Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)
Chapter 187: Made Su Yubing sad?
"Sigh... How many times do I have to tell you to stop using your spiritual powers. Why do you worry me so much?"
Mo Yuxin said with a sigh but her words were as gentle and sweet as a jar of honey. Her slender fingers kept rubbing Su Yubing's back in an intimate manner, trying to soothe this angry kitten. She didn't know why Su Yubing had such a reaction to her words but thinking back, she did seem to have said those in her usual cold voice. Mo Yuxin blamed herself countless times in her heart for making Su Yubing sad and said in an even softer tone,
"Can you tell me why you are angry?" She asked and then paused for a moment before continuing,
"I am sorry if my words seemed a little cold to you but I was just really worried about you."
Su Yubing listened to her words with a visible look of surprise, and the anger on her face subsided as she asked with a choked voice,
"You... Didn't you shout at me because I burned the painting of your dear old friend?"
Mo Yuxin was a little surprised that Su Yubing's thoughts would go towards such unbelievable direction as she could only sigh helplessly.
With a soft laugh and a gentle shake of her head, she teased, "You silly little fool." She touched the tip of Su Yubing's nose, trying to wipe away the sadness in her eyes. But deep inside, Mo Yuxin felt a weight of regret. She knew that her cold words earlier might have hurt Su Yubing.
Su Yubing's anger began to fade as she listened to Mo Yuxin's gentle tone. However, memories of Lu Wuqi shouting at her like that still hurt her heart. She suddenly raised her trembling fingertips, enduring the intense pain that came from her own injuries, and forced her spiritual power to push Mo Yuxin away. "Go away. Don't talk to me. By the way, the one that burned the painting was a fragment of the Samadhi True Fire. You can throw it away as well," she had said. Mo Yuxin had been silent and troubled at that moment.
Mo Yuxin cultivates the way of thunder, just like her master but she also practices the samadhi true fire that she accidentally gained in her life, not only to have it as a hidden source of power but also to use it to practice her second profession which is refining divine weapons and tools. Now, the Samadhi true fire that Su Yubing used to burn the painting was even a higher rank true fire than the true fire that she possesses at the moment. If she can integrate the samadhi true fires together and cultivate it to perfection, not only her power would have a qualitative leap but even her refining skills would have a huge qualitative increase.
After a deep, heavy breath, Mo Yuxin looked softly at Su Yubing's figure curled on the crouch pitifully and said gently, "Rest for now, okay. Don't run around."
Once Mo Yuxin left, Su Yubing slid slowly off the couch. She gathered her scattered clothes with trembling hands and muttered a soft "tsk." The ashes of the old scroll lay on the floor, a painful reminder of what had been lost. Su Yubing raised her hand and used her spiritual power to clear away the ashes. She did not stop until every speck of ash was gone. Yet, with each graceful gesture, the pain of her injuries reminded her of the day she had hurt herself. Her hand trembled, and she coughed quietly as a little bit of blood appeared on her palm once more.
Su Yubing then walked to the mobile food cart that sat in the center of the hall. A faint smile tried to appear on her face, but it quickly vanished. With a low, unhappy tone, she whispered, "Hmmph.. You never used to raise your voice at me before."
..
..
Later that night,
Mo Yuxin took a deep breath as she left the hall. The cool night air brushed against her skin as she made her way to Yuan peak, the peak where her third junior sister Tianji Yuan resides. Recently, whispers in the sect had reached her ears that the Yuan Peak Dharma Hall was strangely empty. With quiet determination, Mo Yuxin strode along the winding mountain paths toward the sacred peak.
When she arrived at the gate of the Yuan Peak Dharma Hall, she found the large wooden doors wide open and the courtyard eerily silent. The usual bustle of junior disciples, reciting scriptures or polishing their weapons, was absent. Mo Yuxin hesitated for a moment, her eyes scanning the empty hall. She knew something must be wrong.
A guard disciple, standing near the entrance, noticed her and quickly stepped forward. His young face showed both respect and concern as he bowed. "Second Senior Sister, welcome. May I ask what brings you here tonight?"
Mo Yuxin offered a gentle smile, though her eyes held worry. "I came to see Junior Sister Tianji Yuan. I heard that the Dharma Hall is empty today."
The guard disciple nodded and lowered his voice. "I'm sorry to say, Second Senior Sister, that Third Junior Sister Tianji Yuan is not here. In fact, I have heard that she rarely stays at her own peak. She often goes to Lingshu Mountain Peak, which lies right beside the Yuan Mountain Peak."
Mo Yuxin's eyebrows rose in surprise. "Lingshu Mountain Peak?" she asked softly. "Then I must go there at once." Without wasting another moment, she thanked the guard disciple and set off along the narrow path that led to Lingshu Mountain Peak.
The moonlight lit her way as she climbed the rugged trail. The cool night was filled with the chirping of crickets and the whisper of the wind through pine trees. Mo Yuxin's thoughts raced with concern for her junior sister. She had heard little about why Tianji Yuan chose to spend her nights away from the Yuan Peak Dharma Hall. Now, Mo Yuxin had only one thought in her mind: to find her and see if she was well.
