MARVEL: SILVER SUPERMAN OF ASGARD

Chapter 111: CHAPTER 111

Everyone in the Guardians of the Galaxy looked at each other in blank dismay. Together with Rhodes, they had searched for this planet for so long, only to discover that it was where Star-Lord's father lived.

They had expected to find a special planet—perhaps one rich in resources that could help advance Asgard's technology.

Unexpectedly, it turned out to be Star-Lord's father's home.

"This is actually a beautiful place," Rocket Raccoon remarked. "We can settle here temporarily and get some proper rest. Day after day in the same barren universe—I'm about ready to throw up."

Rocket landed the spaceship on the surface of Ego.

Ego welcomed the Guardians of the Galaxy into his grand palace, where many maids in white robes served fresh, delicious food and wine.

Ego raised a glass.

"Eat and drink as much as you like. This will be your home from now on. If you have any needs, I can fulfill them all."

Rocket downed his glass of wine in one gulp.

"Ah, this is the life! It feels great to finally be on solid ground. And hey, Star-Lord just got himself a father—how convenient."

He chuckled before adding, "If I didn't know that with a raccoon's lifespan, my parents would've been dead a long time ago, I'd want to find my old man too! Hahaha..."

Drax the Destroyer and Rocket eagerly indulged in the feast. Compared to the bland canned food on the spaceship, this was a banquet fit for kings.

Meanwhile, Groot could only sit and watch, occasionally sipping some water.

Star-Lord, delighted by the reunion, clinked glasses with Ego.

After Dinner

Ego led the Guardians of the Galaxy on a tour of his palace.

The massive structure boasted towering fountains cascading like waterfalls and a bath the size of a lake.

"If your friends are tired," Ego said, "they can take a bath and relax here. The maids will take care of them with massages."

"Now that's more like it," Rocket Raccoon grinned, peeling off his combat armor to reveal a back covered in steel implants and scars.

Drax wasted no time—he leaped straight into the bath.

Ego turned to Star-Lord.

"Come, son. I have something to tell you."

He led Star-Lord into a grand hall lined with massive stone pillars.

There, Ego spoke of the vast universe, the secrets of celestial beings, and his own existence.

Star-Lord was shocked by everything he heard.

Then, suddenly, he asked, "If you're so powerful and can shape anything on this planet… why didn't you save my mother? Your wife?"

Ego hesitated for a moment—he hadn't expected that question. Then, he sighed.

"It was beyond my control, Quill. I'm sorry. I admit that I loved her… but I am a god, and she was just a mortal."

He paused before continuing.

"But I couldn't let her live. The truth is, I have fathered many children with women across the galaxy. They were merely experiments—defective products that failed to inherit my celestial power. Their existence was a disgrace to my kind."

"So I… eradicated them all."

"And their mothers as well. If I, as a god, developed genuine feelings, it would weaken me. I did love your mother, but that love was a threat. To maintain my power, I had to let her go."

Ego placed a hand on Star-Lord's shoulder.

"But you are different, Quill. You inherited my power. You are extraordinary—my greatest creation, my pride."

Star-Lord stared at him in utter disbelief.

"What did you just say?" His voice was shaking. "So my mother was just one of many? And you killed her?"

Ego let out a weary sigh but did not deny it.

Fury erupted in Star-Lord's chest.

"So that's it?" His voice rose. "I only survived because I carry your damned power? My mother—who loved you more than anything—was just a pawn? Just some breeding machine for your so-called 'perfect' child?"

Ego remained calm.

"Son, don't be so emotional. As gods, we are different from ordinary people. We cannot view the universe through the same lens."

He gestured around them.

"This universe is vast, and true power requires sacrifice. Sometimes, hard decisions must be made."

Ego's voice grew more persuasive.

"If we join together, our celestial power will reach an unimaginable level."

He gestured to the planet around them.

"This planet is not just my home—it is me. I am a living planet. And if we merge, we will become even stronger."

"Think about it, Quill. With my guidance, you will understand everything I have done. These mortal attachments—they won't matter anymore."

