Chapter 1: Death Sucks, but it ain't so bad.
Death, like many things in life, it sucks ass. And while most of the times, if not every time, it means the end of everything, this time it's not.
I should probably present myself.
Hi, I'm Suzuki Sora and I have died at the age of fourteen from an illness known as Long QT Syndrome (LQTS).
Google it up if you don't know what this is.
Well short story long, I've been living my whole life with a bad current to my heart, making it sometimes beat and sometimes not. Life was manageable at best but at least I was loved, my only regret is leaving mom and dad heartbroken and alone, I hope they can live on without me.
Even though I was just 14 I can say that I've lived a plentiful life. I understood that my life could expire any day, so I cherished each day like the last. Maybe that's why I enjoyed doing everything: from studying to playing games like Pokémon, kingdom hearts and Digimon, to reading mangas like One piece, Jujutsu Kaisen and Dragon Ball/Z/Super/Gt/Daima.
Yeah, I know, JJK has too much gore for someone my age but come on! I liked Yūji and curse energy was quite a refreshing power system.
I wanted to read Naruto, but I died. Probably for the best though, I've heard some pretty naughty rumors about their sequel, Boruto, and things like "it's no longer a ninja story with all these aliens and stuff."
Personally, I don't like to critique things just by how others express themselves about it, if I like it, I like it. Except Bleach, which was more like a tough pill to swallow until the anime finally made the final arc.
Anyway, enough about me, let's talk about this black space in which I'm currently... floating? Existing? What's the word for when you're in a void? Because I died so I no longer exist, but then again, I am talking to no one but myself to comfort my existence in this pitch-dark void that may be starting to make me lose my sanity.
No biggie ;)
I'm conflicted, but hey, I see a light. Since I've got nothing better to do, imma go towards the light, see ya if I'm still conscious.
[Third Person POV]
A small caravan is making its way through the road, a blue haired family of three.
There's and adult male with quite the bulky body dresses himself in a white undershirt under a brown coat and brown pants while wearing some simple sandals. He has blue hair and black eyes and somewhat thick eyebrows.
The adult female has a lean body with no particular endowed proportions but carries an air of maturity and femininity, she wears a full body brown dress with a white ribbon on her hair and black toe-high shoes. She also has blue hair, but her eyes are brown be worn two pearl earrings.
In her embrace lies a small child. Like his parents, he has blue hair but it's spiky instead of being lean, his irises are yellow and he's currently sucking his own thumb while looking at his mother.
"How's Sora?" The man asked.
"He's fine, Liam. How much longer until we arrive?" The woman asked.
"The driver said that in between today at afternoon or tomorrow morning." The man, Liam, answered.
"That's good." The woman nodded while caressing the baby, Sora.
"Still, you shouldn't pressure yourself too much, Alaina, you haven't rested enough these past days." Liam said concerned.
"I'm fine. Besides, Sora here has been having even less time to rest, he's been crying all night these few weeks, the least I could do is keep him company." Alaina said and kissed Sora's cheek.
Sora giggles a little.
Now some context: This is the Suzuki family. The three of them were from a village in between the land of grass and land of fire, due to an incident, the village was destroyed forcing their people to leave to the nearest village. Since the hidden grass village rejected them, they were traveling towards the Hidden Leaf in hopes that they can be accepted.
They're just a family of crafts and arts; Liam is an experienced blacksmith and Alaina is clothes tailor. The little baby, Sora, was born around two months ago. The reason why he cries so much at night? His heart has the same problem as the other Sora.
You know where I'm going with this, right? Then, let's skip some years from now.
(4 years Later)
'This is bad.' Thought Sora as he walked around his new home, the hidden leaf village.
'It's been four years since I've reincarnated here, and I've got nothing! No special talent, no cheat, no system, not anything! Worst yet, I'm in the world of Naruto!!' Sora.
As obvious as it already was through the tittle, Sora has indeed reincarnated to the Naruto world. How? Remember the baby Sora from before, yeah, he died from his heart thingy while sleeping and then our Sora's soul stepped right in.
He was startled of course; Can you blame him? The dude was forced to relive his entire life in a new body with new parents in a different world. Fortunately, his heart condition was cured once he took over. How? For plot's sake since it would've been a bother to write him with such a debuff when he has no buffs whatsoever.
Anyway, we're currently in the year 45 of the Konoha calendar.
