Chapter 25: Chapter 25: The Heart of Darkness
The journey to the heart of the Eclipse Dragon's power was unlike anything we'd experienced before. The landscape shifted and twisted around us, the ground cracking and reforming as if the world itself was unraveling. The sky above was a chaotic blend of light and darkness, the two forces clashing in a never-ending battle.
"This place is… wrong," I muttered, my voice barely audible over the howling wind. "It's like the world is falling apart."
Skully, perched on my shoulder, nodded. *"It's the Dragon's power. It's disrupting the balance of everything. Even the air feels… heavy."*
I glanced at him, noticing the faint red glow of his rune. "Skully, are you sure you're okay? Your rune's been acting weird ever since we got the Prism."
He hesitated, his eye sockets narrowing. *"I'm fine, Master. Just… focused. We've got a job to do."*
I wanted to press further, but the ground beneath us began to shake, cutting off any chance of conversation. From the cracks in the earth emerged shadowy figures, their forms shifting and twisting like smoke. They were the Dragon's minions, drawn to the Prism's energy.
"Skully, we need to move!" I shouted, casting a barrier spell to hold them back.
*"On it, Master!"* Skully replied, his rune glowing brighter as he leaped into action.
We fought our way through the minions, their numbers seemingly endless. Skully's agility and my spells kept them at bay, but the strain was starting to show. My mana was running low, and Skully's rune was flickering more erratically than ever.
Finally, we reached the heart of the Eclipse Dragon's power—a massive, swirling vortex of light and darkness. At its center was the Dragon itself, its form towering over us, its glowing eyes filled with malice.
"This is it," I said, my voice trembling. "We need to activate the Prism."
Skully nodded, his rune pulsing with determination. *"Let's do this, Master. Together."*
