My Hero Academia: Thunder God

Chapter 227: Chapter 226: Confused and Attacked Again

After leaving Dr. Tenma's place, Kaminari first walked Kyoka home and then boarded the Shinkansen back to Saitama City by himself.

The journey home was uneventful, and soon he found himself walking along the colorful highway, illuminated by the glow of the city's neon lights. As he strolled, his mind drifted, his thoughts wandering in the quiet of the late hour.

The city itself was peaceful, apart from the steady stream of traffic that felt like an endless river of light. With the serene atmosphere enveloping him, Kaminari began to reflect on everything that had happened recently from his achievements to the plans he had for the future.

For the first time, he realized how compact his life had become. Despite not having any immediate or pressing goals, he was constantly busy, either working hard or thinking about what steps to take next.

But why?

He didn't need to push himself so much. This world, despite its share of villains, was relatively peaceful. Compared to other worlds like Naruto or One Piece, where danger and battle were constant, this world wasn't nearly as chaotic.

Here, he didn't have to fight to the death every few days. Instead, he could afford to focus on hobbies like music, animation, and games. His life resembled that of an urban novel protagonist reborn into a parallel world more than a battle-hardened hero in a high-stakes universe.

The thought struck him: Did he even need to continue getting stronger? He had no overwhelming blood feud to resolve, no apocalyptic threat looming over the horizon. His current strength, combined with Pikachu's abilities, was already enough to defeat several top-tier Heroes if necessary.

Within Japan, there didn't seem to be anyone who could rival his lightning-based Quirk. If his goal had been to become the strongest lightning-user, wasn't that already achieved?

Of course, someone more competitive might set their sights on surpassing All Might himself. But Kaminari wasn't like that. He didn't have any desire to become the number one hero in the world.

His current life was fulfilling enough. He was strong enough to protect his family and had successfully improved their financial situation while pursuing his own creative passions.

He could sing, and hundreds of thousands of fans would listen. His contributions to Pokémon were adored by millions. And today, he'd even realized that a girl liked him.

What more did he need?

So why was he still striving to get stronger? What purpose did it serve in a peaceful world like this?

Just as these thoughts swirled in his mind, Kaminari realized something was off. He had been walking for over thirty minutes, but the journey from the station to his house usually took less than twenty.

*"Booom!"*

A sudden noise shattered the tranquility, followed by the sound of sharp objects cutting through the air. In an instant, a flurry of glowing white feathers, glinting like silver under the moonlight, shot toward him.

"Damn it!"

Behind Kaminari, a white-haired man with large, angelic wings glared at him with a twisted expression. His sharp features were contorted in rage as he launched another volley of feathers.

"It looks like Phantom managed to use his Quirk!" shouted a bald, dark-skinned man standing nearby.

"Obviously, or how else would we have lured him here?" the bald man retorted irritably.

Looking around, Kaminari realized he had somehow wandered into a dimly lit alley between two buildings. Six or seven individuals surrounded him, each with a unique and menacing appearance.

They attacked relentlessly, but no matter what they threw at him—whether feathers, claws, or energy blasts—all of it was blocked by the shimmering golden sand that shielded him. Occasionally, Pikachu retaliated, its electric shocks forcing those who relied on close combat to retreat.

"Pikachu!"

Another burst of electricity surged forward, striking a crocodile-headed man in the chest. He screamed in pain before collapsing to the ground.

"Pika, pika!" Pikachu called out, its worried gaze shifting to Kaminari, who stood frozen, his face blank and his eyes unfocused.

Pikachu suddenly remembered Kaminari's countermeasure for mental Quirks. Kaminari had once explained that using high-speed electricity to stimulate his body could sometimes break mental control.

Although Kaminari couldn't activate his high-speed movement or high-voltage shock on his own right now, Pikachu could help.

"Pika… chu!"

With no hesitation, Pikachu turned around and unleashed *100,000 Volts* directly at Kaminari. The intense current engulfed him, causing his blond hair to stand on end and lighting up the dark alley like a golden beacon.

"What the hell? Why is that rat attacking its own master?" the winged man shouted in confusion.

"No idea," muttered a man with yellow skin and nails that had turned into sharp diamonds.

However, Phantom, the bald man, suddenly shouted in panic, "No! That kid's waking up!"

"What?!"

As the others turned to look, Kaminari's eyes slowly opened. For a moment, confusion flashed across his face. "Wasn't I just walking home?"

"Master, you're awake!" Pikachu cried, its tone filled with relief. Dropping its usual cute act, it quickly explained the situation in human language.

Kaminari took a moment to process the details before glancing around at the attackers, who had temporarily stopped their assault. His gaze settled on the winged man, who appeared to be the leader.

"In that case… none of you are leaving here tonight."

"Godspeed—activate!"

Golden electricity surged from Kaminari's body, crackling violently. He didn't move immediately but kept the current flowing, ensuring he couldn't fall under mental control again.

*"Bang! Bang! Bang!"*

Kaminari reached for the four remaining golden Pokéballs at his waist and hurled them into the air. Instantly, waves of golden sand poured out, filling the alley and rushing toward the attackers like a tidal wave.

"What do we do?!" Phantom yelled, his face pale.

"Don't panic! He's just a kid. There's no way we can't beat him with our combined strength!" the winged man growled.

"Attack! Take him down!"

Following his command, the group launched their Quirks at the incoming wave of golden sand. The battle quickly became chaotic as sand and attacks collided in a fierce exchange.

But amidst the chaos, the winged man silently grabbed Phantom by the back of his collar and flew into the sky at high speed.

"Coward…" Kaminari muttered, noticing their escape. His expression hardened as he activated *High-Voltage Mode*, transforming into a streak of golden lightning that shot into the air. Within moments, he was directly in front of the fleeing duo.

"I said… none of you are leaving tonight!"

From below, two massive streams of golden sand followed Kaminari's lead, rising into the air like twin pillars. He didn't need to defeat them outright; he only needed to stall them until the golden sand caught up.

"Then try me!"

The winged man roared, flapping his wings and launching another volley of razor-sharp feathers.

*"Swish, swish, swish!"*

Kaminari effortlessly dodged the barrage, weaving through the air with ease. He had no intention of attacking directly, his goal was purely to delay them.

Still, the constant assaults began to irritate him. If not for Pikachu's quick thinking earlier, he might have been taken out before the fight even began.

He clenched his fists, suppressing the urge to retaliate recklessly. No matter how much he wanted to make them pay, he reminded himself to hold back.

At the same time, in the distance, several police cars raced toward the scene, carrying professional Heroes. Thanks to Pikachu's quick actions, help was already on the way.
