Melting Pot Concept in Marvel

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Too Normal...

Packing up an entire bio-lab was clearly no simple matter.

Aaron first picked out a few small items and had the staff bring a spider breeding box down to the underground parking garage. Accompanied by Norman and Felicia, he placed the items in the trunk and got into what used to be Norman's private Rolls-Royce.

On a side note, because Aaron had commandeered Norman's car, Norman was forced to buy a Jetta at his son Harry's suggestion.

Yes, even though Norman repeatedly cast disdainful looks at it, he claimed he needed to respect Harry's thoughts while also choosing a vehicle that "better suited his current status." But Aaron figured Norman was simply worried about the company's finances, so he had no choice but to opt for the lower-end "Fu-Jetta."

"My friend, you don't need to cut corners like that. Trust me," Aaron said, patting Norman on the shoulder before turning to Felicia. "You have a driver's license, right?"

"Of course, Boss!"

Felicia sat in the driver's seat somewhat awkwardly, taking in the soft cushions and luxurious interior of the Rolls-Royce with obvious excitement. Aaron got a slight headache just watching her—he couldn't help thinking letting her drive might be a bad idea.

But then again, he himself could drive but didn't have a license. He certainly didn't want to get pulled over halfway by the police, questioned about how someone with an Asian face got this car, and whether it was really his.

To his surprise, although Felicia's movements were a bit stiff, her actual driving skill was unexpectedly good. Must be a natural talent.

With a forced smile, Norman watched Aaron and Felicia depart. Then he turned to look at the plain, unimpressive Jetta now belonging to him, heaved a sigh, and muttered, "At least we've got that healing serum…we should be able to bring in a good amount of funding, right?"

Shaking his head in frustration, Norman couldn't help thinking, Why is it that I'm no longer the head of the company, yet my workload has doubled?

"Boss, where to next?"

"To my place—XXX," Aaron answered offhandedly, lost in thought about what he needed to do next. He didn't notice Felicia's face slowly turning red, nor that her driving became a bit tense and unsteady.

Aaron frowned slightly but said nothing. He could understand—she was a newbie driver, so he ought to be patient. Poor driving skills could be improved with practice, and he was willing to teach her personally.

They drove in silence.

Meanwhile…

"Hello, Ms. Bishop. My name is Adeline. I specialize in gymnastics, jujitsu, taekwondo, kickboxing, boxing, wrestling—close-quarters combat. I also hold titles in various competitions," said a tall blonde woman.

"I'm also proficient in mid- to long-range weapons, like spears or staves. Once, during a self-defense incident, I defeated three men weighing about two hundred pounds each without a scratch on myself."

"I'm also fluent in English, French, and Italian…"

Kate and Eleanor watched this young blonde speak confidently, listing one achievement after another. The two of them stayed quiet for a while, observing. From appearance alone, the woman couldn't be older than her early twenties, definitely not thirty. Though fairly tall—around 5'11"—she was slim and well-proportioned. She in no way looked like a bulky "tank woman," let alone a "muscle Barbie."

"Um, Ms. Adeline, you do realize we're not…writing a thesis here…" Eleanor gently reminded her.

Adeline nodded, as though she'd anticipated that. From her briefcase, she produced document after document:

"These are my language certificates. Here's my high school gymnastics championship award, my national boxing championship certificates, my wrestling achievements, and the second place I got at a weapons-based combat event…"

"Oh, and here's my firearm license. I'm not a bad shot."

"And this is a court ruling confirming that in an incident of justified self-defense, I accidentally killed one man, severely injured two more, and…well, 'busted three eggs.'"

"Ms. Bishop, Ms. Kate—everything is fully verifiable. You can look me up online. It's all 100% legit!"

"My goodness! You're…incredible!" Eleanor exclaimed. At a quick phone call, a file soon arrived confirming everything: it was all real. This gorgeous, capable girl was quite the hidden treasure!

Adeline smiled. "When I heard Miss Kate already aspires to be a professional fighter and combat expert at such a young age, it reminded me of myself back then. To master these skills, I practically gave up on academics and never dated. Hard to believe, right? But in fact, I've never even been in a relationship."

"That's how I could pick up so many abilities at my age."

Eleanor opened her mouth, then cautiously asked, "So…Ms. Adeline, do you have any regrets?"

"No regrets at all!" Adeline shook her head. "When I frontally took down three men with bad intentions, that's when I knew all my efforts had been worth it! Besides, I met little Kate here—she's got a gift. In her eyes I see strong resolve. That's why I decided to lend her a hand and teach her everything I know!"

"I believe that by the time Miss Kate reaches my age—or maybe even younger—she could become one of the world's top fighters!"

Hearing this, Kate's eyes lit up. "Mom, let's pick her! I think she can be one of my teachers!"

Eleanor extended her hand. "Then, Ms. Adeline, here's to our cooperation!"

"Likewise!"

Not long after, Aaron received a text from Kate: You'll never guess what I've been up to!

Aaron smiled. Before he could reply, another message arrived: I found a super powerful female teacher! She knows so many different things!

His face changed slightly. Does she know Russian and Latin?

A moment later, Kate answered: She says she doesn't. She's not interested in that stuff.

Aaron let out a breath of relief and asked Kate for the teacher's name. A quick search turned up plenty of info—indeed, the girl was incredibly gifted, a certified young "prodigy." Looking at all the photos of Adeline racking up trophies online, Aaron propped his chin, lost in thought.

This all seems a bit too normal…too smooth, too easy…?

That's suspicious…when everything looks too normal, it's actually not normal at all.
