Marvel: President Stark

Chapter 100: Chapter 99 - The Acceptance & The Rockstar I

Shhh…!

Tony descended upon the pristine green lawns of the X-Mansion. Unlike the last time, he didn't arrive with fury or ten Iron Guardians. No, he instead stepped out of the suit and walked towards the main building while enjoying the gentle breeze.

It was a sunny day and he could see a lot of kids basking in the sun, some dozing, others playing, or working on their laptops. The expansion of X-Mansion he had funded had been complete and already there were almost 500 mutants living there while more were being found and enrolled daily.

The help he had extended to the mutants was entirely personal. He funded them from his own pocket, not the US Government. The last thing he wanted was for someone to accuse the government of wasting Taxpayers' money.

Soon enough, he saw the woman he came to see coming out of the building. He just stopped there and watched her approach him, while he admired her looks. This long white hair, that tall, lean, and athletic frame, all of her curves were defined in the X-Men uniform she'd worn.

The black, leathery attire tightly hugged her body with its golden edges. A black cape was on her back too, her belt having a buckle with the X-Men emblem on it.

"Tony."

Tony noticed the trace of uncertainty in her voice. So, he just smiled and walked closer to her, his hand extended. He'd have normally given a hug but it felt awkward. "Thanks for making it so sunny today."

"I didn't do anything, Tony."

"No, you did… clear the clouds," Tony replied and joined her on a walk toward an artificial lake newly built at the Xavier estate. "How are you doing?"

He glanced at her belly just then and noticed a very slight bump. That mere realization made it all seem very real. On top of that, it made his thoughts much more clear. He knew what he wanted to do now.

"I'm well. I've heard of your actions across the globe. The news is in turmoil, and the government is unsettled. What you've done would typically lead to impeachment—acting without Congress's approval—but they fear you too much to act," Ororo replied, knowing the details as she was also a part of Tony's cabinet. "Were you hurt?"

"A bit," Tony said and joined her on a bench beside the lake. "So, what do you plan on doing?"

"The Winter Soldier shou—"

"I'm not talking about him." Tony looked at him with a burning gaze. He then shifted a little closer to Ororo's side and gave her his palm.

A sigh escaped Ororo's lips before she gave him her hand. In a way, she felt confident and calm by his demeanor. She expected him to lash out or go radio silent. But clearly, the man was full of surprises.

"I will… carry it to term." She answered while looking at his face to see how he'd react.

To her shock, Tony's hand squeezed her hand harder in response. A smile formed on his lips and he nodded softly.

"Yeah, I'm with you on this. Once I got past the whole anger phase, I realized I was actually kind of pumped about the idea of being a dad. I mean, come on—being the cool dad? Way better than the whole 'grumpy genius with a scowl' vibe my old man had going."

Ororo's sharp eyes met his, a soft wind seeming to swirl around her presence. Her brow arched gracefully. "You truly wish to involve yourself?"

Tony scrunched his face as if he'd heard the greatest piece of nonsense. "Wish? What do you mean, wish? Unless you're secretly a goddess, which you probably are but still, who can pull off parthenogenesis, I was pretty involved in this whole thing too. And yeah, I'd totally want to give the kid my name. No secrets, Ororo. Kid's gonna have a cool dad, that's non-negotiable."

Ororo took all that calmly, holding herself back from chuckling at his overly excited manner. The discussion she had expected to go serious and sour was somehow sweeter and surprising.

"What about the media, Tony? How do you plan to shield the child from their eyes?"

"Who said it's gonna be a secret? No way. As soon as the baby pops out, I'll lift them up like Simba and show them off to the world—like the second coming of Jes… ah, no, not that, I'll get canceled if I said that." Tony mumbled like an excited dad planning the adventures already. "Like I said, if you're cool with it, I'd be happy to add another Stark to my family tree."

"But I don't plan on getting married to you, Tony." She declared it fair and square.

"Me neither."

"But you're the President. How will you handle the backlash? They will say the most cruel, vile things—about you, about me, and the child. How will you endure it?"

Tony chuckled, pushing himself up with a smirk. He gazed at Ororo, his finger gently tracing under her chin, tilting her face up. "You forgetting who I am? The guy with the plan? I've dropped over fifty billion on global media—while I don't own them, they definitely don't badmouth me when I'm in the right. And slandering you or the kid? Yeah, that's a surefire way to go broke. Don't sweat it. I've got this covered."

"You're still the President."

"For how long? We're entering 2015, Ororo. In sixteen there will be elections that I don't plan on contesting. I have no desire to sit in the White House ever again… it's suffocating."

Receiving his clear answer, Ororo nodded and also stood up. Her hand on its own traced her belly as she slowly started to come to accept the strange agreement between her and Tony.

"I'm glad you took this so calmly."

"What, you thought I was gonna throw a tantrum? Come on, I'm not that petty." Tony replied jokingly and captured her hand before walking towards the building. "And hey, you can swing by the Stark Tower whenever. Whether you're looking for some peace, alone time, or just need a bit of me—I'm here."

Ororo chuckled and put her arm around his. Although she didn't see him as her lover or even a romantic partner, she still felt a level of intimacy with him that was more than mere friends.

"And what exactly do you intend to do with the Winter Soldier? He's still locked away in the basement." Ororo asked him.

"I don't know. Let the law do its thing. But I've got a little something cooked up for him. He's going to spend the next fifty years hunting down Hydra, saving at-risk Mutants, and bringing in the rogue ones. If he survives that, maybe, just maybe, I'll consider forgiving him. But I wouldn't hold your breath."

Sensing that Tony didn't seem very interested in talking about that, she changed the topic. "Maybe you should meet with the new additions to the X-Men."

"Alright, let's do that. Maybe I can lend a hand to a few of you. Like that Rogue girl—poor thing can't even hug." Tony offered his help. "And hey, quick thing—I'm going to need you to head over to North Korea and work your magic on their farmlands. Feel free to take Air Force One, I barely use it."

"I'll add that to my schedule."

Sometimes personal and sometimes professional. Chatting, Ororo and Tony walked into the X-Mansion like your normal Tuesday.
