Marvel: The Sorcerer in America

Chapter 32: Chapter 32: System Update

Passing through several invisible barriers that felt like thin membranes, Lance arrived at his favorite room—a Mediterranean-style basement. The soft glow of a simple arc lamp reflected off the polished black floor, creating a warm and serene ambiance amidst the darkness.

This was the heart of the villa and Lance's dedicated space for studying magic. Originally, the room was only fifty square meters, but through magic, Lance had managed to expand it nearly threefold. Now, the space rivaled the size of a high-end villa, complete with all the equipment needed for his studies.

At the far end of the room stood a black stone target over two meters tall. Its surface, marred with scorch marks and cracks, silently bore witness to Lance's years of grueling training.

"Alright, let's see what you can do," Lance muttered, his gaze fixated on the Pig Talisman in his hand.

The Zodiac Talismans, also known as Shendu Talismans, were renowned for their simplicity. No intricate incantations or significant sacrifices were required. As long as the user desired to wield their power, the Talisman's magical energy would flow effortlessly.

Lance closed his eyes momentarily, allowing his mind to connect with the magic stored within the Talisman. Moments later, his eyes began to glow brightly, radiating a white light streaked with blinding arcs of lightning.

*Zzreez!*

Two beams of light, each as thick as a baby's arm, shot out from Lance's eyes, slamming into the black stone target with immense force. Heat waves radiated swiftly, leaving scorch marks across the stone's surface. The room, once warm, was now filled with the distinctive scent of burning material, heightening the tense atmosphere.

"Well, the Pig Talisman's power is stronger than I expected." Lance promptly deactivated his thermal vision, stepping closer to the humanoid-shaped target and carefully examining the two small holes on its surface.

Each hole was roughly the size of a teacup and more than an inch deep.

This black stone wasn't an ordinary material found on Earth. It hailed from the magical dimension of Fandazar Foo, having been saturated with magical energy for hundreds of millions of years. The stone possessed extraordinary resistance to magic.

For the Pig Talisman's thermal vision to leave such holes in this kind of stone indicated that the beams could easily pierce tank armor, let alone the far more fragile flesh and blood of humans.

In essence, the magical beams from the world of *Jackie Chan Adventures* surpassed mid-level magic known in this world in terms of destructive power.

What was even more fascinating was that the Pig Talisman required no physical effort from its user, making it completely safe and harmless to the wielder.

"This is fascinating!" Lance's intrigue deepened as he pondered the Talisman's capabilities.

As he deactivated the thermal vision, what captured Lance's attention wasn't just the beam's raw power but the source of energy within the Pig Talisman.

An idea began to form in Lance's mind.

**Dimensions!**

The magical energy from the Zodiac Talismans clearly originated from another dimension.

The enchantment extracted energy from a different dimension, transformed it into energy beams, and released it through channels flowing from the user's eyes.

This was the Pig Talisman!

Lance's thoughts immediately turned to something familiar.

Cyclops from *X-Men*.

Although there were no mutants in this world, and Lance had certainly never encountered Cyclops, he was well-acquainted with the mutant's abilities.

Cyclops could fire red heat beams from his eyes. The energy Cyclops emitted was inexhaustible, capable of feeding entities like the Phoenix without limits.

However, it was crucial to note that Cyclops's power wasn't actually heat vision, as commonly misunderstood. His true ability was using his eyes as a portal to another dimension, from which he drew energy and unleashed it as destructive beams.

This alien dimension didn't adhere to the usual laws of physics. Within it existed particles akin to photons, which, when transferred to the real world, transformed into kinetic energy. This energy formed red beams with tremendous impact force, capable of obliterating anything in their path.

The way the Pig Talisman released its energy was strikingly similar to Cyclops's laser beams.

Of course, while the energy release principles were alike, the energy sources of the two were undoubtedly different.

At that moment, Lance began to ponder deeply, trying to determine whether he could locate the dimension connected to the Pig Talisman. If Lance could access that dimension and harness its infinite energy, he would be able to wield any kind of magic without hesitation. No longer would he have to fear becoming a target of Demons or Cosmic Entities from various dimensions.

Unfortunately, information about the Pig Talisman remained scarce. If all twelve Zodiac Talismans could be gathered, perhaps the coordinates of that dimension could be discovered.

Lance sighed, clicking his tongue in regret. For now, he could only keep the idea tucked away in his mind and wait for an opportunity to collect all twelve Talismans.

It was time to focus on other matters.

[Beginner Lottery Draw Complete]

[Beginner Mode Disabled]

[The following updates have been applied:

①: The points required for the lottery have increased, along with the reward levels in the prize pool. Each lottery draw, previously requiring only 100 points, now requires 1,000 points.

②: The "Infinity Altar" has been unlocked, allowing players to sacrifice valuable items in exchange for items from other worlds. The exchanged items are random, but their value remains equivalent.

③: The "World Gate," a pathway to other worlds, is currently closed and requires a special item to open.]

After reading the system update, Lance immediately felt a mix of pressure and shock.

The lottery point cost had increased tenfold, meaning Lance could no longer live a relaxed life. Instead, he would have to risk his life and "fight tooth and nail" against various monsters. Otherwise, it might take him years to gather enough points for the lottery.

Based on his current methods and experience, Lance doubted he was even strong enough to take on a big purple tuber-like figure—yes, Thanos—if the big guy ever showed up.
