Chapter 240: Souvenir Golem
After the three golems were taken down, all they had left was the remaining android, who was fighting against Megan and Alice in the room adjacent to the main hall.
The two women were able to avoid any significant attack, so they only had a few scratches and bruises that didn't hinder their movements.
When they heard the sound of police sirens arriving at the museum, the pair knew they were running out of time. Still, since the three golems had been taken down, the rest of the group joined them.
The android was able to keep himself alive against the two women, but after Balthazar, Irina, and Zac arrived, the battle ended in mere seconds, as the group needed to evacuate.
"Where is Dante!?" Megan asked with urgency.
"He went down to destroy the underground room!" Zac replied.
The group made their way back to the main hall beside the sinkhole, waiting for Dante to return, impatiently tapping their feet on the floor.
As the warlock landed back down on the bone golem factory, he saw that there were still a few golems being made. Moreover, the machinery around him was operating without a hitch.
Dante didn't know what the machines' functions were, but he thought it would be best to destroy everything, casting a few destro spells that turned the place and the golems in production to dust.
When the entire underground room began crumbling down, Dante extruded his black wings and flew back to the surface, where his team was waiting for him.
Seeing one of the golem's bodies lying on the floor, Dante told Zac to get on top of it and hold it tightly.
"Huh? Okay… But why?" The redhead asked as he got on top of the golem, holding it by the notches on its shoulders.
Without answering his question, Dante grabbed Zac and started flying away through the glass dome on the ceiling while the redhead struggled to carry the golem's body with his arms.
Meanwhile, Balthazar snatched Alice, and Irina grabbed Megan, following the warlock out of the museum, which had been completely surrounded by police vehicles.
"Nghh… Dante… This thing is heavy!" Zac said while carrying the golem in the air.
"Just a bit more, hold on," Dante replied.
Zac's face was getting red, and the veins on his forehead popped out, believing that the golem weighed more than a car.
"Why are we even taking this thing!?" The redhead asked in his struggle.
"I thought Miss Paige would be interested in a real golem…" Dante replied.
Zac felt slightly annoyed at Dante's carefree attitude, realizing that taking the golem's body wasn't actually crucial to their mission. Nonetheless, he couldn't simply drop it on the streets from such a height.
After the group flew for a few minutes and reached the outskirts of Ulport, Dante descended so his friend could rest his arms.
"Seriously? A golem souvenir?" Zac asked while huffing tiredly.
"Is it bad?" Dante pondered aloud, raising an eyebrow.
*Sigh* "No, dude. I'm sure she'll like it…" Zac replied, giving up on common sense.
The group had to stop a few more times before reaching the rural airport outside the city to allow Zac and Dante to rest.
Megan realized they wouldn't be able to take the golem with them on the plane, so she called Camille and told her about the situation, prompting the handler to send a cargo plane to the airport to pick it up.
By the time they safely arrived at the vampires' manor, they had a group call with Camille, where they explained everything they had seen in detail.
The handler suspected that the Azure Rebels led them there to inform them of the golem factory and praised the group for destroying it along with the remaining golems.
Camille understood that it wasn't possible to complete the mission stealthily, so she didn't blame them for the destruction of the museum.
The mission's next location, pinpointed by the coordinates, was the city of Parton, located on the northwestern peninsula of Novaria.
Not wanting to waste any time now that the attack on the museum would become known to the other mafia factions, Camille asked the four members of the Omega Team to go to Parton the next day.
Asphodel called two of her children—Laurent, the vampire lord, and Madeline, the sentinel—to accompany the Omega Team to Parton.
"Do I really have to go? There is this new game coming out tomorrow…" Madeline said with a disinterested tone.
Nevertheless, the girl knew she couldn't go against her Mother's wishes, so she reluctantly accepted to join the mission.

Somewhere on the outskirts of the city of Ventis in the northern side of the country, Oskar sat behind his desk, nervously fidgeting his fingers.
Suddenly, he received a call that made him sharpen his gaze, straightening his back before picking up the phone.
"Yes?" Oskar said.
["I heard about my golem factory… Not even one of the perpetrators was caught, huh?"] Netherius said on the line.
"It seems that way…" the rebel leader said.
["Quite unfortunate. That factory was well hidden… You wouldn't happen to have told them of its location, correct?"] Netherius muttered, his tone slightly sarcastic.
"You know I haven't had any interactions with the other mafia factions…" Oskar said as a small drop of sweat came down his temple. Still, his tone of voice didn't waver.
["Mhmm, you are right. You wouldn't put your precious family in danger…"] Netherius commented.
["Well, we can't be too careful… Now that they discovered that factory, then there is a chance they'll target 'those' areas as well…"] he continued.
The necromancer explained that he would be sending some reinforcements to the north to help protect his property, which made Oskar frown with dissatisfaction.
Any time that Netherius said he would "help them out," the necromancer would end up sending a monster that Oskar believed came straight out of nightmares.
Still, his secret plan with Alexander Spring was going in the right direction, hoping that the Jade Dragons would be able to endure it until the end.
