Chapter 730: Blessed with Long Lifespan
"Ah? Did you slay an evil dragon last week? Isn't that impressive, but what about the dragon race's response to that?" Evelyn covered her mouth in surprise. She previously bragged about her accomplishments, but her brother was not to be outdone either.
"It's just a flood dragon... the dragon race only cares about the trueblood." Billie shrugged.
"But, still... taking down an 8th flood dragon in its domain is an incredible achievement worth bragging about, especially since it was a team of six." Elysia chuckled, feeling proud to listen to her elemental ranger's accomplishment.
"We received your favor and blessing to maintain peace on the mainland. Is there any instruction for us?" Billie put his hand to his chest, bowing respectfully.
"There is no specific mission, but take a look at this list. These are the unresolved matters from our previous visit, and we would like you to check the situation and make sure everything is going according to our expectations. You may invite reinforcements from any faction for this expedition." Elysia handed over a piece of golden paper to Billie.
"..." Billie carefully received the holy paper and read the list. It was written by a Goddess, but she felt a little surprised because it was stamped by the Goddess of Blessings.
"Ely, why did you hand over a mission like this to my brother? Is there a particular reason?" Evelyn whispered close to Elysia's ear.
"No particular reason. They are my elemental rangers, the young heroes. It is time for them to venture outside their comfort domain." Elysia responded with a whisper as well, but when she noticed Evelyn's concern, she added a little. "It's not a dangerous mission. They'll be fine as long as they're careful."
"Mm, I understand your good intention, Ely. The strong heroes won't develop well in the safe zone. They need to venture into the big, wide world to truly become strong." Evelyn nodded in understanding.
Elysia's words reassured her, but she also understood the challenge was what her brother and the other chosen heroes needed. Their mission was not solely to maintain the peace of the Human Continent, but also to enable the whole world. It was the reason why Elysia bestowed upon them the ever-evolving power to follow the user's progress.
Even the strongest human alive in the world, Alexander the Great, Ella's grandfather, would never have achieved his title and past accomplishments without traveling the world, venturing both beauty and danger offered by distant lands and realms.
"We'll surely complete this holy mission without fail." Billie knelt down.
"Mm... No rush, take your time. If there are any powerful beings causing trouble, immediately report the situation to the Sky Library. The other Gods may be a bit unreliable, but those three over there are trustworthy." Elysia turned to the window, gazing at the floating island in the distant sky.
"Understood." Billie nodded in reply.
"Uh, you just came back two days ago, and you already want to leave again? Isn't this still your day off from your hero mission?" Isabelle, the mother of Evelyn and Billie, entered the room with a tray of cookies. She went away for a while to bake the cookies, and her child wanted to leave already...
"Holiday, yeah, my warriors deserve to have a holiday after their services and hard work. Arise. You may proceed after your holiday period, Billie." Elysia put her hand on her chin. She didn't pay her heroes or employ them. They actually could do as they pleased as long as they followed the rules and their duties.
"Understood." Billie returned to his feet.
"Mother, where is father? Doesn't he want to see his cute daughter and the noble Goddess Ely?" Elysia put her hand on Elysia's arm, asking a little curiously. Her father usually would be ultra excited to greet her upon her return, especially to Elysia because they always come together.
"Fufu, he should be rushing here as we speak." Isabelle covered her mouth. She informed her husband just a few minutes ago, and he immediately canceled all of his schedules just to return home early.
"Allow me to brew you some tea, Queen Isabelle." Elysia grabbed the nearby teapot and began to brew the newly cultivated herbal tea.
"If I may ask, please call me mother or mom." Isabelle smiled gently. She and her family might regard Elysia as their Goddess and savior, but now, Elysia was a family member, one inseparable from her daughter.
"Yes, ma'am." Elysia put her words a bit vaguely so it would sound like mom just to make Isabelle feel happy.
Unlike godfathers whom she could call father or grandfather freely, she couldn't casually call them mother even though they were literally half of her family because of her bond with her saintesses. She already had several mommies in her family, and they wouldn't be happy to be compared to non-pantheon members...
A few moments later, Emperor Kevin, the sovereign of the Human Continent's northern region, returned to his palace with great excitement and joy. He brought many gifts, and upon arriving at his home, he immediately welcomed his daughter and the revered Goddess Ely.