'Well, I know nothing about anything regarding the hidden leaf other that is the home of the protagonist: Uzumaki Naruto. I knew I should've read the manga even if it was a little of the background. Instead, I played that rip-off game "ninja saga". I just played it because I thought it was related to Naruto, I only realized my mistake after I finished the storyline.' Sora thought dejected.
"Hey, Sora-san!" A kid with spiked yellow hair and blue eyes jogs happily while waving his hand at Sora.
Sora looks at the kid and smiles, if there was single good thing about his reincarnation, besides his loving parents, it's that he made a friend.
"Yo, Minato, how you doin'? Also, drop the "san" it feels weird hearing that in my name." Sora.
"Well, I tried using the "dono" and "kun" suffixes, but you don't like them either. Also, I'm quite well, thank you for asking." Minato answered with a smile.
"Whatever, what should we play today?" Sora.
"Actually, I have another idea in mind." Minato answered while taking a small book from his pocket.
"Hm? What is it?" Sora.
"Well, my father told me that once we reach 6, we'll have to enter the academy." Minato browsed the book.
"So? We still have 2 years before that, what's the issue?" Sora.
"Well, I thought, what if we trained early to prepare ourselves before the academy begins?" Minato shows Sora a collection of training regimes for kids.
"Ok. I have literally nothing else to do today so, sure why not." Sora said as he took the booklet and began walking towards a plain.
"So, I was thinking, first we use the Leaf training method to practice our chakra control and then we can do some sparring." Minato spoke excitedly.
"I know very little about chakra, isn't it the energy that combines mind and physical power to use them as one or something like that?" Sora gave the book back to Minato.
"Well, it's a little bit more than just that." Minato.
"Well, enlighten me oh Almighty son from two ninja parents." Sora used a sarcastic tone as he slightly bowed before Minato.
"Hehe..." Minato let a dry laugh out before explaining properly.
"As you said, Chakra is created by combining two energies: Physical Energy: which is Gained from the body's cells, increased through physical training and stamina. And Spiritual Energy: Which Derives from mental strength, willpower, and experience. When these two energies are mixed within the body, they form chakra, which can then be molded and released to perform various jutsu." Minato.
"Wow, awesome, Minatopedia-kun." Sora.
"Drop that nickname." Minat said with a wry smile.
"Ok, ok, continue. How do we train it with this leaf method? I read what it said but I just didn't understand it." Sora.
"Before any of that, we must feel our chakra first." Minato.
"And how do we do that? Oh, hey, we arrived." Sora.
Both Sora and Minato look at the plain with a big wide tree. This is an area somewhat deep within the forest on the Hokage monument. Minato found it one day by accident when he and Sora were playing to see which of them could find the tastier mushrooms.
They both sat under the tree's shade and exhaled happily.
"Nice wind, nice shade and *Sora picks up a stone and throws it at a branch, the branch snaps and let an apple fall, which Sora catches* all the apples one could eat." Sora begins eating the apple.
"Ahem!" Minato.
Sora stopped focusing on the apple and signaled Minato to resume his explanation.
"The first step would be to Meditate and Focus. We'll Sit quietly and relax our bodies." Minato.
"Done." Sora said as he threw the apple core to the ground and sat cross leg.
"Close your eyes and focus on your breathing, allowing your mind to become calm and centered." Minato began to follow the steps as well.
"Already doing it." Sora.
"Concentrate on the area around your stomach (the diaphragm), where the chakra network is most active, known as the Tenketsu points." Minato closed the book and began focusing.
Sora noticed Minato's intense concentration and couldn't help but to complain.
'Wow, a 4-year-old has more concentration that most 18-19 years old should have during college. Are we too lazy or are ninja kids too productive?' Sora wondered.
Sora brushed off those thoughts as he began to focus on himself. Slowly but surely, he made his way to attain complete focus and then began to feel the energy known as chakra from his body.
His chakra wasn't anything that impressive or anything, he feels it's like a small and thin river that travels through his body.
"So, this is chakra..." Sora slowly opened his eyes as he marveled at the foreign energy.
'Is this what it feels like to be a protagonist of a story?!' Sora thought excitedly.
Just as he was about to gloat to Minato, he sees the blonde kid climbing the tree using just his feet, in fact, climbing isn't the right word, he's directly WALKING the tree just as if he were walking on the ground.
Noticing the gaze on him, Minato looks at his friend with excited eyes.
"You're finally awake. I was worried something might've gone wrong." Minato said relieved.
