Chapter 178: Stolen Moments
Raelynn sat curled up on the plush couch in the library. Her legs were tucked beneath her, a thick romance novel open in her hands. The subtle scent of old books mixed with the faint aroma of blooming roses from the nearby garden, creating a serene atmosphere. The pages of her book whispered as she flipped them, completely absorbed in the passionate exchange unfolding between the rich, brooding male lead and the sweet, struggling female lead.
Her heart raced a little as she read the pivotal moment—when the two leads finally gave in to their emotions. Raelynn's fingers gripped the edges of the book tighter, her eyes wide with anticipation.
"Finally," she whispered to herself, a small, excited smile tugging at her lips.
The creak of the heavy library door broke the silence. Raelynn barely had time to look up before Elion's deep voice filled the room.
"I knew you were here," he said, his tone laced with a mixture of fondness and authority.
Raelynn glanced up, her smile softening as she saw him standing by the door. His silver hair caught the light, and his dark eyes were focused entirely on her. "You're good at finding me," she mused.
Elion strode forward, his footsteps muffled by the thick carpet, and without a word, he eased himself down beside her, resting his head on her lap. His closeness brought a sudden warmth, his soft dark strands brushing against her fingers.
Raelynn hesitated for a moment before returning her attention to the book, though she found it harder to focus with Elion's presence so near. She continued reading, the corners of her mouth twitching as she fought the urge to run her fingers through his hair.
Elion, however, had other plans. He let her read in silence for a few moments, but then, with a quiet sigh, his hand reached up and gently tugged the book from her grasp.
"Hey—" Raelynn protested lightly, but he was already holding it out of reach.
"I don't like being ignored," he murmured, his eyes glinting with playful irritation.
Raelynn arched a brow. "Not my fault you decided to come in when I was busy. You could have waited."
Elion's smirk deepened. "I didn't want to wait."
Raelynn let out a small chuckle before reaching up to pat Elion's head as if he were some cute child. "Be a good boy and don't disturb my reading," she teased, her fingers ruffling through his dark strands.
Elion's playful smirk faded into a flat look, his gaze darkening—not with danger, but clear disapproval. The book he had been holding was no longer in his hand but now rested at the far end of the couch, abandoned without a second thought.
"No," he said simply, his voice carrying a quiet stubbornness. "I want you now."
Raelynn blinked, amused by his sheer audacity. "Elion," she started, shifting to sit up straighter, but he was already moving closer, his hands pressing into the cushions on either side of her.
"What?" His lips curled slightly, his head tilting just a bit, as if daring her to push him away.
Raelynn sighed, crossing her arms. "You're stubborn."
"I know," he replied smoothly, completely unbothered.
She rolled her eyes, but there was no real annoyance behind it. "And if I say no?"
Elion hummed thoughtfully, then leaned in just a fraction closer. "You won't."
Her heart gave a small, traitorous lurch at his confidence, but she masked it well, keeping her expression calm. "You sound very sure of yourself."
"I usually am," he admitted shamelessly.
His fingers traced delicate patterns along her thigh, slow and deliberate. A soft shiver ran up Raelynn's spine, her breath hitching despite herself. She tried to maintain her composure, but it was nearly impossible with the way his cool touch sparked heat beneath her skin.
"Elion—" she started, her voice faltering as he shifted, his lips brushing the curve of her neck.
"Hmm?" he hummed against her skin, his breath feather-light.
Raelynn bit her lower lip as he trailed soft kisses up her neck, pausing at her cheek before finally capturing her lips. The kiss was deep and slow, making her toes curl with how easily he stole her breath away.
She finally pulled back, her hands on his chest. "We… we can't do this here."
Elion chuckled lowly. "Understood."
Without another word, he slipped his arms beneath her and lifted her effortlessly. Raelynn gasped, her arms instinctively wrapping around his neck.
"Elion!" she yelped, though she couldn't hide the giddy smile on her face.
"Too late," he said, carrying her out of the library.
The mansion's hallways blurred around them as he strode confidently upstairs. Raelynn felt the rapid beat of her heart thundering in her chest, both from excitement and nervousness. Her face flushed as Elion kicked open the door to his room and crossed the threshold.
He gently laid her down on the bed, the mattress dipping beneath her weight, before following her down, his body hovering above hers. The moonlight filtering through the large windows cast silver patterns on the sheets, bathing them in a soft glow.
Raelynn barely had time to catch her breath before Elion's lips found hers again. She tangled her fingers in his hair, feeling its silky strands slide through her grasp. Elion's jacket was already gone, and with a quick movement, he pulled off his shirt, revealing the smooth planes of his chest.
Raelynn's breath caught in her throat as she hesitantly traced a finger along the sharp lines of his collarbone. Elion's eyes darkened, his hand brushing against the hem of her top before he gently pulled it down just enough to kiss the newly exposed skin.
Her mind swirled with sensation, every soft peck leaving a trail of heat that made her heart race. Raelynn tilted her head back, closing her eyes as Elion continued, his kisses both tender and consuming.
She let herself get lost in the moment, feeling every little peck and touch as if the world outside the room had completely faded away.
