Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Mitat Yilmaz
Lance nodded slowly, then looked at Ethan. "How's your illness? Are there any effects?"
Ethan glanced briefly at Vivi before answering in a slightly gloomy tone, "I would feel better if the medication didn't have such strong side effects."
Vivi, with her characteristic sly smile, chimed in while chuckling, "Having side effects doesn't mean the medication isn't working, right? Sometimes, effective things do come with a little price to pay."
Ethan said in a low voice, slightly doubtful, "But that doesn't guarantee the medication is effective for my illness, unless I know what exactly you injected into me..."
Vivi dramatically slammed the document against Ethan's chest. "I heard it's a clean drug," Vivi replied teasingly.
"If you let me read the instructions..." Ethan began to speak, but his sentence halted as his eyes caught something intriguing in the document.
On the first page of the document, a large check was clearly written.
One hundred fifty thousand dollars.
That amount might seem small compared to Lance's salary of five hundred thousand, but for Ethan, it was far more than he had hoped for.
Ethan stared at the check for a moment, almost in disbelief. His thoughts began to race. *Could this experimental drug really cure the deadly illness that has been threatening me?* That question kept swirling in Ethan's mind.
Ethan was stunned, almost feeling choked by the sudden appearance of money in front of him. Before Ethan could continue, Vivi turned to Lance with a loving smile and said in a softer yet meaningful tone, "My dear, even though I don't want to rush, I want to remind you that our time is limited. So... come on."
...
...
...
Vivi had left.
As one of the senior figures in the CIA, Vivi would not be directly involved in this mission. If captured by the FBI, the consequences would be extremely troublesome.
Of course, if Lance and Ethan were caught, the situation wouldn't be much better. The CIA would not step in to protect them.
Vivi didn't say this outright, but Lance and Ethan clearly understood the limits and priorities of the CIA.
"So, buddy, since you're the leader of this mission, what's our next move?" Ethan asked, looking more enthusiastic after receiving his payment.
Lance didn't mind Ethan's attitude. Tapping the file in his hand, Lance then said, "This information looks like a lot, but most of it is useless."
Ethan wasn't surprised at all. "That's typical," he said casually. "If all CIA information was really useful, they would've caught Wolf a long time ago. No need to hire us at such a high cost."
Lance smiled faintly. "But there are some pieces of information that are still useful." Lance then pulled out a piece of paper from the file and handed it to Ethan. "This is Albino, an accountant from Sicily. Albino specializes in creating fake financial reports for Wolf. We can track Wolf through Albino."
Ethan looked over the information and furrowed his brow. "But there are no other details here. No description, real name, or address. The only thing we know is that this guy is from Sicily."
Lance pulled out additional documents and handed them to Ethan. "We can get help from this person, Mitat Yilmaz. Mitat owns a car rental company that has provided luxury vehicles for Albino several times. I'm sure Mitat can help us find the accountant."
Ethan thought for a moment before nodding. "Alright."
Mitat Yilmaz wasn't hard to find. Mitat's company was located in Brooklyn.
Lance and Ethan left the small park where they had been discussing, got into the car, and quickly headed to Mitat's company location.
However, the company was far from ordinary. Despite its lavish decor, the atmosphere was suspicious, like property owned by gangsters. Located in the underground parking of a building, the surrounding area was dark and full of mystery. Several large men in all-black clothing stood guard at the entrance, adding to the intimidating aura.
Seeing the black-clad security guards in front of the door, Lance tilted his head and asked, "Should we force our way in?"
"No need," Ethan replied casually. He attached a suppressor to his pistol, hid it under his jacket, and then turned to walk toward the car rental company.
Lance shrugged, choosing to follow Ethan's plan without much comment.
Before they reached the door, several large men in all-black clothing stopped them. One of them asked in a flat tone, "What do you want?"
Ethan remained calm, his expression unchanged. "Is this a car rental company?"
The leader of the group relaxed his stance, though only slightly. "Yes."
"Good," Ethan said with a small smile. "Someone recommended this place. I want to rent a car."
The man eyed them with suspicion before speaking into the intercom on his shoulder. After receiving approval, the man opened the previously closed door and nodded to them. "Gentlemen, please come in."
"Thank you," Ethan said. He and Lance exchanged a glance before stepping inside. The door was immediately closed again by someone outside.
The inside of the car rental company was far from ordinary. Though it appeared simple from the outside, the interior exuded luxury. The floor was covered with fine Persian carpets, aristocratic chandeliers hung from the ceiling, and abstract paintings adorned all four walls, giving it an elegant European atmosphere—like an old noble house.
Across the door, a large and luxurious desk became the focal point. However, the main chair behind it was empty. Two men in suits with leather shoes sat in the side chairs, but their demeanor couldn't hide the unmistakable gangster aura that radiated from them.
As Ethan and Lance approached, the two men looked at them with mocking smiles. One of them eyed Ethan's worn clothes and laughed shamelessly. "Hey, coachman, did your carriage get lost?"
Ethan remained calm despite the insult. As an agent known for his frugality, Ethan often rode a bicycle to get around. His clothes were simple, even looking worn and slightly torn. Yet, Ethan didn't show any sign of being offended, walking confidently as if the insult had never occurred.