Elysia spent a few hours with Evelyn and the Mitchell Family, until finally, she and Evelyn had to inform them about the upcoming war in the otherworld. They came to bid their farewell as it would take a few years before they could visit this world again.
"You are still the Elysia I remember even though you have become a Goddess, Elysia. We understand your noble cause. You don't need to explain anything. Besides, it's only a few years. Our world's inhabitants are blessed with pretty long lifespans, and yeah, a few years is nothing to us." Kevin raised his hand. However, he appreciated that the Goddess his family served came not as a Goddess, but as a part of the family.
"Thank you for your compliment and faith. I will ensure Eve's safety. The battlefield will hone her abilities to breakthrough point, and it will surely benefit her tremendously." Elysia put her hand on Evelyn's head.
"Hehe~" Evelyn chuckled softly, feeling proud. She understood that everyone would participate in the upcoming war as it would be their greatest opportunity and honor to fight alongside countless Gods and Immortals, but she also knew that Elysia would pull them from the war once they reached their utmost limit that would endanger their safety.
"I'm surprised you could handle her so well..." Billie scratched his head, speaking his mind out unconsciously. He recalled that his sister was literally a trouble magnet and also pretty stupid, easy to mess up almost anything unconsciously.
"If I can't handle my people at their worst, I don't deserve them at their best. My saintesses are all good, obedient girls." Elysia hugged Evelyn, feeling that statement was unjustified.
"That's right! You're a bad brother to think badly of your sister." Evelyn hugged Elysia back, pouting at her brother.
"Well, sorry..." Billie held his forehead. He was grateful because his sister had found happiness.
Elysia and Evelyn then bid their last farewell, leaving the Mitchell Family with a poof. Just like Ella's family, Evelyn's family had no worries at all, thanks to their great faith in the Goddesses they served.
Vanessa was the next in turn, but she didn't wish to visit anyone specifically because her White Tiger Clan's inheritance was already in the Nature Realm. Therefore, she invited his aunt and uncle to explore the changes in the Beast Continent together.
"Hehe, this feels like a double date~" Vanessa flapped her wings, carrying her master on her back flying through the sky happily.
"What double date? It's not the 2nd day of the current month. Wait, I'm losing the sense of time." Theo, the brown winged tiger, followed closely behind. He held his head because he was no longer counting the years, especially since he was already used to the Quadtria, no longer Vrelenia.
"Hm, you don't understand anything about romance." Leila pinched her husband back, asking him to be quiet.
"Your human form is unique and beautiful, Leila. I'm glad you don't condemn your human-like transformation." Elysia complimented Leila's current appearance.
Leila was a winged light brown tiger but with a human-like transformation. Although the beast characteristics were more dominant, it was at least not like Theo or the other beast race's transformations which looked just like their original beast features but stood on two legs and had human-like hands.
"Ohoho~ I am flattered, but I am not worthy of such praise." Leila pretended to be humble, but she was happy inside.
The three of them then chatted happily in the sky, filling their journey to the Tiger Paw Forest with chit-chat and laughter.
"The girls and their chit-chat... why do men need to be quiet when they start chirping?" Theo complained under his breath, talking to himself. One woman was noisy, and many women were very noisy, but well, he was used to it.
Tiger Paw Forest was the former homeland of the Winged Tiger Clan before they were split into two after Vanessa's father got killed by the Fire Lion Clan. However, the clan got split again, leaving no tigers living in this vast forest that at first glance looked like a tiger footprint from the sky.
"The environment and terrain have changed a lot. Our home here is no more. It's become so quiet and lonely here." Leila murmured as she looked in reminiscent of the place where her former cave house was located.
"Who dares to intrude into the Iron Bear Clan's territory?!" A loud roar came from the cave at the foot of the hill.
Many metal-colored big bears, covered in iron armor and sharp spikes soon surrounded the vicinity.
"You ask who we are? We're your predecessors." Vanessa looked back with the fiery gaze of an apex predator. Her killing intent sent shiver and intimidation to those iron bears, burying all their arrogance with fear.
"!!!" The iron bears were shocked, trembling in fear. Three huge winged tigers came out of nowhere, and their aura was so oppressive, almost making them faint.
