Chapter 336: Chapter 335: Jiang Hai is hard to understand
"Jiang Hai, is this your car?" Sitting in Jiang Hai's Rolls-Royce, Feng Yunchen continued to look around, clearly intrigued. This was her first time sitting in such a luxurious car. Back in China, the man behind her only drove an entry-level luxury car, a Bentley Flying Spur, which she had always considered top-of-the-line. But compared to Jiang Hai's Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended, it was definitely a level below. What stood out the most was that Jiang Hai's car was the top configuration.
Sitting on the pure handmade calfskin seat, the experience felt truly different.
Though she wasn't as obsessed with cars as many men, Feng Yunchen knew that in China, this car would cost around 7 to 8 million yuan.
"Yes, you're the first to ride in this car," Jiang Hai replied with a smile. "I originally bought three pickup trucks—one Ford F650 and two F750s—but after meeting some friends who go hunting in the mountains, I learned that different cars serve different purposes. Sedans are for picking people up, off-road vehicles are for adventures, and MPVs are for family trips. No matter how good a pickup truck is, it's still just a pickup truck. So, I ended up buying other types of cars after they explained this."
Feng Yunchen couldn't help but laugh at Jiang Hai's words. "Really? Do you have other cars in your collection?"
"Yes, there's also a Ford E350, a business car for carrying many people, and a Berlech War Shield, an off-road vehicle that can also fit a lot of people." Jiang Hai responded nonchalantly.
"A sports car?" Ai Xiaoxi, who had been sitting next to Feng Yunchen, interrupted eagerly.
Compared to Feng Yunchen, Ai Xiaoxi knew even less about cars. To her, nothing could beat the thrill of a sports car.
"Uh, no," Jiang Hai replied, a little embarrassed. He really didn't own a sports car.
Ai Xiaoxi couldn't help but smile at his discomfort. "Oh..."
Feng Yunchen teased, "You silly girl, this car is far more expensive than most sports cars. You could even shoot a movie inside it! Jiang Hai, don't you have a problem with that?"
"It's fine," Jiang Hai replied with a smile, not caring much about the conversation.
They say a car is a man's lover, but for Jiang Hai, that didn't really apply. In China, he could borrow a car from anyone he was on good terms with. Truth be told, he didn't care much about his cars, except for his War Shield.
"We live in Winthrop, which is more of a country town. The roads aren't great, so even if we had a sports car, it wouldn't be useful. We'd have to raise the suspension, but doing that is dangerous—if you're not careful, the car could flip. So, it's pointless for me to own one," Jiang Hai explained after Feng Yunchen asked.
Ai Xiaoxi stuck her tongue out in response.
"Okay, get your phones ready. We're at the Statue of Liberty," Jiang Hai suddenly announced.
Both Feng Yunchen and Ai Xiaoxi quickly grabbed their phones and looked outside, each hoping to capture a good photo.
As Jiang Hai had said, New York didn't offer much in terms of tourist attractions. If you came for shopping, the city was a paradise with cheap and diverse goods. But for sightseeing? Not so much.
The Statue of Liberty, for instance, was iconic, but there was only so much to see. Ground Zero, where the 9/11 attacks occurred, was a painful and significant site for Americans, but for someone like Jiang Hai, it was just a historic location—nothing particularly striking about the ruins. Broadway was home to operas, but how many people actually understood them? Wall Street was a financial center, but again, who could truly comprehend it? Central Park was just a park, and the United Nations headquarters, just a building. The Empire State Building, though famous, was not the tallest anymore. Grand Central Station was only interesting if you were into basketball, and Times Square, outside of New Year's Eve, didn't really offer much either.
The only thing that could interest them was the art museum, but neither Feng Yunchen nor Ai Xiaoxi were particularly keen on art.
After taking some photos, the three of them continued their shopping around New York City.
For Feng Yunchen and Ai Xiaoxi, the ideal place to shop was Fifth Avenue, the luxury shopping street. However, they weren't shopping today. Fortunately, they'd be flying out of New York soon and could shop then. Jiang Hai didn't mind. After a quick tour of the city, they left around two o'clock in the afternoon and drove towards Boston.
After more than ten hours on a plane, it was impossible not to feel tired. While the car was frequently stopping in New York, providing some distractions, the girls couldn't keep their eyes open. Less than ten minutes after leaving the city, both Feng Yunchen and Ai Xiaoxi were leaning against the car windows, too tired to care about the passing scenery.
Noticing this, Jiang Hai took the initiative to close the windows and turn on the air conditioning.
The temperature was quite comfortable, similar to May in the northern hemisphere—not too hot or cold. In normal circumstances, the windows could have stayed open. But Jiang Hai turned on the air conditioner to ensure the girls were comfortable.
It wasn't until they reached a rest stop near Boston that Jiang Hai woke them up. After a quick rest and bathroom break, the three of them set off again, heading towards Jiang Hai's Winthrop estate.
"We're here!" Jiang Hai announced as the car neared the destination.
Despite their fatigue from the long journey, both girls sat up straighter in their seats. When they looked out at the scene before them, their tiredness momentarily vanished. Though the sun had not yet set, it had begun to dip in the sky, casting the horizon in fiery hues.
The clouds, like flames, stretched across the sky. Beneath them, an endless expanse of grassland stretched to the horizon, where the faint outline of the sea could be seen. It was a breathtaking view, made even more spectacular by the large number of cattle making their way to the cowshed. It was a sight that struck them both deeply.
"How beautiful," Ai Xiaoxi murmured, her voice filled with awe. At that moment, her image of a humble cowherd was shattered. It seemed that Feng Yunchen had been right—Jiang Hai was very, very wealthy.
Jiang Hai smiled at her words, then entered the security code at the gate. The car passed through, heading to the villa. As the car stopped in the parking lot, Feng Yunchen and Ai Xiaoxi were even more surprised.
The cars in front of them were all Jiang Hai's, and while the War Shield wasn't the largest among them, it was the most striking. Its rugged, military look was hard to ignore.
Alongside it were the three massive pickup trucks Jiang Hai had mentioned. Although the girls didn't know much about these cars, they recognized them as top-tier vehicles.
Beyond the cars, the grand villa that greeted them left both girls even more stunned. Feng Yunchen, who knew Jiang Hai raised cattle in the U.S. and had some money, was now beginning to realize just how wealthy he truly was.
"Too... amazing," Ai Xiaoxi whispered, struggling to find words for the overwhelming sight before her.
"Feel free to visit whenever you want," Jiang Hai said, clearly satisfied by their astonished expressions. "It's getting late, and you must be hungry. Let's get you to your rooms, have dinner, and you can rest up."
His words brought the two girls back to reality. Although still processing what they'd seen, they followed him inside, only to be met by Xiao Huang, Xiao Bai, Jiu Jiu, and Ban Ya, who rushed out to greet Jiang Hai. They rubbed against him eagerly, sensing his arrival.
"These aren't for you, move out of the way," Jiang Hai said with a smile, nudging the little animals aside as he carried their luggage into the house.
As the girls entered the villa, they were taken aback by the sight of the animals. They were still reeling from what they had just witnessed.
