My Young Husband, The Assasin

Chapter 12: Can you feel it?

After marrying Renji in her village, Aira was immediately taken to Renji's apartment, not the Ishikawa mansion where Renji, as the future head of the clan, should have been living.

From that moment on, Aira had to get used to her new home with Renji, her life partner, her husband, and the father of the baby she was carrying.

Like it or not.

At first, it felt strange for Aira to consider and respect the raven-haired young man as her husband, especially since he was eight years younger than her.

However, Renji is very responsible. He proved this by marrying Aira, not asking her to abort the pregnancy, and not running away from his responsibilities, a quality that not all adult men possess.

Moreover, Renji was financially stable, despite being in his teens, because he had been involved in business since junior high, taking over his late father's company, thanks to the guidance of Kaito Ishikawa, Renji's grandfather, in business and other areas.

On the outside, Renji might seem cold, strict, indifferent, stoic, harsh, and emotionless toward his opponents or rivals. However, deep down, Renji is soft-hearted, spoiled, childish, and jealous, but only shows these sides to Aira.

After more than two weeks of marriage and living together, they moved to a bigger apartment with three bedrooms today. Renji said their old apartment was too small, especially since they would soon have a baby, maybe even more than one. Renji planned to have many children to make the house feel lively with the sounds of their cheerful chatter. That's why he bought a new apartment not far from Asahi Café.

Because of the move, Aira had to tidy up the belongings and arrange the furniture, which she felt was a bit off, following her preferences. Although Renji had already hired a famous interior designer to decorate their new home, it didn't match Aira's tastes, which leaned more toward traditional Japanese style, while Renji preferred classic European style.

The newlywed couple's plan for today was to clean up the house. Aira had to rearrange the things in the room to match her preferences, while Renji didn't mind as long as she was happy.

Before they knew it, the sun had set, signalling the change from day to night as they finished tidying up.

Aira lay down on the fluffy carpet, stretching her arms to the side to relax after a day of tidying up the house with Renji. Luckily, today was Sunday, so it didn't interfere with Renji's school activities.

Aira's stomach growled loudly, making Renji smile behind her. Renji turned to face Aira. "It seems like our little one is hungry." He gently stroked Aira's now slightly bulging belly.

"How about we eat out?" he suggested, knowing that Aira must be tired after tidying their new house.

"Good idea, but I don't want to eat at a fancy restaurant or something like that."

"So, what would my beautiful princess like to eat?" Renji looked at his wife's face.

"Ramen, and I want to eat two jumbo portions," Aira said enthusiastically, imagining a bowl of ramen before her, causing her saliva to drip.

"That food isn't good for the baby, dear."

"But I want to eat ramen," Aira pouted, turning her back to Renji, signalling that she was upset.

A small smile appeared on Renji's handsome face as he watched his wife's spoiled behaviour caused by pregnancy hormones. "Alright, we'll have ramen," Renji said, satisfying his wife's wishes.

Aira turned to face Renji with sparkling eyes. "Really?" she asked, making sure.

"Yes."

A wide smile instantly spread across Aira's previously pouting face. "I want two portions," Aira said, holding two fingers toward Renji.

For a moment, Renji was taken aback but smiled. "As many as you want, I'll buy them for you."

Aira hugged Renji tightly. "Arigato, Renji-kun."

"You're welcome, honey."

.

Aira looked beautiful in a pastel-coloured long-sleeve dress, her hair styled to the side and tied with a large peach-coloured ribbon. In Renji's eyes, she looked both stunning and sweet.

Renji couldn't resist planting a gentle kiss on Aira's lips. While Aira looked charming in her outfit, Renji looked relaxed in black sweatpants and a matching hoodie jacket.

"Let's go," Renji extended his hand, and Aira shyly took it.

After searching online for the nearest ramen shop, they found Nami Ramen, which could be reached on foot, although it would take about twenty minutes.

With Aira's hand lovingly held in his, they walked leisurely through the streets of Tokyo at night. To those passing by, they seemed like a typical couple, not realizing they were husband and wife.

It wasn't that Renji didn't have a personal vehicle to drive the beautiful woman next to him. Two sports cars and a big motorcycle were parked neatly in the basement of their apartment building. Renji had originally planned to take one of them. Still, Aira refused and insisted on walking instead, saying it was a good way to exercise, even though they'd been busy all day at home.

Was walking not considered exercise for Aira? Just a regular activity that drained a little energy.

Renji didn't mind at all. He enjoyed the romantic walk with his wife, unconcerned by the curious glances from the girls around them.

While they walked to the ramen shop, Aira chattered happily about many things, with Renji listening patiently, occasionally laughing or smiling. He didn't comment much, as he didn't know what to say, being the quiet type. Still, listening to his beautiful wife talk was never boring. Since their marriage, Renji had come to know another side of Aira, like how she could be talkative, not as quiet as he had originally thought.

Renji's black eyes stared ahead. The street was a little quiet tonight. Lost in his thoughts, he didn't notice Aira's odd behaviour, as she had looked at him sadly for some time.

