Marvel's Hogwarts Professor

Chapter 359: Chapter 359

New York Temple

"Lockhart, you've got quite the luck. These two are on Kamar Taj's wanted list and can be exchanged for substantial rewards," Kaecilius remarked, glancing down at the two bodies slumped on the blue-grey stone floor.

The captives twitched occasionally, their faces slack and dull. Black lines covered their faces and bodies, especially around their eyes, which looked as if they were seeping black smoke—an eerie and unsettling sight. The red, flame-colored runes on their foreheads pulsed in contrast to the dark lines, creating an odd, rhythmic beat that seemed to resonate through their whole bodies.

Lockhart shook his head with a touch of frustration. "Lucky? Dormammu seems fixated on me. Ever since our last encounter, when the three of us disrupted his arrival, he's had it in for me."

Kaecilius adjusted his glasses thoughtfully, his gaze turning contemplative. Sensing Kaecilius's shift in demeanor, Lockhart raised a brow. "And don't even think about suggesting me as bait," he warned. "I've come here with important information this time."

At that, Kaecilius's face turned serious. He knew Lockhart wouldn't come lightly, especially when the topic concerned Dormammu.

"Kaecilius, I'll be meeting with the Sorcerer Supreme soon," Lockhart continued. "But I wanted to give you a heads-up. From what I gathered in their memories, I suspect that something big is in the works. Dormammu isn't the only threat; other Dimensional Demons may be mobilizing as well."

A shadow passed over Kaecilius's face as he processed the news. "I see…" he muttered gravely. "Actually, the sorcerers of Kamar Taj recently foresaw a coming disaster. It's likely connected to what you're telling me."

He sighed, but after a moment, he composed himself and nodded. "In any case, Lockhart, remember to look up Morin at Kamar Taj. He's gathered some of the information you're looking for."

Kaecilius paused, then added with a meaningful tone, "And one more thing—start practicing large-scale sealing spells. We may end up fighting side by side sooner than we think."

Lockhart hesitated, his expression shifting to one of cautious concern. Large-scale magic, often requiring multiple sorcerers, usually signaled impending large-scale conflict. But Kaecilius left it at that, so Lockhart let the subject drop.

After a brief exchange, Lockhart took out his wand, opened a portal to Kamar Taj, and stepped through. Kaecilius watched him go, a pensive look in his eyes. A moment later, Kaecilius waved his sling ring and opened his own portal.

On the other side, he saw the open courtyard of Kamar Taj, where dozens of sorcerers stood in neat, intricate formations. Dressed in yellow robes, they waved their sling rings, their spiritual energy humming in unison as they channeled their magic together, preparing for something vast and powerful.

Kamar Taj - Bamboo Forest Tea Room

A gentle breeze rustled the bamboo leaves, carrying the fragrant aroma of freshly brewed tea. Lockhart sat cross-legged at the low table, inhaling deeply, a satisfied smile gracing his lips.

"Lockhart, what brings you here this time?" The Sorcerer Supreme asked, pouring a cup of tea and setting it in front of him. "Or do you have more questions about chaos magic? Have you managed to digest the last lesson's material?"

Lockhart's face showed a hint of embarrassment. "Not yet, Sorcerer Supreme. The teachings were… intricate. I'm still working through them," he admitted with a small smile. "But that's not why I'm here today."

Taking a deep breath, he explained, "I came because a few days ago, three of Dormammu's disciples attempted to ambush me. I managed to kill one and capture the other two. I was able to extract crucial information from their memories, which I believe you need to know."

The Sorcerer Supreme's face remained calm, though a hint of surprise flickered in his eyes. His voice was steady as he prompted, "Go on."

"I learned from their memories that Dormammu has issued orders to his followers to prepare large-scale human blood sacrifices," Lockhart said, his tone grave. "He's encouraging the spread of his cult openly, aiming to gather as many followers as possible."

The Ancient One listened, his expression calm yet thoughtful, as if weighing each word. Lockhart paused, then added, "What's worse, I suspect Dormammu isn't the only Dimensional Demon involved. According to what I gathered, Dormammu's followers have made deals with Mephisto, trading people in exchange for assistance in their rituals and expansion efforts."

The Sorcerer Supreme nodded slowly, the faintest trace of a smile playing on his lips. "I see," he murmured, showing no visible surprise. Lockhart had expected the Sorcerer Supreme to take the news in stride, but he hadn't come purely to report.

"By the way," Lockhart continued, "there was another detail from their memories. I'm not entirely sure of its accuracy, but…"

The Sorcerer Supreme motioned for him to continue.

Lockhart's face turned serious, his voice low. "It appears that someone within Kamar Taj may be leaking information to Dormammu's followers. This would explain how they've managed to evade our sorcerers so effectively."

At this, the Sorcerer Supreme's hand paused momentarily in its movement. Lockhart could sense the weight of the news sinking in, though the Ancient One's calm facade betrayed little.

"Are you certain of your source?" the Sorcerer Supreme asked, his tone measured.

"There's a strong likelihood," Lockhart replied, nodding. "I don't know the individual's identity, but I'm confident someone is passing information along."

The Sorcerer Supreme continued to pour tea, his hand steady, the calm on his face unbroken. "Then, Lockhart, what would you propose?"

Lockhart's brow furrowed as he thought aloud. "Sorcerer Supreme, I've heard that Kamar Taj is preparing for a major operation. If we have a traitor in our ranks, they could compromise any plans we set in motion. I suggest we identify this mole and eliminate the threat before it escalates."

The Ancient One regarded him with a faint, knowing smile, as if recognizing Lockhart's intent. With an air of finality, he responded, "In that case, Lockhart, you shall be the one to root out this traitor. You will take on the role of searcher."

Lockhart blinked, momentarily stunned, but he quickly recovered, bowing his head respectfully. "As you wish, Sorcerer Supreme."
