Chapter 129: Back to City

"Is that all you need?" Brook asked, his voice calm but curious. Yelena also turned her gaze toward Drake, waiting for his response.

"Yes, that'll be enough," Drake said, picking up the Revenant's head and carefully storing it away in his inventory.

Brook seemed to relax slightly but still looked intrigued as Drake asked, "What do you think of the other guilds? Do you believe they'll succeed in raiding their respective dungeons?"

Brook crossed his arms, his expression thoughtful. "I don't think so," he admitted. "We're all at the same level of strength, more or less. I was feeling reassured having you three along. Without you, I doubt they'll manage to clear their raids successfully, at least not on the first attempt."

Milly smirked slightly. "Sounds like we were the deciding factor."

Brook nodded earnestly. "You were. I won't deny it. Even with my guild's strength, this raid would've been a gamble without your help. The others won't have that kind of support."

Drake's gaze turned calculating as he considered Brook's words. "Then we'll see how things unfold. Their success or failure won't matter to us we just need Revenant heads."

Brook raised an eyebrow at Drake's words. "You need another Revenant head too?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.

Drake nodded. "I need it for our fourth partner. She's injured, and her class advancement requires the Revenant's head," he explained, his tone steady but firm.

Brook considered this for a moment before nodding. "I'll help you set up a meeting with the other guilds. If they've failed, there might still be a chance to negotiate access to their dungeon," he offered.

Drake gave a nod of appreciation. "Thank you, Brook."

The group departed the dungeon, mounting their respective mounts and heading toward the Imperial City. The journey was quiet but purposeful, each of them reflecting on the challenges they had overcome and the potential hurdles ahead.

Upon arriving in the bustling Imperial City, they were met with curious gazes from onlookers. One of Brook's guild members approached quickly, his expression a mix of excitement and apprehension. "Did you succeed?" he asked eagerly.

Brook nodded, and the guild member's face lit up with a mixture of relief and pride. "We did," Brook confirmed.

The guild member's shout of joy echoed through the square, drawing the attention of other guilds nearby. A murmur spread quickly as the news traveled. One guild representative approached, his expression a mix of congratulations and restrained envy.

"Congratulations on becoming the number one guild of the Imperial City," the man said, his voice tinged with respect but also a hint of bitterness.

Brook's eyes widened slightly, confused by the title. "Number one?" he echoed, glancing at the man with furrowed brows.

Drake, on the other hand, understood immediately. "It seems the other guilds have failed their raids," he said, a hint of understanding and amusement in his voice.

Brook's confusion gave way to realization as he looked back at the man. "I see… thank you for the congratulations," he said finally, his tone measured.

The weight of their success—and the failure of others—settled over the group as the implications of their new status became clear.

Brook exchanged glances with Drake, the implications of their newfound status sinking in. While the title of the top guild in the Imperial City was prestigious, it also came with challenges—jealousy, scrutiny, and expectations from other guilds and the Empire itself.

Drake's calm demeanor betrayed none of his thoughts as he turned to Brook. "This might work in our favor," he said quietly. "If we approach the failed guilds with the right offer, we might be able to secure another Revenant head without unnecessary conflict."

Brook nodded, still adjusting to the weight of their success. "You're right. Their pride might be wounded, but they'll have no choice but to consider a deal if they want to salvage anything from their attempts."

Yelena, standing nearby, added, "We should tread carefully. A cornered guild might act out of desperation." Her sharp gaze swept over the bustling city square, where whispers of their success had now turned into outright conversations.

As if on cue, a representative from a rival guild approached—a tall, armored woman with sharp features and a piercing gaze. She was flanked by two others, their expressions unreadable.

"Brook McLane," she began, her voice steady but laced with tension. "Congratulations on your success. It seems you've outdone us all."

Brook offered a polite smile. "Thank you, Meryl. It wasn't an easy raid."

Meryl nodded, her lips pressed into a thin line. "I can imagine. My guild failed at the final stage. The Revenant is relentless." Her gaze shifted to Drake and Yelena. "And these must be the ones responsible for tipping the scales in your favor?"

"They're part of the team, yes," Brook replied, choosing his words carefully.

Meryl studied Drake for a moment before speaking again. "I assume you'll be leveraging this success to secure more influence in the city."

Drake smiled faintly. "We're not here for influence or politics. Our interest lies elsewhere."

Meryl's eyebrows lifted slightly in surprise. "Elsewhere? Then perhaps we can negotiate. My guild still has unfinished business with the Revenant. If your team is willing, we could work together for a second attempt."

Brook glanced at Drake, who nodded subtly. "We might be open to that," Brook said. "Let's discuss terms in private."

Meryl's eyes narrowed slightly, but she nodded. "Very well. I'll meet you in the guild hall in an hour."

As she and her companions walked away, Brook turned to Drake. "What do you think?"

Drake's expression remained calm. "They'll need our help, but we need the Revenant head. If we frame it as a collaboration, they'll agree."

Yelena smirked. "And if they don't?"

Drake's eyes glinted coldly. "Then we'll take what we need by other means."

Brook sighed, but he couldn't disagree. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that."

The Trio hen walked after Meryl while Drake asked about Meryl from Brook as they followed after her.