Aira gently squeezed the front of her dress, uncertain and a little scared about whether she should speak.

"Renji-kun..."

"Yes, Aira," he replied flatly.

Slowly swallowing her saliva, Aira tried to gather her courage. "D-do you think I'm a very talkative and annoying person?" Aira asked sadly.

"Not at all."

"Then, why do you always stay silent and not respond to my stories?" She muttered, her face downcast in sadness.

For a moment, Renji was silent, and then he smiled. "I just feel confused and awkward, not knowing what to say because I've been so nervous," Renji confessed honestly, slightly embarrassed.

"You're lying," Aira protested.

Renji stopped in his tracks, causing Aira to turn around in confusion. Before she could ask, Renji suddenly took her hand and placed it over his left chest. "Can you feel it? My heart has been pounding ever since, and it's all because of you, Aira."

Feeling shy and happy, Aira gently linked her arm with Renji's, hiding her flushed cheeks.

Finally, they arrived at their destination.

A ramen shop with a large sign that read Nami Ramen hung above the entrance. Upon entering, a middle-aged man accompanied by a sweet girl with long brown hair greeted them warmly.

"Welcome to Nami Ramen." Aira smiled and greeted the man while sitting next to Renji.

"What would you like to order?" asked the friendly man, the shop owner.

Renji glanced at Aira, who was busy looking at the ramen menu on a large wooden board in front of them. "What will you have, Aira?" he asked.

"I'll have the special ramen, two jumbo sizes," Aira answered firmly.

"Alright," Renji turned to the owner. "We'll have two jumbo special ramen and Gyoza."

"Got it. Please wait a moment."

The shop's atmosphere was cosy, though not many customers were there—only four people, including Aira and Renji.

Aira's eyes wandered around the shop, noticing the many calligraphy kanji decorations and large paintings of mountain landscapes hanging neatly nearby. To Aira, the traditional Japanese ambience was strongly felt here.

Renji raised an eyebrow in surprise when he held Aira's hand. "Your hands are so cold, Aira," he said, rubbing her hands to warm them. We should have just driven, " he said regretfully, for letting Aira walk on such a cold night.

"Don't worry too much, Renji-kun."

"After we eat, we'll go home."

"Alright."

Ten minutes later, their orders arrived. Aira eagerly grabbed the chopsticks beside her bowl, not paying attention to the white steam rising from the bowl, indicating the ramen was still hot.

"Careful, it's still hot," Renji said anxiously.

"Hmm." Aira nodded as she blew on the noodles with her chopsticks. Once the noodles were cool enough, Aira immediately started eating.

Slurrrp~

The sound of the noodles being pulled into her mouth was heard. "Hmmm... Delicious." Aira's face lit up, and she enjoyed the soft noodles and the rich ramen broth.

"Well then, finish it all," Renji gently rubbed the top of Aira's head.

"Hmm." Aira nodded with her mouth full of noodles.

That night, Aira finished three large bowls of ramen. At the same time, Renji only had a plate of gyoza and a cup of mocha. Due to being full and exhausted from tidying up the house, Aira fell into a deep sleep after her meal.

Renji smiled softly, watching Aira sleep soundly. Reluctantly, he had to carry her back home. He could have asked Fujita or Shiro to pick them up, but he chose to walk while carrying his wife, enjoying this moment.

He paid no attention to the curious stares of the people around them, some even thinking that Aira was heavily drunk, but he didn't care. After all, the woman in his arms was his wife and the mother of his child, and carrying her home wasn't difficult. Besides, Aira's weight was lighter than he expected despite her large appetite.

He wondered where all the food Aira ate had gone. Could it be accumulating in her chest? He couldn't help but think that his wife's figure was enticing, especially her chest, which he could say was large and alluring.

The thought made Renji smile and lift the corners of his mouth. It was the first time in his life that Renji had carried a woman on his back, and it reminded him of his late older brother, who often carried him in this way.

As he walked, Renji couldn't help but think back to memories with his older brother, which made his emotions mix with sadness and longing. But he didn't want to dwell in sorrow; he would continue living happily because Aira was now beside him.

He gently laid Aira on the bed, removed her flat shoes one by one, and covered her chest with the blanket. Renji stayed by her side, watching her peaceful face. Sometimes, he still couldn't believe he was married and would soon become a father.

It turned out that God had been kind to him after taking everything from his life. He hoped that God wouldn't take his happiness away again this time.

"Goodnight, my love," he whispered, kissing Aira's forehead gently.

After removing his jacket and changing clothes, Renji lay beside Aira and embraced her tightly. But just as he was about to close his eyes, his phone vibrated loudly, irritating Renji.

His expression changed from annoyance to shock and worry. The person calling seemed panicked, so it was clear it wasn't good news.

After answering the call, Renji quickly rushed downstairs, changed his clothes, and grabbed the car keys from the drawer.

Before leaving, Renji kissed Aira deeply on the lips. "I'm sorry, I have to go for a while, Aira," he whispered.

That night, Renji left the house alone, driving his car. He left behind a note explaining his departure and placing it next to the lamp in the room.
