Chapter 188: Dark Pact II

"Master, why did you call me?" All of its eyes focused on Leon, who quickly glanced at his Mana Bar, realizing he had less than a minute to form his Dark Pact before his mana ran out.

Leon met the leech's countless, eerie eyes and spoke firmly, "Form a pact with me."

The Abyssal Mana Leech King tilted its grotesque head slightly before bowing. "As you wish, Master."

Dark violet energy surged through the air as the pact began to take shape. A sinister, black tendril extended from the leech, wrapping around its own neck before slithering toward Leon's outstretched hand. The tendril coiled tightly around his wrist, burning a mark of servitude into his skin.

The pact formed was that of an master and Servant with leon being the Master and Leech being the Servant.

A notification flashed before Leon's eyes.

[Dark Pact Successful]

[ Your Maximum Mana have been increased by 10,000 % as a result of Dark Pact ]

[You have gained three abilities due to the Dark Pact with the Abyssal Mana Leech King.]

Abyssal Core

Allows you to covert mana into Abyss energy , store it and use it at will.

Caution: The Abyss' energy is highly corrosive and highly compatible with the undead. It will empower undead summons and enhance destructive spells, but it will corrupt healing abilities, turning them into poisonous magic.

Mana Drain

Grants the ability to steal mana from any living being and passively absorb mana at 30% of your maximum mana every second.

Caution: If you drain all the mana from a target, they will die.

Abyssal Mana Skin

Allows you to create a hardened armor of pure mana, reducing incoming damage and nullifying mana-based attacks.

The more mana you have, the stronger the armor.

As the pact completed, the Abyssal Mana Leech King let out a low chuckle. "My abilities and power are now yours to command, Master."

With that, the creature vanished into the abyss, leaving Leon standing alone, his mana reserves overflowing with newfound power.

"Good, now let's see if I can summon a Tier VII being and keep it in this world as long as I want," Leon mumbled as he began to imagine the creature he wished to create.

His Origin Conjurer ability allowed him to summon any being and maintain its existence as long as he could provide mana.

"I need something that can act in the shadows yet possesses powerful offensive abilities."

Leon focused, feeding a massive amount of mana into the spell. The shadows around him trembled, and soon, dark mist swirled in the air as a terrifying presence emerged.

From within the abyss, a ghostly figure materialized. It wore tattered robes, concealing most of its form except for a massive scythe in its skeletal grip. Its feet never touched the ground, hovering ominously in the air. The creature had a bony, lich-like face, empty sockets glowing with a cold, eerie blue flame.

It was the Dark Specter Reaper.

"Master." Its voice was an eerie, raspy whisper that echoed unnaturally.

Leon quickly checked his Mana Bar, seeing that his mana was decreasing at 1% per second. However, before it could become concerning, his mana reserves refilled instantly the next second.

"Great," Leon nodded, satisfied.

He turned to the Reaper and issued a command.

"Go and find the source of the Ability Crystals. If they are being produced illegally, kill everyone involved."

The Reaper's hollow eyes flared, its scythe igniting with black flames as it gave a slow nod.

Then, with a whisper of darkness, the Dark Specter Reaper vanished from the room, fading into the shadows like a grim executioner on a hunt.

As the Dark Specter Reaper disappeared, Leon exhaled, feeling the weight of his decision.

"Now… I just have to wait," he muttered, sitting down on his bed. His mind replayed everything he had learned about Ability Crystals—how they were created, how orphans like him were likely being sacrificed to produce them.

Meanwhile… Somewhere in the City

The night was silent, yet in the slums, whispers of death stirred.

A group of men in dark robes gathered around a table, their faces hidden beneath hoods. In the center of the table was a blood-red crystal, pulsing with an eerie glow.

"Tonight, we will begin another batch," one of them said coldly.

Another man smirked. "The tournament is demanding more Ability Crystals… it seems the nobles are getting greedy."

A third voice chuckled darkly. "Then we will provide. After all… orphans are plentiful."

Suddenly—

A chill filled the room.

The flickering lanterns dimmed. The shadows along the walls stretched unnaturally. The men paused, sensing a presence.

Then—

A whisper, barely audible.

"Judgment has come."

WHOOSH!

A wave of black flames erupted, swallowing the entire room in darkness. The men barely had time to react before a scythe gleamed in the air, slicing through the first of them in an instant.

The Dark Specter Reaper had arrived.

Screams filled the chamber as the scythe tore through flesh and bone, cutting down the cultists like wheat before a harvester.

One of them, trembling, tried to activate a spell, but the Reaper merely pointed at him.

His mana drained instantly.

His body withered, collapsing to the ground as a lifeless husk.

The remaining few tried to flee, scrambling toward the exit.

But the shadows themselves betrayed them.

The Reaper moved like a ghost, appearing in front of the door, its empty sockets glowing with a haunting blue light.

"No escape."

After killing everyone in the room, the Dark Specter Reaper looked at the lifeless child on the table.

Its hollow eyes glowed faintly as it reached down and plucked the Ability Crystal from the child's chest. The crystal pulsed weakly, tainted by the suffering it was born from.

The Reaper then gathered the other crystals scattered around the area before turning toward a nearby cellar—where the kidnapped children were kept, asleep under a spell.

The walls of the underground chamber were newly built, meant to keep the children hidden. The Reaper wordlessly traced a dark sigil in the air, ensuring their safety before vanishing into the shadows.

Now, it was time to track down whoever was behind this atrocity.
