My Pokemon Turned into Girls?!

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Team Rocket

The largest shipyard in Vermilion City was said to be the birthplace of the once-famous S.S. Anne. Unfortunately, not long ago, the renowned luxury cruise ship had met with an accident and sank into the sea. Thankfully, all the passengers managed to escape safely.

With the proposal for the S.S. Anne II project, the shipyard had recently become busier. A large number of heavy containers were neatly stacked, presumably filled with various components needed for the new cruise ship.

"But it's so late. Are they still working?" Kazuki peeked out from behind a wall, watching the workers coming and going, carrying things. Something felt off to him.

He had followed Magnemite here after it suddenly ran off, mainly worried that it might damage something like it had at the Vermilion Gym earlier. However, after spotting several hidden surveillance points, Kazuki immediately sensed a whiff of conspiracy.

"Sabrina, can your telepathy pick up what they're saying from this far?"

The biggest reason they had managed to infiltrate this deeply was thanks to Sabrina. If it weren't for her psychic abilities detecting the hidden sentries, they would have been discovered and driven away long ago.

However, while psychic powers were useful, they weren't omnipotent. Sabrina shook her head, indicating that to hear their conversations, they would need to send a Pokémon that was less likely to be noticed to get closer and then use telepathy to eavesdrop.

A Pokémon with strong stealth capabilities… Neither Kazuki nor Sabrina had one. Magnemite's size might work, but given its intelligence, Kazuki wasn't confident in relying on it.

After thinking for a moment, Kazuki asked, "What about creating an illusion based on our current bodies? Just a slight change in appearance would be enough."

"That… shouldn't be a problem."

At one of the hidden surveillance points, a man and woman dressed as workers were whispering to each other, occasionally glancing around to check for any unusual activity.

"I'm telling you, is it really necessary to be this cautious? Those guys from Hoenn are way too paranoid. We in Team Rocket have done this kind of thing plenty of times, and the League hasn't been able to do squat!"

The man's words didn't earn his companion's agreement. The middle-aged woman's sharp voice retorted, "Don't spout nonsense! This is a direct order from the Boss himself. Someone important has even been sent to oversee this. If you want to die, that's your business… but don't drag me down with you!"

"It's not like anyone's around…" the man grumbled, but when he turned around, his companion was no longer there.

"Where'd she go in just a few sentences?" Puzzled, he looked around and accidentally stepped on something soft.

Bending down, he picked up the object and showed a strange expression. "A doll? What the…"

Before he could finish his sentence, green light enveloped him. The next moment, two dolls fell to the ground without making a sound.

From an extremely tricky blind spot, Kazuki and Sabrina emerged from the shadows. Kazuki picked up the two dolls and examined the details on them closely.

This "R" symbol… So it's Team Rocket?

Team Rocket, the largest criminal organization in the Kanto region, had an uncountable number of members. Their influence spanned industries, commerce, services, and more. They even had spies within the League itself.

Learning that Team Rocket was behind this operation made Kazuki's heart sink. While Pokémon poachers were brutal, they usually operated alone. Team Rocket, on the other hand, was a coalition of dangerous criminals, making them far more dangerous.

"Sabrina, maybe you shouldn't participate in the next part of this."

While Sabrina's raw power surpassed his, and her psychic abilities were incredibly useful, she had never been in a situation where a single misstep could mean life or death. In a way, she was still an inexperienced girl.

Of course, there was also the option of leaving before they were discovered. But after receiving the honorary investigator badge and a precious Mega Stone from Champion Steven, Kazuki couldn't just turn a blind eye to the crime happening right in front of him.

But… "Kazuki, are you going to abandon me?"

Sabrina looked up, her eyes meeting Kazuki's seriously, cutting off all his escape routes.

"I understand." Kazuki reached out and brushed a strand of hair from Sabrina's forehead, his hand gently sliding down her cheek.

If that was the case, then they would face this together. If things went south, they could always use Sabrina's teleportation to escape. After all, as an honorary investigator, Kazuki didn't need to risk his life.

"You two over there, what are you standing around for? Don't you want to work? Hurry up and help move these things!"

