Chapter 8: C7: Smashing the Bun Stall in Rage
Ding! System detected that the host is being bullied by villagers. Please choose an option:
[Option 1: Destroy the bun stall. Reward – Earth Release: Hiding Like a Mole Technique.]
[Option 2: Kill the bun shop owner. Reward – Fire Release: Burning Ash.]
Naruto's mind buzzed as the system's notification rang in his head.
Just for buying a steamed bun, I get an optional mission?
Both choices came with a jutsu reward.
Naruto knew he had an affinity for all five chakra natures, but Wind Release was his strongest. That was why Kakashi had tested him with chakra paper back then.
Still, choosing was easy.
"System, I pick Option 1. Smash the stall."
The second jutsu was far stronger, but Naruto wasn't about to go that far—not yet. He was being watched. ANBU were probably tailing him right now.
Killing someone would alert the Third Hokage and Danzo. He wasn't ready to defect from Konoha just yet.
But smashing the stall? That, he could do.
---
"Hey! You damn demon fox! You dare talk back to me? Let's see if I don't beat you today!"
The bun shop owner's face twisted with rage. He still held deep hatred from when the Nine-Tails attacked Konoha years ago, destroying his home.
Grabbing a rolling pin, he swung it down with all his strength—
But Naruto was already gone.
He sidestepped effortlessly, then drove his foot straight into the man's crotch.
"Here's a kick to end your bloodline!"
BAM!
"AGHHHHHHH!!!"
The bun shop owner's scream tore through the street.
His body crumpled. His hands shot down between his legs, his face twisted in pure agony. He curled up on the ground, writhing like a worm.
On a rooftop nearby, two ANBU watched the scene unfold—one wearing a bear mask, the other a tiger mask.
Hearing the scream, they both flinched.
Their hands instinctively moved to protect their own crotches.
"…Naruto's brutal," Bear Mask muttered.
"…He's changed," Tiger Mask replied. "The Naruto we used to watch would've just taken the insults. Now? He's… different."
As they whispered, Naruto picked up the fallen rolling pin.
Without hesitation, he smashed it down on the stall.
CRACK! SMASH! CRASH!
The steamer shattered. The stove broke apart. The entire stall collapsed into ruins.
---
"Whoa, whoa, isn't that a bit much?"
Bear Mask tensed. "Should we stop him?"
"…Let it go," Tiger Mask sighed. "No point in interfering."
They had watched Naruto suffer for years—endless scorn, ridicule, cold stares. He had endured everything, alone.
But they were still shinobi of Konoha. They still feared him.
And ever since yesterday, Hiruzen had been watching Naruto closely.
The Third Hokage's eyes had lit up upon hearing that Naruto had mastered the Flying Thunder God and even trained in the Eight Gates.
Only a fool wouldn't see what that meant.
---
Ding! Mission complete. Reward acquired: Earth Release: Hiding Like a Mole Technique.
Hearing the system notification, Naruto smirked.
Twelve years of misery—finally, he could push back.
---
"You bastard!" the bun shop owner wailed. "You—You ruined everything! Someone help! A ninja's bullying a civilian!"
He clutched his broken stall, rolling on the ground and sobbing.
And it worked.
People started gathering, peeking from their shops, stepping into the street.
They all turned on Naruto.
"You damn brat! You beat an innocent man and destroyed his stall?"
"Disgraceful! The village trained you to protect us, not bully us!"
"See? He's just like the demon fox! He'll never change!"
Hatred. Disgust. Accusations.
A wall of voices surrounded Naruto, attacking from all sides.
Until—
BANG!
Naruto slammed the rolling pin into the stove again, the loud crack silencing the crowd.
A heavy stillness fell over the street.
Naruto swept his gaze over them, his blue eyes cold.
"You people are amazing." His voice was low, sharp. "So united when it comes to blaming me. So righteous when you're standing on your moral high ground."
He pointed at the bun shop owner. "But did any of you bother to ask who started it?"
"Did any of you care that he was the one who tried to hit me first?"
His hands curled into fists.
"And you—" His eyes moved across the crowd. "You've hated me my whole life. For what? For something I had no control over?"
"You insult me. You glare at me. You drive me away." His voice cracked with anger. "I've taken it for years."
"But I'm done."
The people flinched.
"I graduated from the Academy. I have power now." Naruto exhaled sharply. "I don't have to take your crap anymore."
"So let me make this clear."If you try to push me down again, I will push back."
His voice echoed through the street, heavy with finality.
Let them watch. Let the ANBU listen.
If they thought he would be some obedient little jinchūriki—
They were dead wrong.
And if Konoha refused to change…
Then maybe it was time for him to leave.
