Chapter 83: Chapter 83 Reality Gem
Luo Bai was speechless—so speechless that he didn't even want to acknowledge Thor anymore.
"If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now," Luo Bai said.
He planned to leave Asgard and check on how Stark was handling the situation.
But Thor, still frustrated, chased after him and demanded, "Luo Bai! Tell me, why did my father give Gungnir to you? And why can you lift my hammer...?"
Luo Bai: "…Ask your father."
With that, he opened a portal, unwilling to stay in Asgard any longer.
However, just as he was about to step through, the power of the Faerie suddenly stirred.
"Power! Incredibly strong power! Over there! Over there!!"
In Luo Bai's mind, the Faerie power kept repeating these words.
He sighed helplessly. Why is this demonic power acting up again?!
Luo Bai tried to suppress it, but the Faerie power was growing stronger.
To make things worse, he was starting to feel very hungry. Deciding it was best to listen to the Faerie power and investigate, he shifted his focus.
It seemed to have locked onto a clear destination, so Luo Bai opened another portal.
Beyond the portal lay darkness—absolute, lightless darkness.
"Where is this? Weren't we going to Earth? This definitely doesn't look like Earth," Thor asked, clearly unsettled by the eerie sight.
Before Luo Bai could answer, a deep, guttural roar echoed from the other side.
A moment later, a stream of red-and-black liquid surged out from the darkness.
"Be careful!" Thor shouted, instinctively dodging to the side.
Luo Bai reacted instantly, releasing the power of the Faerie.
Though the mysterious force was powerful, it offered no resistance—allowing Luo Bai to absorb it almost effortlessly.
It happened so quickly that by the time Thor processed what had just occurred, it was already over.
"...What just happened? What was that thing?" Thor asked, still baffled.
Luo Bai frowned, momentarily lost in thought.
He could clearly feel a new energy coursing through his body—an incredibly powerful one.
Instead of answering Thor, he closed the portal and shut his eyes, focusing inward.
It wasn't until the Faerie power had fully devoured and replicated the foreign energy that Luo Bai finally realized what it was.
"...Was that Aether particles just now...?" Luo Bai muttered.
His voice was so low that Thor didn't catch it. "What did you say?"
Aether particles—otherwise known as the Reality Stone.
Long ago, the Reality Stone was obtained by Malekith, leader of the Dark Elves.
He and his people transformed it into a liquid state, calling it Aether particles.
This power could corrupt and convert all matter into darkness—but it required a host, feeding off their life force.
Malekith had fused with the Aether particles, intending to plunge Earth and the Nine Realms into eternal darkness.
But he was ultimately defeated by Odin's father, Bor.
It was said that Bor not only defeated Malekith, but also sealed all the Dark Elves within the Dark World.
The Aether particles were thought to have been destroyed in that battle.
But in reality, they were never destroyed.
Instead, they had drifted through the cosmos, seeking a new host.
Now, thanks to the Faerie power's instincts... they had been completely devoured.
Luo Bai was speechless.
No wonder the Faerie power had been acting so excited—it had sensed the Reality Stone's energy.
Well, at least there's some good news, Luo Bai thought.
He now possessed the fourth Infinity Stone.
The bad news? It was swallowed.
Which meant Luo Bai had now essentially become the Reality Stone.
This was... unexpected.
"Luo Bai, what's wrong?" Thor asked, noticing his silence.
Although there had been some friction between them, Thor didn't see Luo Bai as an enemy—especially since his father had such a positive attitude toward him, and Luo Bai was also protecting Earth.
Seeing that unknown energy surge into Luo Bai's body just now had made Thor a bit concerned.
So asking was just... checking in. That's all.
"I'm fine," Luo Bai replied.
"Good. For a second, I thought something happened to you," Thor said. Then, after a brief pause, he added, "Of course, it's not like I care or anything. I was just asking."
Luo Bai barely paid attention to him.
Right now, he was focused on something else.
The Aether has appeared.
Which meant Malekith had awakened.
Malekith had always wanted to use the Aether to plunge the universe into eternal darkness. Now that it had resurfaced, he would definitely come looking for the Reality Stone.
If Luo Bai returned to Earth now, Malekith would likely bring an entire army with him.
As the Sorcerer Supreme, it would be irresponsible to drag that kind of chaos to Earth.
Besides, Malekith already hated Asgard. He would no doubt launch an attack there.
That meant Luo Bai could just wait for him in Asgard instead of hunting him down.
And on top of that, Luo Bai had just absorbed the Aether.
The Faerie power within him was unstable, and he needed time to stabilize it—while also studying the Reality Stone's abilities.
Thinking of this, Luo Bai turned to Thor and asked, "Is there a place to stay in Asgard?"
"...Stay?" Thor blinked in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"I'm planning to stay in Asgard for a while," Luo Bai said. "To experience the simple folk customs of your great kingdom."
Thor: "??? Wait. Didn't you just say you were going back?"
"I've changed my mind. You go tell your father—" Luo Bai paused mid-sentence. "Forget it, I'll go myself."
He turned and headed toward the main hall.
Thor quickly followed. "You want to live in Asgard? Look, I don't care if my father gave you Gungnir—he wouldn't agree to let you stay here. You're not even an Asgardian!"
Before long, the two arrived at the throne room.
Odin, seeing Luo Bai return, looked slightly puzzled.
Before he could ask, Thor blurted out, "Father, Luo Bai said he wants to stay in Asgard for a while."
Odin raised an eyebrow and glanced at Luo Bai.
Luo Bai wasted no time explaining. "The Aether has appeared. Which means Malekith is awake."
Odin's expression turned serious.
He knew what the Aether was. And if it had returned... that meant trouble.
"Where is the Aether now?" Odin asked.
"In my body," Luo Bai answered bluntly. "If I go back to Earth, Malekith will bring his army there. It's better for me to stay here and wait for him. He's bound to come for Asgard anyway."
Odin was momentarily stunned.
The Aether… inside Luo Bai?
This is... valuable.
People say Luo Bai is the center of the universe. At this point, it's starting to feel true.
Given the severity of the situation, Odin didn't hesitate.
"Thor," he commanded, "you will personally see to it that the Supreme Sorcerer is well taken care of while he stays in Asgard."
Thor: "?????"
Thor was utterly dumbfounded.
Wait… why is Father being so nice to Luo Bai?
I'm the future King of Asgard!
And now I'm supposed to be some Earth wizard's host?
"But—"
"Go!" Odin's voice boomed.
Thor: "..."