Just as Kazuki and Sabrina, now in disguise, stepped out from the corner, they were met with a thunderous shout.

A tall man dressed like a foreman strode toward them, his eyes blazing with anger above his white mask:

"You two, what are your numbers? Do you even know what we're transporting today? Huh? Answer me!"

Holding Sabrina's hand tightly to keep her from acting rashly, Kazuki quickly lowered his voice and replied with a feigned look of panic:

"R-report, sir… We're numbers 114 and 514. W-we're really sorry! We just really needed to…"

Thankfully, they had carefully checked their disguises beforehand and memorized the numbers hidden in the corners of their clothes. Otherwise, they would have been exposed before gathering any information.

Sabrina's illusion was perfect. Even up close, there were no flaws. The only downside was that their heights didn't match the original owners of the uniforms, which could be a problem if they had to interact physically with others.

"You needed to do that as a pair? Whatever… I'll let it slide this time. But if I catch you slacking off again, it won't be so easy, got it?"

With that, the man grabbed a heavy metal crate and shoved it into Kazuki's arms.

Instinctively, Kazuki reached out and caught the crate with ease. Seeing how effortlessly he handled it, the man's eyes showed a hint of surprise as he scrutinized Kazuki's current "body."

Just as Kazuki began to worry that they'd been exposed, the man barked again, "Skinny but strong, huh? Looks like you've got too much energy… Get back to work!"

Without another word, the man turned and walked away. Watching his burly figure retreat, Kazuki noticed a flash of bright yellow under the helmet and frowned slightly.

Turning back, Kazuki pretended to focus on moving the crate while asking Sabrina through their telepathic link, "Sabrina, did that man's voice sound familiar to you?"

"Mm… the annoying uncle from this afternoon."

Annoying uncle? Kazuki's mind flashed to the image of a tall, muscular man with spiky yellow hair. Come to think of it, the way the man had shouted at them earlier was also strange.

"You mean… Lt. Surge?"

Getting confirmation from Sabrina through their telepathic link, Kazuki fell into deep thought. Why was the Vermilion Gym Leader here, acting like some kind of supervisor? Was he working with Team Rocket? Or…

Inside the shipyard, a group of people dressed in black uniforms with red "R" insignias on their chests had gathered. The murderous aura they unconsciously exuded made it clear that they were all hardened criminals.

Yet, their leader was a young man with a delicate face and blue hair peeking out from his cheeks. He sat cross-legged at the front, calm and composed, until a figure in a white lab coat appeared at the entrance.

"Our guest from the Hoenn region, please allow me to extend a warm welcome on behalf of Team Rocket's Boss."

The blue-haired young man stood up gracefully, a friendly smile on his face as he extended his hand to the long-awaited guest.

"Team Rocket is too kind. The Evolution Association has always been a loyal ally of your organization. We're like family, so there's no need for such a warm reception. We're the ones who should apologize for being delayed by some troublesome procedures."

The bespectacled researcher enthusiastically shook the young man's hand and continued, "You must be Mr. Raviel of Team Rocket. I've heard so much about you."

"Not at all. I've also heard of Professor Shiratani's reputation. It's an honor to meet you today."

After exchanging a few pleasantries, several "workers" carried in a massive object covered with a gray cloth and placed it beside Professor Shiratani.

Seeing that everything he needed had arrived, Professor Shiratani adjusted his glasses and smiled. "I'm sure everyone has their own busy schedules, so I won't waste any more time. Let's begin today's transaction."

"Professor Shiratani's words are exactly what I was thinking." Raviel snapped his fingers, and the Team Rocket members behind him immediately cleared a wide space, revealing a mountain of metal containers.

"As agreed, Team Rocket has scoured the entire Kanto region to provide the Evolution Association with the experimental materials you requested. While some are still being moved, given Professor Shiratani's cooperation, it shouldn't take too long… Though I must ask, with the League cracking down so hard, how do you plan to transport all this?"

"No need to worry about that, Mr. Raviel. We've made preparations." With a hearty laugh, Professor Shiratani gestured, and the workers pulled off the gray cloth, revealing… a towering metallic device gleaming under the light.
