Miracle Summoner

Chapter 2053: -2012- A numbers game

"Boom!"

Amidst the turmoil of the chaotic streets, as the incantation of 〈Fire Realm Incantation〉 echoed, flames erupted from beneath Rozen's feet like a volcanic eruption, transforming into a raging inferno that surged outward.

The flames billowed like waves, expanding as they rolled forward—like a crimson avalanche crashing toward the incoming horde of shikigami.

A group of specially modified Nio and Yaksha advanced with astonishing speed, as if roller wheels had been affixed to their feet. The moment they were about to collide with the oncoming firestorm, their formation suddenly changed.

As the lighter guardian-type shikigami, the Yasha swiftly and orderly retreated.

Meanwhile, the heavier Nioh stepped forward, seamlessly filling the gaps left by the Yasha, forming a defensive line.

In their hands, they raised massive shields—each one as enormous as their own towering forms.

The shields were engraved with jutsuryoku inscriptions, glowing eerily as they activated a unique technique. A barrier unfolded in front of the shields, protecting the Nioh.

Even the weapons wielded by the shikigami incorporated defensive barriers.

With their shields raised and barriers deployed, the Nioh charged into the flames. Their sheer force shattered the firestorm of the 〈Fire Realm Incantation〉, scattering the inferno into nothingness.

"Amazing..."

Witnessing this scene, Kyoko was left in awe.

Even Rozen raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

"Now this is interesting."

That Shigeoka Shunsuke could control so many guardian-type shikigami at once was already impressive. But now, seeing how he deployed them in such disciplined formations, combined with their specialized abilities, it was clear that he had put in an immense amount of effort in this field.

A national-class Onmyoji who could not fight on the front lines had instead devoted himself entirely to mastering shikigami manipulation, making full use of his uniquely vast jutsuryoku to command such a massive number of guardian-types at once.

Now, as the Nioh, with their barriers and shields, dispersed the flames of the 〈Fire Realm Incantation〉, the Yasha behind them took advantage of their cover—each one leaping into the air like a wild beast, pouncing toward Rozen.

In their hands, they wielded cudgels inscribed with intricate jutsuryoku seals, forming a distinct technique.

With just a glance, Rozen immediately recognized its function—a technique that allowed shikigami to manipulate Metal Energy in attacks.

If struck by those cudgels, it would be no different from being hit head-on by a multi-ton truck.

"Looks like our 'Colonel' has put in plenty of effort just to deal with a notorious jujutsu criminal like me."

To take on Rozen, Shigeoka Shunsuke had evidently modified his shikigami army extensively, enhancing their combat abilities significantly.

"In that case, let's see who's better at this game."

A smirk formed on Rozen's lips as he pulled out a stack of talismans.

These were shikifu—shikigami talismans.

"Summon Shikigami."

With a surge of jutsuryoku, he infused the talismans with power and scattered them into the air.

In the next instant, some of the shikifu soared skyward, transforming into semi-transparent azure swallows, while others landed on the ground, materializing into semi-transparent giant cats.

These were none other than the 〈WA1·Swallow Whip〉 and 〈WA2·Cat Bind〉—binding-type shikigami commonly used by Magic Crimes Investigation Department agents.

"Go."

Under Rozen's command, his shikigami army surged forward. The Swallow Whips streaked across the sky like shooting stars, while the Cat Binds dashed along the ground like beams of light.

In terms of performance, the Swallow Whips and Cat Binds, being binding-types, were naturally inferior to the Nioh and Yasha, which were guardian-types.

The Swallow Whips and Cat Binds were designed for restraining and capturing opponents, whereas the Nioh and Yasha were combat specialists, often deployed in Spiritual Disaster purification operations. The Shigeoka-modified versions were even more advanced—far superior to ordinary Nioh and Yasha.

However, under Rozen's control, the situation was flipped on its head.

The Swallow Whips first darted toward the airborne Yasha. As the Yasha swung their Metal Energy-imbued cudgels, the Swallow Whips twisted through the air in perfect formation, skillfully evading each strike before wrapping around the cudgels, transforming into binding spells that immobilized them.

Taking advantage of this opening, the remaining Swallow Whips launched forward, forming glowing tendrils that coiled around the Yasha's arms and legs, tightly binding each one.

One by one, the Yaksha crashed to the ground with thunderous force.

Simultaneously, the Cat Binds leaped toward the Nioh. Unfazed by their barriers and heavy charges, they lunged directly at their heads, wrapping around both the Nioh and their barriers, toppling them entirely.

In the blink of an eye, all the Nioh and Yasha lay sprawled across the ground, ensnared by the countless Swallow Whips and Cat Binds, completely immobilized.

"What?!"

Far from the battlefield, inside an Exorcism Bureau transport vehicle, a man seated in the cargo hold abruptly opened his eyes. He had been maintaining a mudra hand seal, channeling power into his shikigami.

Dressed in a military-style barrier-resistant uniform, a peaked cap resting on his head, he bore a severe and stern expression—like a hardened general.

This was Shigeoka Shunsuke, the renowned 'Colonel'—an Independent Exorcist of the highest caliber.

As the most efficient exorcist in the entire Exorcism Bureau, a model among his peers, Shigeoka Shunsuke had immediately deployed his Garuda upon receiving word from the Onmyo Agency, reaching the battlefield faster than anyone.

Of course, he had never intended to capture Rozen alone.

As a late-blooming national-class Onmyoji, Shigeoka Shunsuke knew that if even veterans like Miyachi Iwao, Yuge Mari, and Kogure Zenjirou had failed to subdue this magic crime suspect, he alone stood no chance.

He was not a reckless man. His strict discipline and pragmatism made him avoid futile efforts.

His plan was simple—use his shikigami army to stall Rozen, buying time until the Twelve Divine Generals arrived to coordinate an overwhelming capture operation.

But now, his entire shikigami army had been wiped out in an instant—defeated by nothing more than capture-type shikigami.

"Tch!"

Scowling, Shigeoka Shunsuke let out a sharp snort and poured more jutsuryoku into his spell. His Garuda descended from the sky, scattering yet another volley of shikifu, summoning a fresh wave of Nioh and Yasha into battle.

Unfortunately for him...

"A numbers game? That's never been a problem for me!"

Without even bothering to look, Rozen casually tossed out another stack of shikifu.

The battlefield was instantly flooded with countless Swallow Whips and Cat Binds, forming a sea of shikigami.

The newly summoned Nioh and Yasha were instantly overwhelmed and engulfed, their forms completely obscured.

"This..."

Shigeoka Shunsuke was utterly stunned.

Even Kyoko, watching from afar, was left speechless, never imagining that Rozen could summon and control such an impossible number of shikigami at once.

And yet, this was just a mere appetizer.

Soon enough, the world would witness—the true power of Rozen, a Summoner.
