Chapter 268: The ride
"Can you lend me some money?" Robert spoke, his voice tinged with shame and reluctance; it appeared as if he couldn't meet Lucian's gaze.
"Uncle, we are a family—you don't have to be nervous for such a small thing. How can I let someone hurt my aunt? I will send you the money shortly; take it all, and if it's not enough, just tell me without any hesitation." Lucian smiled kindly, tapping his uncle's shoulder.
"Sob, Lucian, you are like my son. Although I don't wish to take away your money, we are really in big trouble—especially your aunt, since the loan is in her name. I will repay your money as soon as possible." Robert's voice was crackling, sadness flowing out of him; he even shed a few tears, showing the weight he had been carrying all alone.
"Oh, uncle, this money is yours too—you don't have to pay it back. I have earned quite a lot, so I don't think we have to worry about that. Just tell me if you need more; I don't want anything to happen to you or, especially, auntie." Lucian replied, his tone dripping with familial love; his acting was much better compared to Robert's.
"Thank you, Lucian, I really thought we were done this time; thankfully, God sent you to us." Robert buried his face in his hands and began to shake his shoulder as if he were crying, while a big twisting smile appeared on his face.
Lucian patted his shoulder once more and then began to walk toward the door. He didn't want to mingle with his cousin and his slutty girlfriend for now. As he walked out of the door, he took out his mobile and began to speak:
"Echo, make him believe I sent the money, and then take everything away from him in whatever way possible—whether it be his money, property, or anything. He shouldn't be left with a penny. And let's turn his lies into truth: take a large loan in his name; the amount should be so big that his name should be in the headlines for taking that much money."
(Alright, I will do all that by the end of the day. Robert will be left with nothing but an extremely large debt.)
Lucian nodded in satisfaction as he put the mobile away and walked toward his car. He first decided to go to his school for a small wild ride before heading to meet the family of his first uncle; now he decided to quickly be done with his revenge.
As he started the car and began to drive away, Melina walked toward the car and stood in front of Lucian's window. Then she bent slightly, unconsciously pushing her breasts forward, and spoke: "Are you going to school? Can I come with you?"
Lucian pondered for a moment and then nodded: "Yeah, I am going to school; sure, you can come along. I just have a small task there, then I plan to go somewhere else. You are free, right?"
"Yes, I don't really have much to do, and I would love a ride with you." Melina spoke joyfully as she walked to the other side and instantly made herself comfortable on the other seat, ready for the adventure she had no idea about.
Soon the ride began. Melina kept glancing at him; she wanted to talk about so many things—even wondering if she should ask about his illness—but she didn't want him to stop the nightly activity, so she decided to talk about something else.
"You were performing in a drama, right? When is that drama of yours? I heard it is quite famous."
"Oh, I almost forgot about that; it should be tomorrow, I think." Lucian spoke—in his haste he had almost forgotten about that; after checking his phone, he saw many messages and confirmed that the drama was really the next day.
"You forgot? But we talked about it not long ago." Melina said, though she seemed to be forgetting her original motive of getting his money.
"…" Lucian just shrugged his shoulders; for her only a day or two had passed, but for him quite a lot had happened. Then he sped his car toward the school.
After a small ride, he stopped the car some distance away from the school's gate, as if waiting for someone—quite a lot of children were rushing into the school.
"Are you waiting for someone here?" Melina asked, a smile on her face. She always seemed to be expecting something from him, similar to that surprising kiss he had given her on her lips.
"Yeah, they will be here soon." Lucian spoke and looked around; not long after, he finally saw the ones he was waiting for.
It was Mason, Baldie, and a couple of their friends. Although Lucian had already taken their money and had made them suffer quite a bit in their previous life, he decided to end the revenge for this life with a bang.
He started the car and increased speed without releasing the brake. Melina was startled, but she stayed quiet, wondering what he was planning to do. Just as Mason and his group had arrived near the gate, talking in a depressed tone, Lucian's car shot forward.
Melina screamed while holding the seat belt tightly; the speed of the car was too much. Mason and the others didn't even have the time to see as something struck them and tossed three or four of them in different directions. Lucian didn't stop to look back as he continued to drive.
None of the cameras captured him because of Echo, and all the students and passersby were too shocked to register anything—let alone check the number of the car. Crying and wails of a few victims rang out as they lay on the road, bruised and battered.
"L—Lucian, I think we just hit someone." Melina spoke with fear in her voice. She looked back and barely saw three or four students lying around before the car moved far away.
"It's fine, auntie; they should be fine, and it was an accident. If we stay, both of us will have to go to jail. Don't worry, all will be fine." Lucian reassured her. Melina nodded, but she couldn't calm her racing heart; she had never experienced anything like that.
"A—At least none of them seem to be dead. Should we at least pay for their medical bills? They seemed to be hurt quite badly." Melina spoke, her hands shaking.
Lucian held her hand, looking into her eyes while finally slowing the car down as he spoke: "Oh, auntie, you worry for nothing. Even if anyone finds out it's me, they can't do anything; I have enough power to even make them disappear without a trace. They owe me quite a bit, so it'll be fine. Money isn't the only thing I have; I just love repaying people a thousand fold."
Melina nodded mechanically. She felt that Lucian might not be as naïve as her husband believed; they might be playing with fire. She even wondered if he had any ulterior motive in approaching them, but she kept all these thoughts to herself, feeling quite intimidated by him.
"Don't be afraid, auntie; I care about you." Lucian's smile widened as he spoke.
