Chapter 131: The Revenants

For the next few days, Leon and his team focused on their goal of gathering the Revenant heads. Their journey was not a solitary one, as they engaged with other guilds along the way, forging temporary alliances to tackle the increasingly challenging dungeons. The addition of Brook and his team proved invaluable. His leadership, coupled with the group's formidable abilities, gave them the edge they needed to take on these dangerous foes.

The first Revenant they targeted after the Sword Revenant was the Bow Revenant. This particular boss was known for its unparalleled precision and long-range attacks, making it one of the most difficult opponents to confront directly. The team collaborated with the Graceful Phoenix Guild, whose vice-leader, Meryl Raven, brought valuable tactical insight and additional firepower. Together, they developed a strategy that revolved around limiting the Bow Revenant's range while keeping its Abyssal Archers and Death Liches occupied.

The battle was intense, with Liam(Roman) showcasing his Blood Magic to manipulate the battlefield while Milly(Roselia) used her ranged prowess to counter the Revenant's attacks. Brook acted as the frontline tank, enduring volley after volley of deadly arrows. After a grueling fight, the Revenant was defeated, and its head was added to their collection.

Next, the team turned their attention to the Spear Revenant. This boss was infamous for its lightning-fast attacks and its ability to summon waves of spectral soldiers. The fight demanded precise coordination, and the team enlisted the support of the Pride Dragon Guild, specialists in defensive combat. The fight against the Spear Revenant was chaotic, with the spectral soldiers repeatedly overwhelming the battlefield. Drake's (leon) swordsmanship and combat arts shone during this encounter, allowing him to keep the Revenant engaged while Liam and the Pride Dragon members dealt with the soldiers. The Spear Revenant's defeat came after a fierce battle of attrition, with Brook delivering the final blow that severed its spectral form.

Finally, they moved on to the Mage Revenant. This boss was considered the most dangerous of the four due to its devastating spells and ability to control the environment. The group collaborated with the Wise Griffin Guild, which specialized in magical combat. The fight against the Mage Revenant was a test of endurance, strategy, and resource management. The Revenant unleashed waves of firestorms, ice shards, and gravity fields, pushing the group to their limits. Meryl and her guildmates played a crucial role in neutralizing the Revenant's spells, while Leon and his team focused on counterattacks. After an exhausting encounter, the Mage Revenant fell, and its head joined the others.

With all four Revenant heads in their possession, the group celebrated their achievements. The battles had been arduous, but the rewards were well worth the effort. Now, sitting in a Inn room, leon and others now in their normal forms, they looked at the Map given by the Alchemist king.

"We now have the keys," Leon declared, holding the four Revenant heads in his hands. His tone was calm but carried the weight of anticipation. "Let's get this over with." His companions, Roselia and Roman, nodded silently, their expressions a mixture of determination and readiness.

Before proceeding, the trio decided to revert to their alternative personas—an effective strategy they had used to avoid drawing too much attention. Leon transformed back into Drake, the Swordmaster known for his unmatched skill in melee combat. His stance exuded confidence, his blade at his side ready for action.

Roselia shifted into Mily, the Golden Archer. Her transformation was seamless, as her appearance radiated elegance and precision, embodying the legacy of her title. Her golden bow shimmered faintly, a testament to the magic imbued within it.

Roman, meanwhile, assumed his role as Liam, the Blood Mage. His staff hummed with arcane power, and his crimson robes gave him an aura of mystery and menace. The Blood Magic Legacy he wielded seemed to ripple in the air around him, an ominous sign of his potential.

The three of them stood together, now fully prepared for the next phase of their journey.

"Drake," Mily said, looking at him with her usual steady gaze, "do you think this will be straightforward?"

Drake chuckled lightly, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. "When has anything ever been straightforward for us? But that's what makes it worthwhile."

Liam smirked, twirling his staff lazily. "At least we'll get a good show out of it. Let's hope the final boss doesn't disappoint."

Drake gestured toward the path ahead. "Let's move. The keys won't open themselves." Read new adventures at My Virtual Library Empire

They headed to the southern side of the Imperial City. In the days of the Kingdom, this area had been home to the Royal Palace, but now, it housed something far more sinister—the hidden domain of the True Undead King.

Following the map, they navigated the winding streets and alleys until they reached the entrance to an old underground sewer. It was a grim and desolate place, and they ensured no one was following them before slipping inside.

"Why does it have to be here of all places?" Mily complained, pinching her nose in distaste as the stench of the sewer hit them.

Leon surveyed the area, his sharp gaze catching sight of tar-like substances clinging to the walls and puddles of foul water gathering at their feet. He waved his hand, conjuring a cleansing barrier. The spell dispelled the filth around them, creating a clean and dry path.

"That's better," Mily said with a relieved sigh. Liam nodded in agreement.

As they walked, the group encountered a Sewer Demon—a grotesque creature that thrived in the toxic environment of the sewers. Leon quickly summoned a lesser purification spell, weakening the demon while Mily's arrows and Liam's blood magic finished it off. The Sewer Demon crumbled into ash, leaving behind purified water that drove away the plague rats infesting the area.

The trio pressed on, the air becoming heavier as they ventured deeper. Finally, they arrived at an immense tunnel, its ancient walls covered in eerie inscriptions. Leon stopped and pointed at a section of the wall where four empty slots had been carved.

"This is it," Leon said, his voice calm but edged with anticipation. He gestured toward the slots. "We'll need to place the Revenant heads here to unlock the way forward."
