Marvel: Trading with Worlds

Chapter 253: C167(1)

The Uchiha land remains an important area within the village. This was decided during the time of the First Hokage, when Uchiha Madara allocated the land. It is said to be far better than the Senju land.

When Kain arrived at the Uchiha clan's territory, he stopped a group of guards, explained his purpose, and was subsequently escorted to Uchiha Fugaku's home.

A member of the Uchiha clan went ahead to inform Fugaku of Kain's arrival.

"Kain-san, please come in."

When Kain reached Uchiha Fugaku's residence, Fugaku was already waiting for him at the door. As the publicity secretary of the Land of Fire and president of the Kain Chamber of Commerce, Kain's status was no less significant than that of the Uchiha clan.

If the Uchiha clan had retained the old-fashioned manners passed down from the Hyuga clan, they would have shown full respect to Kain.

"Clan Chief Fugaku, it's a pity we didn't get a chance to communicate much during my last visit," Kain remarked.

After exchanging pleasantries at the door, Uchiha Fugaku invited Kain inside and led him to the living room. As they settled down, a beautiful woman with a mature and graceful demeanor entered the room.

Dressed in a slim, well-fitted home skirt, the woman half-kneeled at the table while holding a tea set.

Her exposed slender legs and soft, peachy cheeks gave her an elegant charm. After placing the tea set on the table, she silently retreated from the room.

This must be Uchiha Mikoto. Kain gave her a polite glance before shifting his focus back to the tea. It was only his second visit, and he knew better than to appear rude.

Uchiha Fugaku offered a slight apology. "The tea was prepared in a hurry and may not be of the finest quality. Please forgive me, Kain-san."

"This is already excellent. You flatter me, Fugaku-san. I've only gained success in recent years; I am far from someone with an aristocratic heritage," Kain replied with a smile.

With the formalities out of the way, Kain and Uchiha Fugaku began discussing various topics—from the ninja wars to the broader state of the ninja world—before eventually moving on to the subject of business cooperation.

Unlike his father, Uchiha Fugaku made up his mind quickly and agreed to cooperate. The Uchiha clan, though powerful, sought to climb even higher.

While they had an existing partnership with the Ninja Cat Clan, its capabilities paled in comparison to those of the Kain Chamber of Commerce.

Whether it was weapon sales or raw material supplies, replacing the Ninja Cat Clan with the Kain Chamber of Commerce would increase the Uchiha clan's profits by 60%.

Additionally, the increase in raw material supplies would create jobs for the clansmen and allow for higher subsidies for each family member.

Most of these burdens had fallen on Uchiha Fugaku's shoulders, so Kain's active proposal for collaboration was too valuable to refuse.

Only someone out of their mind would decline such an offer.

War drained the resources of any family, no matter how wealthy. Even a powerful clan like the Uchiha had seen significant depletion of its assets after years of conflict.

The financial aid and mission rewards from Konoha Village were far from enough to support the families of war orphans.

Much of the burden fell on the Uchiha clan itself, which had to fund most of the support.

Kain's offer could ease that burden and provide a stable future for the clan.

Without subsidies from the clan, it would be impossible to master the Uchiha shuriken-throwing technique solely with the village's financial support.

This technique requires an extensive amount of ninja equipment, and ordinary families simply cannot afford the expense.

Kain and Uchiha Fugaku spent over an hour discussing cooperation inside the house. Once Kain felt the time was right, he decided to cut to the chase. Looking directly at Uchiha Fugaku, he spoke bluntly:

"Clan Chief Fugaku, let's get straight to the point. Orochimaru hopes the Uchiha clan can assist him. In return, once he becomes Hokage, the Uchiha clan will be freed from the guard force, and other departments in the village will also be opened to you."

Uchiha Fugaku was momentarily stunned by Kain's straightforwardness. After a brief pause to think, he replied, "Kain-san, the Uchiha clan also has high hopes for the Fourth Hokage position. For us to give up competing for it and instead help Orochimaru... that would be difficult."

Kain leaned forward slightly, shaking his head. "Clan Chief Fugaku, what gives the Uchiha clan the confidence to compete for the position of Hokage? Is it military achievements? Reputation? The trust of Konoha's leadership? Or perhaps the daimyo's approval?"

"While the Uchiha clan may have earned the trust of some Konoha shinobi during the war, you must consider: how does the Uchiha clan compare to Orochimaru when it comes to becoming Hokage?"

Pausing briefly, Kain added, "By the way, the daimyo of the Land of Fire has already decided to appoint Orochimaru as the Fourth Hokage. He is the only candidate who will receive their endorsement."

Hearing this, Uchiha Fugaku's expression tightened. He realized Kain's words carried weight—his position must have already influenced the daimyo's decision.

Fugaku frowned slightly. "If that's the case, then wouldn't Orochimaru be able to secure the position of Fourth Hokage without the Uchiha clan's help? Why does he need us?"

"Ah, but he does," Kain replied calmly. "The Third Hokage has taken an interest in a certain genius ninja from the Grass Country battlefield. While Orochimaru has a strong chance of winning, he's concerned that the Third Hokage might resort to underhanded tactics to interfere."

Kain briefly outlined the situation, and after a moment of thought, Uchiha Fugaku began to understand. Having learned from Uchiha Hamada, he was well-versed in the nuances of political maneuvering.
