Naruto: Starting with Infinite Chakra

Chapter 54: Chapter 54: The True Foodie

"To directly harness the forces of nature... as expected of a Forbidden Technique."

Jiraiya was deeply satisfied with the reward he had just received.

This particular ninjutsu was immensely powerful.

In the original storyline, Sasuke created the Lightning Release: Kirin, which relied on the Sharingan to accurately predict and manipulate the speed and trajectory of natural lightning—a technique limited by significant constraints. A single misjudgment in the timing or direction of the lightning could lead to failure.

However, the Myriad Thunder Prison technique Jiraiya had just received had none of these shortcomings.

As long as it was stormy weather, the technique could directly draw upon natural lightning. Its controllability and stability far exceeded that of Kirin.

"The Myriad Thunder Prison has immense potential for adaptation. With enough effort, it can lead to the creation of numerous new Lightning Release techniques," the system's voice chimed in.

Whether it was a self-created Forbidden Technique or one learned from others, each could serve as the foundation for developing countless derivative jutsu.

Take Kakashi, for example. After creating Chidori, he used it as a base to develop techniques like Raikiri, Lightning Beast Tracking Fang, and Lightning Transmission.

"Continue the sign-in."

After extracting the Myriad Thunder Prison, Jiraiya immediately issued the command to sign in again.

After all, the daily sign-in rewards were separate from the seven-day sign-in rewards.

[Ding! Daily sign-in successful. Reward: Two Years of Chakra Training.]

The system's notification rang out.

A ninja's chakra reserves could be gradually cultivated and increased through training. The stronger one's bloodline and innate talent, the more chakra they could amass through training.

"Extract."

Jiraiya gave the command, and a radiant glow enveloped him as the chakra poured into his body. His internal reserves began to surge rapidly.

With his Sage Body, the amount of chakra stored in his cells was already immense—almost monstrous. However, he had yet to fully refine and draw it out.

Now, thanks to the system's enhancement, his hidden chakra reserves were being extracted continuously.

Once extracted, the chakra would be stored directly in his body, ready for use in future jutsu without needing to be drawn from his cells again.

"My current chakra reserves must already surpass those of most elite jonin. And considering the vast stores still hidden within my cells, once I fully master the Sage Body, my chakra levels will rival those of the Tailed Beasts."

Feeling the ever-increasing chakra within him, Jiraiya's anticipation for the future grew.

"It's about time I started training in Sage Mode. Natural energy is the true power of this world, unlike chakra, which originates from the God Tree's fruit and only entered this world after Kaguya consumed it. Combining these two forces can create even more powerful Sage Chakra."

In the original storyline, Jiraiya accidentally reverse-summoned himself to Mount Myoboku while practicing the Summoning Jutsu, which led to his learning Sage Mode.

However, this "accident" wasn't mere coincidence—it was likely orchestrated by the Great Toad Sage, who foresaw Jiraiya's pivotal role in guiding the Child of Prophecy.

Now that Jiraiya had reincarnated into this world, he wasn't sure if the Great Toad Sage would summon him to Mount Myoboku again.

He had searched his home thoroughly but found no trace of a Summoning Scroll linked to Mount Myoboku.

If the Great Toad Sage still chose him, perhaps a scroll would suddenly appear at home in the next few days. But if his arrival had disrupted the timeline and changed the future, he would need to find another way to learn Sage Mode.

One way or another, Jiraiya was determined to master it. Sage Mode would be crucial to his goal of becoming stronger.

Whether it was Black Zetsu, silently working to revive his mother, or Madara Uchiha, scheming for peace in his own way, both were extremely dangerous threats.

And then there was the Otsutsuki clan...

"For now, I need to focus on the smaller goals. It's time to visit the Senju Clan."

Shaking his head, Jiraiya reminded himself to take things one step at a time.

If he could win Tsunade's heart, the power and resources he'd gain in Konoha would be substantial.

Having been reincarnated into this ninja world, his ultimate aim was clear: to rise as the God of Ninja and reshape this world.

But such an ambitious goal would require careful planning and incremental progress. First, he needed to secure control of Konoha.

To do that, he had to build a faction of his own. Tsunade and the Senju Clan were prime allies.

"This gift should be to Senju Isamu's liking," Jiraiya murmured to himself with a grin.

After washing up and putting on a fresh set of clothes, he looked at the two limited-edition adult comics in his hands and chuckled.

Today, he was planning to visit Senju Isamu, the head of the Senju Clan—and his future brother-in-law. He figured it would be respectful to bring a gift.

(T/N: Before the author said it was her relative's presumably brother (not sibling possibly cousin), Jirraiyu suggested that in canon he probably died in the war.)

Although he wasn't sure what Isamu liked, Jiraiya was confident. If Isamu was a normal man, he'd definitely appreciate this gift.

Carefully wrapping the comics in exquisite packaging, Jiraiya set off for the Senju residence.

On the way, he passed the Akimichi Clan's barbecue restaurant and spotted Sakumo Hatake exiting the establishment.

"Captain Sakumo, I can't believe you're still eating! You must have an incredible appetite!" Jiraiya exclaimed, genuinely surprised.

Sakumo looked utterly exhausted, as if he might keel over at any moment.

Now this was the mark of a true foodie—risking collapse for the sake of a meal.

Jiraiya felt he couldn't measure up.

"I've been stationed at the border for so long. It's been ages since I've had a proper meal, so I indulged a bit," Sakumo replied with a faint smile, doing his best to mask his fatigue.

In reality, the Akimichi barbecue restaurant had been unusually busy yesterday. Sakumo had ended up washing dishes until dawn, leaving him thoroughly drained.

"Captain, no matter how good the food is, you shouldn't overdo it. Take care of yourself," Jiraiya advised kindly.

"Thanks for your concern, but I really need some rest. See you later," Sakumo replied, too tired to continue the conversation.

As he walked away, he resolved never to eat out with Jiraiya and Orochimaru again—unless they were paying. And if they did, he'd make sure to eat his fill and let them experience the joy of washing dishes all night.

I just released a new fanfic featuring a transmigrator in Danzo, and it's looking really promising. I'm leaning towards the title "Hidden Danzo"—but feel free to check it out on my profile and see what you think!
