Chapter 125: 125. Power
Well.....the answer was simple, Power.
He had become too powerful, too quick and some other factors too (Kurumi ), right now nothing in this world could threaten him.
Senju Hashirama and Uchiha Madara weren't even a threat anymore. Even the Otsostsukis couldn't kill him due to Idle Transfiguration and Maharoga's ability.
Power was corrupting him, giving him a sense of superiority. Itsuki understood that but he didn't freak out as he already had a set of principles that he wouldn't violate no matter what.
His principles were simple, no matter what kind of demon he became he would never neglect his family.
As long as his kids and wives were fine then everything was okay. He knew himself and knew that he wouldn't go as far as to slaughter entire villages to gain something, and the only few times he committed a massacre were in Kusagakure and Kyouka's village.
Kusa wasn't directly done by him but by his summoning spirit, but she wouldn't have gone on a killing spree without his acquisition.
It was in his favour Kusa didn't have many civilians due to it being an oppressive and exploitative village.
The normal civilians only stayed in the neighbouring villages in the Land of Grass. So he didn't have any psychological burden getting rid of the trash. There weren't many children to be spared and the ones that were there were the same assholes as the adults in the village.
He just mindwiped them and left them in different villages in the elemental nations. He left a shadow clone to make sure that they integrate well into the village, with their memories wiped they were just kids and not arrogant little shits like the Kusa shinobi.
{ It was a mistake on my part, most of the time while I write I visualize the scene in my mind like I am watching a movie so sometimes I forget to mention details. Kusa was a massacre but the Kusagakure in this novel is purely a corrupt shinobi village with no civilians. }
So letting them live new lives as farmers or hunters was a kind of kindness on his part. Although memory manipulation was slightly distasteful he felt it was better than eradicating them together with the scum of the village.
Although he wasn't Chinese and didn't have the habit of cutting grass and killing chickens he still didn't have the idea of letting any enemies go, if they left then that would be with their memories of him wiped.
The reason he killed the people in Kyouka's village was purely selfish, he could have wiped all their memories but he decided on the most extreme path by killing them all.
If he wanted to hide his tracks he could have just wiped their memories but because he was filled with disgust and rage he just went ahead and killed them. he didn't even consider any other option.
In a way, he had decided the fate of these people through his decisions because he had the power to determine whether they could live or die.
He felt a bit confused after he got rid of them but due to his sensei's gentle treatment, he got over it.
But he also acknowledged the fact that their continued existence wouldn't have affected him in any other way and the reason he killed them was purely personal.
Tsunade was just comforting him to get him out of his moping session, he understood the consequences of his decisions and he would live with them.
If given the option, Itsuki would make the same decision because in his eyes those villagers were just animals and rabid animals needed to be put down. Since they were able to take up arms against a 3-year-old child then there isn't anything else they might be unwilling to do.
Kyouka's fate was even more terrible if he thought about it, she was a very beautiful woman and these people in the mob would do many things to trample on her dignity and humiliate her as that would give them a sense of superiority and a feeling of pleasure for dealing with a bloodline user like that.
Mobs were crazy and with the mob mentality the people would commit all kinds of atrocities, the witch hunts that happened back on Earth were a prime example.
Humans can justify and dignify any disgusting and atrocious act they commit as long as there is a reason for it. They can do anything as long as they have a righteous reason for it, in this case, these villagers were getting rid of the evil bloodline users.
He could have tried to understand things from their perspective but he didn't bother as he was also getting rid of them for the righteous reason in his heart, but at least he didn't try to kill any children.
The children got the same treatment as the ones in Kusagakure.
He was strong so he could decide their fates, it was a bit cold and wrong to think like that, but in the end that was the truth. He would never allow that to happen to his family or close ones.
He never wanted to be on the other side of somebody else's judgement.
Thus he needed power, and he couldn't afford to ever stop training, it's not that he was power hungry but power was necessary for him to keep everyone safe...
