Chapter 16: The Greed that Kills the World(Pov Chapter)
I used to be naive.
When I was young I thought that strength was the only thing that mattered.
But I was wrong. As the power of Greed is even stronger.
"First Great Shinobi war? Why did such a thing happen?"
I naively asked Hayate.
"Huh."
He did not seem to be expecting the question when I asked him, which makes sense since I was only a child when I did that.
After all what kind of a child wants to know about how a war begins of all things? But I was a curious kid.
"I mean why did the first great Ninja war occur?"
"It's because of the greed of a man who yearns for power."
"He was powerful."
"And with the aid of the First Hokage who was also very powerful, no one dared to stir up trouble because they feared the combined might of the two. But the greed of that man built tensions with other villages that carried over years even after his death. Which eventually leads to the first great Shinobi war."
"He believed that power is everything. But No matter how strong a person is he will still die one day."
"Greed. What is that?" I asked.
"Greed is a desire that makes you want for things that are outside of basic necessary needs."
"I still don't get it."
"You know about the delicious barbecue shop that we went to on your last birthday, Yakiniku Q."
I nodded. At that time I could only understand what he said if he dumbed it down because I was very young.
"You don't need the food from that place to survive. Right? You could just buy groceries and cook for yourself."
I nodded again despite not understanding what he was saying fully.
"Wanting to eat from that place again even though you have food in front of you is desire. If you want you have both the food then that's greed."
"So I am a bad child if I want to go to that place?"
"Well, no. Having a little greed is fine. It's just that you should not let it dictate your whole life to it."
Some of the things that he said at that time were not entirely accurate since he had to dumb it down for me a lot.
Otherwise, I would not be able to grasp the concept.
I found out later that he left out many things such as the said man picking a fight with the leader of Iwa and doing things such as asking for tributes.
But even still I got some misunderstandings from his explanations.
I was even mad at him for a few weeks and did not talk to him because I thought he called me Greedy.
I was still not entirely sure what that meant at that time but I can tell Greed is not a good thing to have.
That's what I thought in the past.
But now I know that without greed you would not be able to reach the top of the world and become No 1.
Oh, How times have changed my past brash straightforward thinking innocent self.

"By showing our incompetence the blue hair could present a case for the one who hired us to use a similar organization to ours that he is also a part of."
I explained this to Tsurugi and Tate.
"I don't get what you are trying to say."
Tate said while still being dumbfounded.
"I see. So he wanted the business to be carried out in the future by using the service of the group he belongs to."
I nodded at her words.
"That's confusing."
Tate said but it seemed like he was finally starting to understand my words.
Still, my mind can't comprehend how his weapon works. Is it some type of water release infused within it?
I heard the Hokage talking to Hayama sensei about how one of the seven ninja swordsmen of the mist is sighted here. Is that boy one of them? He does not seem to be much older than me.
Hayama sensei seems to have noticed my concerns and said something to me.
"He is not one of the seven swordsmen of the mist. Don't worry. Although it is a problem in itself, it is still better than facing one of the Ninja swordsmen of the mist."
"So what if it's the seven Ninja swordsmen of the mist? Can't you just defeat them sensei? Aren't you a Jonin?"
Tate said to Hayama as sensei's expression became slightly gloomy.
"It's getting late. We should quickly depart from here. If it gets too dark we might be targeted by the ninja from Takumi village again."
Hayama sensei said as he got up and started to prepare for departure.
He does not seem to want to answer the question that Tate just asked.
But deep down I know that if we ever encounter a member of the seven Ninja swordsman of the mist right now and have to fight him for our lives, we would all die just by looking at sensei's expression.
"So then let's get going."
I said as I got up.
I try moving my arms a bit to check if my injuries are starting to hurt less.
I wonder if there is some type of training that allows me to heal up faster.
"Huh. Why are you smiling?"
Tsurugi asked with a confused expression.
"I don't know."
I don't know what is the feeling I have at that time.
I should be worried since being in the village means that the chance of being attacked would increase even further, especially if the village is going to cover for the blue-haired boy.
We moved forward without getting any more rest and were able to make it to the entrance of Takumi village.
The people that were guarding the village entrances seemed to be normal people that are armed with weapons instead of full-fledged Shinobis like the blue-haired boy.
So that is why villages like this are not considered part of the five great Shinobi villages. They do not even have some spare Shinobi as Guards.
I was from Konoha which is considered to have the largest military in the world alongside Kumo so it was the first time I saw something like that happen.
