached out to. I have to prove I'm more than just a telepath."
Han Yu smiled knowingly, pleased with the setup. He was willing to support the mutant school, but only as an ally, not as someone taking full responsibility. He wasn't a saint, nor did he have the time or energy to take on every task.
"Saitama! Are you guys ready? Come on down!"
Han Yu called out to the group upstairs, his voice amplified with a hint of mental energy to ensure they heard him clearly.
Before long, the group came downstairs. Han Yu explained that they would be showcasing their abilities shortly, and everyone agreed without hesitation. After all, part of their purpose in coming here was to teach, and understanding each other's strengths was a logical first step.
"Everyone's here, so let's go," Charles said, leading the way.
He guided them toward a door beside the staircase. When the door opened, it revealed an elevator.
The elevator was surprisingly spacious, large enough to accommodate over twenty people at once.
Once inside, they noticed only a single button. The elevator began its descent, taking several minutes to reach the bottom, leaving them to wonder just how deep the facility was.
When the doors opened, a short corridor came into view. It wasn't very long—one could see the silver metal door at the end, which bore an "X" emblem.
Charles walked up to the door and glanced at the nearby input panel. The system chimed.
"Welcome, Professor Charles."
