Chapter 7: Aftermath
Leon returned to the seaside villa only to be met with a scene that immediately shifted the mood. As he stepped into the lobby, he caught sight of Tony Stark, his arm confidently wrapping around the waist of a stunning blonde supermodel. Tony's confident smile vanished the moment he took in Leon's battered state.
Without a hint of hesitation, Tony released the model. "Darling, you should head home. I'll see you later," he ordered. The supermodel, taken aback by the abrupt dismissal, quickly excused herself and left the scene.
Tony's gaze then fixed on Leon, his expression hardening. "What happened to you?"
Leon, settling onto the sofa with a weary yet composed expression, replied, "I got ambushed by a gang outside the old scrap factory. It was self defense, I had no choice but to take them out." His tone was calm
Tony's eyes narrowed, concern crossing his features. "Self defense, huh? I trust you, but we need to keep things under control. Explain what happened from the start"
Leon nodded, as he explained.
Tony exhaled slowly, his gaze softening. "You always did have a wild streak, Leon. Just promise me you'll be more careful next time." He paused, then added with a hint of a smile, "And try not to scare the guests with your 'battle scars' next time."
Before Leon could reply, Tony's voice turned serious. "Jarvis, contact Pepper immediately. We need her to handle the aftermath, make sure everything's covered."
"Right away, sir," Jarvis responded.
The atmosphere in the villa shifted as Tony reviewed a live update from Pepper, a concise report, and images of the scene outside the factory that confirmed Leon's account.
Tony leaned back and said, "Alright, let's not dwell on it any longer."
"Take a shower, get some rest," Tony instructed, his tone both commanding and caring. "We're flying to Afghanistan first thing tomorrow for that weapons briefing. Let Pepper take care of the fallout."
Leon managed a tired chuckle. "Yeah, thanks bro." With that, he excused himself and headed to his room.
The next morning, Leon was in a deep sleep when suddenly, a persistent voice cut through the fog of his dreams. He opened his eyes to find Pepper standing at his bedside, her expression urgent. "Leon, wake up," she said briskly. "You have a flight to Afghanistan. Get up, we're leaving now." Leon groaned, dragging himself out from under the covers.