After a short while, the path opened into a clearing where the soft glow of lanterns could be seen. As she neared, she heard gentle laughter and soft voices that carried on the wind. The sound of quiet conversation mixed with occasional murmurs of intimacy. Mo Yuxin slowed her pace and crept closer, careful not to disturb what might be a private moment.
When she reached the edge of the clearing, she saw two figures sitting under a blossoming tree. One of them was unmistakably Junior Sister Tianji Yuan, her dark hair cascading around her gentle face, her eyes warm and kind. Sitting close by was another woman—Bai Lingsu, the Fifth Junior Sister. The two were so near that their hands brushed and their laughter intertwined. They seemed lost in their own world, sharing secrets and warmth beneath the soft light of the moon.
Mo Yuxin's eyes widened in surprise. For a long moment, she stood still in the shadows, watching the two with a mixture of astonishment and curiosity. Their closeness was unexpected. As the moments passed, they suddenly became aware of a presence. Tianji Yuan's laughter faded into silence, and Bai Lingsu's eyes darted toward the darkened trail. Their bodies stiffened, and then they quickly separated, sitting apart from one another in awkward silence.
"Second Senior Sister," Tianji Yuan said, her voice trembling as she rose to greet Mo Yuxin. The term was used with deep respect among their sect, and her tone was gentle, even though her eyes betrayed her surprise.
Mo Yuxin's face showed genuine shock. "Tianji Yuan, Bai Lingsu… What is going on here?" she asked in a tone that mixed astonishment with warmth. There was no anger in her voice—only curiosity and a touch of amusement at the unexpected scene.
Bai Lingsu looked up, her face a mixture of bashfulness and pride. "We… we did not expect you to come here so soon, Second Senior Sister," she said softly. "I must confess that we have become Taoist companions. Our hearts have grown close as we study and practice together."
Tianji Yuan nodded in agreement. "Yes, Second Senior Sister, we have found in each other a kindred spirit. Our practices have merged in a way that feels very natural. We share our thoughts, our strengths, and even our weaknesses. It is a bond that goes beyond simple friendship. We love each other."
Mo Yuxin's eyes softened as she listened. "I see," she said, her voice calm and thoughtful. "I congratulate you both on finding such closeness. It is not often that one sees two hearts so in tune with each other."
The three of them sat for a long while in a comfortable silence, the tension easing into a warm conversation. The cool night air and the gentle glow of the lanterns created an atmosphere of intimacy and understanding. Mo Yuxin smiled gently and clapped a hand on Tianji Yuan's shoulder.
"Tell me, how did this come to be? I have always thought of you as a solitary spirit, wandering in search of your own truth. Now it seems you have found someone with whom you share your journey."
Tianji Yuan looked away shyly before speaking. "It began when I realized that my heart was no longer content with solitude. I began to feel the need for companionship—someone who understood the hardships of our path, who could share the joy and sorrow of our training. Bai Lingsu was there, with her calm insight and gentle humor. Slowly, our conversations turned into long nights of shared practice and eventually into something more… something beautiful."
Bai Lingsu added, "I have always admired Tianji Yuan's perseverance and kindness. In our time together, I discovered that her spirit was like a clear stream, and I, like the river, longed to flow beside her. We began to talk of our dreams and our hopes, and soon our hearts began to beat in unison."
Mo Yuxin nodded in quiet approval. "That is truly wonderful," she said sincerely. "The path of the Tao is full of surprises, and sometimes love finds us in the most unexpected places. I am happy for you both."
After a pause, Mo Yuxin's expression turned thoughtful. She hesitated before speaking, as if weighing her own words carefully. "There is something I must share with you," she began. "Something that has troubled my heart deeply and concerns my Taoist partner, Su Yubing."
Both Tianji Yuan and Bai Lingsu leaned in, their faces full of concern and compassion. "What has happened, Second Senior Sister?" asked Tianji Yuan, her voice tender.
Mo Yuxin took a slow, deep breath. "Earlier, with Su Yubing, we had a disagreement. I was very worried about her and I spoke in a tone that was harsher than I intended. Su Yubing's anger grew, and in her distress, she raised her spiritual power. In her pain, she said harsh words, saying that the fragment of the Samadhi True Fire that burned the painting could be discarded. I… I feel I have been too harsh with her." She paused, the memory of the painful moment visible in her eyes.
Bai Lingsu frowned gently, and Tianji Yuan reached out, placing a reassuring hand on Mo Yuxin's arm. "Second Senior Sister, you are always so careful and compassionate," Tianji Yuan said softly. "But please, do not be too hard on yourself. Su Yubing is your Taoist partner—a kindred spirit who shares the burden of our path. It is not right for you to scold her harshly, especially when she is struggling."
Bai Lingsu added in a tone of respectful admonition, "Your words must be gentle, for a woman like Su Yubing carries her own heavy burdens. As Taoist companions, we must support each other with kindness, not criticism. You must go back to her and apologize, for her heart is as delicate as it is fierce."
Mo Yuxin's eyes shone with remorse and understanding. "I know," she murmured. "I feel the weight of my harsh words every moment. I worry that in my concern, I have hurt her. I have always tried to guide her in the right way, but sometimes my methods are too strict. I want to mend this, to repair the hurt I caused."