"Am, Minato, what're you doin'?" Sora asked.
"Ah, this is the tree climbing exercise. It's the second step after the leaf training method." Minato.
"And you're doing it because?" Sora sled praying his doubts are false.
"Oh, it was super easy, so I decided to try Tree climbing and it worked. I'm one step closer to becoming a ninja." Minato said happily while Sora's mind turned sour.
"How long was I out?" Sora.
"Around and hour or so, I woke up 55 minutes before you and then began the leaf training method, 35 minutes later I started with the tree walking and have been doing it until you've woken up just now." Minato.
'Protagonist my ass! He's the true protagonist of the world!' Sora cursed as he continued to practice with Minato throughout the day.
Sora eventually separated from Minato as both of them went to their respective homes. Sora arrived at his home. It was a simple and humble house with no upper floor but at least there's enough room for Sora to have a separated room from his parents.
Speaking of them, Liam managed to find himself a job as a Blacksmith in a ninja weapon store and Alaina got herself a job on a clothes shop, albeit she works only Wednesdays and Thursdays.
"I'm home." Sora.
Sora entered his house and saw his father in the dinner table looking at two different ores and began writing something on his notebook.
"Studying rocks again, dad?" Sora asked as he sat down and waited for dinner.
"Yeah, these ores are at least half a gram denser than the previous ones I used when forging. I'll keep record of how different the process is from the last time." Liam answered before closing his notebook.
Just as the two guys were about to start a conversation, Alaina came from the kitchen with their dinner.
"Welcome back, Sora. Did you have fun today?" Alaina spoke gently while positioning the plates.
"Yeah, but I didn't play today. Minato wanted both of us to train for when we become ninjas." Sora said while eyeing his mother's egg rolls.
"Training, well, you can always choose to inherit my job you know? Smithery isn't as cool as being a Shinobi, but it is safer." Liam spoke with a sweatdrop.
"Dad, we've been over this. I want to be a ninja. I'll learn your techniques in the meantime but being a ninja is what I want to do." Sora.
'Right, otherwise, how the heck am I gonna prepare for the future, which I don't know? I don't think I'm gonna cause that much of an impact here anyway but better prepared than sorry as they say.' Sora.
"We understand, Sora. Don't be too harsh on your father, as parents, we're bound to worry for your safety. Even if you become the strongest ninja in the world, we'll still be worried about you." Alaina spoke gently while giving each their servings.
Sora smiles.
This scene makes him remember the ones he had with his previous parents, and since now he wasn't afflicted by his illness he vowed to live happily ever after with his loved ones in this life.
"Thank you, mom. I love you." Sora.
"Oh? And no love you to dad?" Liam faked being hurt.
"Of course, I love you too, dad." Sora smiled again.
"That's my kid!" Liam ruffled Sora's hair playfully.
As they ate their dinner, Sora went to his room and laid on his bed without a single worry. As he laid there, Sora's mind began to change, all the memories of his past life are taking root into his mind.
So much in fact that Sora's subconscious is keeping them as a high priority file to forever be remembered.
The night passed and Sora woke up in his comfy bed, eager to begin a new day until suddenly, a great pain struck his head. The pain didn't even let him scream and he could only clutch his head in pain while lying on his bed.
As the pain diminished, he began to gasp for air as he began to keep his mind in check. He immediately realized how much his memory has improved, from remembering everything with an inhuman amount of precision to the most recent event, just that they were way clearer.
Just to be clear, it's not that he couldn't remember his past life, it's just that the memories weren't neither clear not detailed, which meant that he had some voids in his past knowledge.
'Hah… that was painful. I remember everything. But why now? Is this my cheat? Because it definitely doesn't feel so much of a cheat! Whatever, I'll worry about this later.' Sora shook his head a little and went towards the dining room.
Another day in this Shinobi World.
(AN: I'll use the suffix "style" instead of "release" when performing Jutsus. If you've got a problem with that, suit yourselves out of here.
The MC is somewhat naïve and oblivious. He died at the age of 14, that's not exactly enough to know many things about the world unless they're game related (or at least that's how 14-year-old me was).
As for the timeline, I'm using the one made by a fan called "Believe it." And except for some characters here and there I need alive for the story I want to create I'll rely on the timeline to keep track of the canonical and non-canonical events.
Lastly, any recommendation is appreciated and I'm open for criticism, feel free to make your comments on the review section or at the end of each chapter. Thanks you very much.)
