Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Marathon...
"Felicia, you really are disappointing!"
"Sniff… I'm sorry…"
"When you apologize, what are you supposed to do?"
"W-what… Bow?"
"Hmm?"
"Uuhh… sniff…"
"Don't cry. You still have work to finish even if you're crying!"
One minute later,
After reprimanding his secretary, Aaron stood up and ordered takeout for two.
In truth, he didn't need to eat that often.
Ever since acquiring Energy Control and Lightning Control, he could continuously absorb electricity and other forms of energy, storing them in his body. This allowed him to go for a while without food if he chose.
Of course, he still needed to replenish certain essential nutrients occasionally to maintain his body's needs. But having been a foodie before crossing over, he simply couldn't go without the enjoyment of flavor. He ate more for pleasure than necessity.
When the takeout arrived, Aaron handed one portion to Felicia. Seeing her fiddling with her phone, he asked:
"What are you doing?"
Felicia held up her screen. "I've been contacting Professor Connors and Dr. Octavius for you, Boss. I just got their phone numbers. They're very interested in your proposal and are eager to meet you as soon as possible."
Aaron's mouth twitched faintly. Even though Felicia was worn out—her eyes still tearful—she was still working through the pain. Such loyalty, diligence, and dependability!
"If even you won't improve, then who would?"
"Tell them to come to Oscorp tomorrow to see me," Aaron said casually, setting things down and sitting on the edge of the bed, looking straight at Felicia.
"B… Boss?"
"You're too weak—nowhere near enough to satisfy me."
Felicia panicked, quickly scrambling up from her seat, "I—I'll work harder! I can start training tomorrow—no, tonight! I also do yoga and other advanced—"
Aaron raised his hand. Felicia fell silent, staring at him nervously.
"That sounds nice, but I've already made my decision."
Recalling her humiliating "three-second disaster," Felicia couldn't help showing despair in her eyes.
Aaron placed his hand on her, and a beam of light shone from his palm, entering Felicia's body. In the next moment, she felt a massive change. The exhaustion that had been plaguing her vanished, replaced by a surge of power. But right after that, her stomach rumbled loudly, an intense hunger hitting her so hard she grabbed the takeout without a second thought and devoured it.
Watching this, Aaron gradually channeled more energy into her body, easing her hunger.
He couldn't help wondering why he'd never felt such strong cravings when he was strengthened, but Felicia did. Maybe it was because his own body had been reshaped by the Primordial Furnace?
With Aaron's help, Felicia's body finally received enough energy to undergo its transformation.
"W-what happened to me? My body feels so strange…"
Aaron chuckled softly. "You were too weak, so I gave you a few special abilities—super strength, a super-physique, electrostatic control, spider-sense, super agility, web-shooting, a degree of regeneration, plus some radiation resistance."
"Congratulations—you're Spider-Woman now!"
"Huh?" Felicia gaped in utter disbelief.
"You can now lift objects weighing around 15 to 20 tons; you can walk easily on a 90-degree wall; your reaction speed can let you avoid most dangers; and as for web-shooting…"
"Like this…"
Aaron spread his hands, firing several strands of web in bizarre patterns that wrapped Felicia up.
For a second, he was a bit dazed himself—this must be the 'Master Weaver' skill, the pinnacle of web-work. So that's what it meant! A real textbook case of web-binding.
Felicia stared at the sticky threads encircling her body. They were strong, but she had a hunch that she could have easily dodged them earlier. However, her body hadn't sensed any danger, and out of trust in Aaron, she'd forced herself not to move. Plus, if she struggled a bit, she had a feeling she might actually break free.
She lifted her head, a complicated gleam in her eyes. It all suddenly made sense:
No wonder Norman Osborn treated him with such deference.
No wonder she had been so pitifully defeated in seconds.
Everything was logical now!
Aaron wasn't just some normal person—he was a godlike being who had descended among mortals!
Just then, the computer by the bedroom door turned on by itself, as though manipulated by an unseen force, and switched to a screen showing footage of Aaron swinging through the air in New York City with Kate in his arms.
"Oh my god!"
"Boss—you really are God Himself!"
"I—I…"
"Don't speak. Just take your time to let it sink in."
Seeing that Felicia was still in a daze, Aaron didn't waste time explaining further; he "sealed the doors of the car" again.
This time, Felicia still lost, but she was happier about it. She was now a hundred times stronger!
That night, Aaron "played a marathon session of League" until morning—testing "Spellthief Zoe," "Tahm Kench," pairing them with various runes like Grasp of the Undying and Lethal Tempo, plus Jarvan IV's skill combos. Same old trick, used over and over.
…
Next Day
By the time the sun was high in the sky…
After a perfect morning workout or two, Aaron took Felicia to the company. When they reached his office, they saw that two middle-aged men were already waiting.
"Where's Norman?" Aaron looked around. It was rare not to see him. Without overthinking it, he had someone bring in Dr. Connors and Dr. Octavius.