"Let's abandon these insignificant emotions and step into a greater destiny together."

Star-Lord sneered.

"'Insignificant'?" His hands clenched into fists. "You murdered my mother. And now, you want to devour me too? You want to steal the power inside me?"

His eyes burned with rage as he stared down the so-called father who had just shattered everything he believed in.

"You know what? You are the worst excuse for a father in the world. No—scratch that—you don't even deserve to be called a father. You're nothing more than a pile of thinking garbage."

"What you call the power of the gods? Give it up! You will never merge with me!"

"I will never let you fuse with me. You will never get the godly power you crave!"

Star-Lord stood up and glared at Ego with unfiltered rage.

"You better give up on your delusional plan!" he spat, pushing Ego away.

Ego remained still, his once-benign smile fading from his face.

For years, he had roamed the universe, searching for an heir who could inherit his divine power. Countless attempts had ended in failure, leaving him frustrated. But when he discovered Star-Lord, Ego had been ecstatic. Finally, a descendant who carried his godly essence had been born.

If Ego could merge with him, his planetary form would gain unimaginable power, making him stronger than ever. Star-Lord wasn't just his son—he was a reserve energy source, a vessel to fuel Ego's ambitions.

Now, standing before him, that same son dared to defy him.

Ego's expression darkened.

"I have waited for this moment for so long," he said coldly. "Do you really think you can resist me?"

Star-Lord stared at him in shock.

The father he had imagined—the one he had longed to meet—was nothing but a heartless, cruel monster.

Raising his laser blasters, Star-Lord gritted his teeth.

"I never thought my father would be someone like you," he said. "I will never bow to you."

"You betrayed my mother, your son—everything!"

"Do you even realize? Even when she was dying—killed by you—my mother still loved you. She never blamed you, not once."

"But you? You're nothing but a beast wearing human skin."

"Your very existence disgusts me. Is this what it means to be a god?"

"If so, then I want nothing to do with it. I'd rather be an ordinary man than inherit the filth that runs through your veins!"

Ego's expression turned to fury.

"Since you refuse to cooperate, then you will die."

Before he could react, Star-Lord moved first.

He pulled the triggers of his dual blasters, unleashing a relentless barrage of laser fire.

The searing blasts struck Ego's molecular body, tearing it apart in places, revealing the glowing blue essence of his godly power. Though the attacks didn't truly harm him, the insult they carried was unbearable.

His own son had dared to fire upon him.

Ego's rage erupted.

"You will die a miserable death, just like the others who failed to inherit my power!" he roared.

His shattered molecular form instantly reassembled. Summoning massive energy arms made of divine power, Ego swung at Star-Lord with incredible force.

The blow sent Star-Lord flying across the palace, slamming him into the wall with a deafening crash. The impact left a deep crater in the structure, though it didn't break.

Gritting his teeth against the pain, Star-Lord coughed, struggling to rise. But before he could, more than a dozen energy arms shot up from the ground, rushing toward him like living tendrils.

He tried to dodge, but they moved too fast.

A thick energy arm pierced straight through his chest.

Star-Lord let out a scream as searing pain spread through his body.

Suspended in the air, impaled by Ego's energy, he gasped for breath.

Ego looked up at him with cold indifference.

"No one defies me—not even you," he said. "I had hoped to brainwash you, to make you understand the greatness of my plan. But in the end, you are nothing more than a mortal, incapable of grasping my divine vision."

Star-Lord felt his godly energy rapidly draining, siphoned away by Ego's power.

"You were never worthy of being a father," he rasped.

Before Ego could respond, a rocket whooshed through the air, trailing fire behind it.

It struck Ego's face head-on.

With a massive explosion, his molecular form was blown apart, and the energy arms restraining Star-Lord crumbled from the shockwave.

Star-Lord crashed to the ground, rolling over several times before coming to a stop.

When he looked up, he saw Rocket Raccoon, Drax the Destroyer, and Groot standing protectively in front of him.

His family had arrived.
