Chapter 573: The Consciousness of the World Tree Spirit - Part 2
"Guess who I am?"
Leon's body tensed at the sound of the voice. But as the sweet, floral scent of gardenias reached his nose, his muscles slowly relaxed.
"Who are you?" he asked cautiously, brushing aside the hands that had covered his eyes.
He turned—and was met with the sight of a woman smiling at him. She was breathtakingly beautiful.
Her face was perfectly sculpted, with a defined, elegant jawline.
Her green eyes, slightly slanted at the corners, gave a sharp and cold impression, yet her gaze held an unmistakable gentleness.
Long, wavy green hair cascaded down her back, accented by a flower-shaped ribbon on the right side of her head.
A flowing silk dress of the same verdant hue clung to her figure, clearly outlining her voluptuous curves—full breasts and sensuous hips that could easily stir desire in any man.
A moon-shaped necklace rested at her collarbone, and blue crystal bracelets encircled both wrists.
She wore no shoes, revealing smooth, pale legs with a subtle rosy tint—a sight that was both elegant and alluring.
As Leon studied her carefully, his expression grew still—not because of her beauty, but because her face reminded him of someone else.
Liliana.
Yes, it was Liliana. From the eyes to the shape of her face, the resemblance was striking.
The only notable differences were the hair and eye color, her slightly shorter stature, and the more serene aura she carried.
Other than that, they were nearly identical. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say she looked 99% the same.
If not for his finely tuned senses, Leon might have mistaken her for the very woman he loved.
The woman let out a soft chuckle at his reaction and stepped forward, closing the distance between them until their faces were just an inch apart.
"Are you surprised? That's so cute," she said in a playful tone, gently and lovingly rubbing Leon's face.
Her sweet, melodious voice—like a bird's cheerful chirping—made anyone who heard it feel at ease.
Leon felt the warmth of her touch, but he quickly pulled back, maintaining a vigilant posture that never wavered.
"Tell me, who are you?" he asked, his narrowed eyes fixed on her. His right hand was clenched tightly, ready to act if she tried anything.
The woman let out a quiet sigh, clearly showing her annoyance without bothering to hide it.
"Why are you so wary of me? Do you think I'm going to eat you?" She asked with a disgruntled tone.
The corner of Leon's mouth twitched slightly. His reaction, though, wasn't unreasonable. The woman was undeniably suspicious.
After all, she had brought him here secretly—to a strange, unfamiliar place.
Leon could tell this was a special dimension, similar to the ones Miranda and the Dragon Progenitor had used.
He took a deep breath and steadied himself, his gaze returning to the woman's face—so strikingly similar to Liliana's.
"Alright, I apologize. But... can you tell me who you really are?"
This time, his voice was much calmer, even gentle.
Now that he thought about it, he couldn't sense any hostility from her.
If she meant harm, his hero instinct would've warned him right away.
Noticing that Leon had begun to lower his guard, the woman smiled again.
She gave him an appreciative look, eyeing him from head to toe.
"Well, you are indeed handsome and strong. No wonder you deserve the title of the Fated One," she said sincerely. "If my husband saw you now, he would be very pleased—just like I am."
That last sentence caught Leon off guard.
"Your husband? You mean..".
Before he could finish his question, the woman chuckled softly and interrupted.
"Yes, he is the First Demon Emperor, Amon Crimson."
*Badump!*
Leon's heart skipped a beat. His eyes widened in shock and fear.
"You... Are you the Spirit of the World Tree?" he asked in disbelief.
"That's right." The woman nodded slowly, still smiling as she held the hem of her dress together and bowed gracefully to Leon.
"I, Astra, Spirit of the World Tree, greet and salute the Fated One."
Where she had been flirtatious, gentle, and affectionate before, she was now respectful and serious.
Leon took a moment to process everything before finally letting out a deep breath.
He stared at her with a mix of awe, confusion, and disbelief. He had never imagined that this woman was the Spirit of the World Tree.
In fact, he had expected to meet her later, but this encounter came much sooner than he had anticipated.
After composing himself, Leon smiled gently and said, "Please forgive my impoliteness, Spirit of the World Tree. I hope I haven't offended you."
Astra raised her head, her gaze turning mischievous. "Fated One, my name is Astra. Just call me by my name."
"Call you directly? Doesn't that sound a bit impolite?" Leon asked, looking uncertain.
Astra smiled slyly and stepped closer. She gently cupped his face with both hands.
"Impolite? If anything, it brings us closer, doesn't it?" She said, her tone layered with meaning.
"You..." Leon was stunned, his face flushing slightly with a shame he couldn't quite hide.
All this time, he had imagined the Spirit of the World Tree as elegant and serene.
But the reality was far different—this woman was bold, seductive, and full of surprises.
If he were some innocent man, he might have already been flustered by her advances. But he was Leon Kruger—a man seasoned by experience and shaped by the women in his life.
"Ahem!" Leon cleared his throat softly. He placed both hands on Astra's shoulders and gently pushed her back. "World Tree Spirit—uh, I mean, Astra. Please don't get too close. It makes me a bit uncomfortable."
She was, after all, the wife of the Demon Emperor Amon Crimson.
Even if that man had died seven thousand years ago, Leon couldn't help feeling uneasy.
More than that, Astra was Liliana's ancestor—and the resemblance between them was uncanny.
Entertaining any improper thoughts about her felt almost sinful.
Noticing Leon's polite yet firm response, Astra's expression briefly showed a flicker of annoyance. But before she could reply, cracks suddenly began to spread across the dimension.
"What's happening? Is the dimension collapsing?" Leon asked in surprise.
"Yeah, time's up," Astra replied with a touch of regret.
"Time's up? What do you mean?" Leon looked at her, confused.
Astra didn't answer right away. Instead, she took out a blue, pentagon-shaped stone and placed it in his hand.
"Fated One, take this with you. What you're seeing now isn't my true self—just a fragment of my consciousness. Give this token to the Elf Queen. She'll lead you to the place where my real body rests," she said in a serious tone.
Leon took the stone and was about to speak, but an invisible force suddenly pulled at his body. In an instant, he vanished from sight.
As he disappeared, Astra smiled faintly and let out a soft chuckle.
"The Fated One... truly an interesting man. No wonder Amon placed such high hopes on him."
