Naruto: The Medical Shinobi

Fugaku invited Ryu to dinner to express their gratitude for saving his son's life.

Itachi hadn't told Ryu about his encounter with the ghost yet; he just told him that his father wants to meet him.

"Hello, Lord Fugaku, I am Ryu Hamura, a friend of your son," Ryu said to Uchiha Clan's Leader, Fugaku Uchiha.

Ryu thought, "This man has the Mangekyo Sharingan; I wonder what unique ability his Mangekyo has. Considering both Itachi and Sasuke had Amaterasu, I am sure he does too. The viewers of the story did not get to see him in action. I wonder if in this timeline I will get to see him in action. Just what could be his other ability?"

As Ryu wondered what possible abilities the father of two prominent main characters had. Characters without whom the timeline would have messed up big time. Fugaku was also thinking about Ryu's potential.

Even if he had not done anything outrageous openly yet, like Itachi or Kakashi did in their time at the academy, he had still shown a very good track record in both midterms and the 1st-year final exam. His talent had garnered recognition from numerous high-level Jonins.

Fugaku knew Ryu would grow up to be a talented individual, so he was planning to get him under his wing somehow. He was already happy that Itachi had befriended him, recognising the positive influence Ryu had on Itachi's life and skills.

Earlier he was concerned for his son since Kaito and Akira had already awakened their Sharingan; within the Uchiha clan, lacking a Sharingan meant having no standing, even for talented individuals like Itachi.

"Welcome, Ryu Hamura, I have heard so much praise from the youngsters of the clan," Fugaku said.

Ryu smiled and replied, "I doubt that they had put in any good word considering I had them on the floor each time they challenged me for a duel. Anyway, thank you for inviting me."

"Hahaha, nothing like that. Even if they are beaten, an Uchiha will never undermine anyone's talent, even of an enemy." Fugaku said.

"Speaking of enemies, do you know that before the foundation of Leaf Village, the Uchiha clan and Hamura clan were enemies?" Fugaku asked.

"Yes, I know that. Grandpa told me about it. Who would have thought 100 years ago that I would be invited to dine in here?" Ryu replied.

Fugaku replied, "If I believe the tales I have heard from my grandfather, you would have been killed if spotted near the Uchiha settlement in the past. Your clan was the main supplier of the weapons to all our enemies in the past."

"Let me tell you a famous folklore of the Uchiha clan that is connected to your Hamura clan," Fugaku said.

He continued, "Once upon a time, many hundred years ago, the son of a leader of the Hamura clan was captured; for his ransom, the Uchiha clan demanded a weapon that is not a weapon to make things difficult for a weapon maker."

Ryu spoke, "A weapon that is not a weapon? It sounds like they really want to give him hope before taking it away. No offence, but your clan seemed ruthless."

Fugaku continued, "Yes, they had hoped that the Hamura clan would fail. But the opposite happened, and what your clan made then impressed our then leader so much that he let the hostage's son go."

Ryu asked, "Just what did they make that is a weapon and not a weapon at the same time?"

Fugaku explained, "The Hamura clan crafted a fan from the spirit tree, an ancient tree mentioned in Uchiha clan history and folklore. Fan has since become a symbol of the Uchiha clan."

He continued, "That fan was not only a powerful weapon with unique abilities but also a symbol of triumph and strength for the Uchiha clan. Its ability to channel chakra made it a unique weapon, and it became a symbol of leadership among the Uchiha clan. It was passed down from one leader to the next."

"Unfortunately, the fan was lost 100 years ago when the then clan leader lost it during a battle." Fugaku added.

Ryu replied, "Too bad; I want to look at this fan made by my ancestors."

Fugaku nodded solemnly, "Yes, it is a shame that such a significant weapon and symbol of the Uchiha clan was lost to us."

Ryu thought, "This fan must be Gunbai, the fan Madara Uchiha had, and the spirit tree must be the God Tree that Kaguya Otsutsuki had planted millennia ago. If my guess is right, then that fan was made in a time period near to when the Sage of Six Paths existed and that wood of the divine tree was still available."

"By the way, I thank you for providing my son that poison; it saved his life," Fugaku said earnestly, conveying their heartfelt gratitude to Ryu for saving Itachi's life.

Ryu guesses so it happened: 'Obito must have attacked Itachi just like in the original timeline. I need to feign ignorance, or Itachi will suspect me.'

Ryu said, "What?"

Ryu looked at Itachi and asked again without any signs of lying."What happened?"

Itachi told him about his encounter with a ghost-like enemy and how his creation helped him escape without as much as a scratch.

Ryu replied, "It's not a big deal. I thought of that as a hypothetical situation, and I am grateful it worked out well for you."

Just then a kid came running towards Itachi and grabbed him.

"Is he your brother?" Ryu asked Itachi.

"Yes, his name is Sasuke." Itachi replied.

"He is cute," Ryu thought. "And he looks like a girl."

Fugaku joked, "I am willing to pay for awakening services for Sasuke too."

Ryu remembered telling Shisui that he would charge the Uchiha clan for his awakening services if the Uchiha brats kept awakening their Sharingan because of him.

"That was a joke, Mr. Fugaku," Ryu replied with a light-hearted tone.

Sasuke's mother complained, "Leaving the kid out. My Sasuke is too young; let him enjoy his childhood."

Ryu thought, 'Yes, let him enjoy his childhood. His playtime will be over in a few years. It pains me to think that I know it but cannot do anything to prevent his dark future. I am not powerful enough to tame this cosmic butterfly.'

Fugaku noticed Ryu was lost in thought; curious about his relationship with Saya, he finally asked, "Are you Saya's boyfriend?"

Ryu choked on what he was eating. Itachi helped him out and gave him a glass of water.

Itachi's mother and Shisui giggled.

"What are you talking about?" Ryu asked Fugaku in response to his embarrassing question.

Fugaku said, "Saya seems to be spending too much time with you."

Ryu replied, "So you came to this conclusion. Sorry, but I am not. We are just friends. And we train together, and so do a few more students from the academy."

"Then maybe Akira," Fugaku then said.

"Lord Fugaku, I am barely 8. I don't want any girl trouble." Ryu said.

Fugaku cautiously said, "Kid, even if you don't want girl trouble, girl trouble will find you, sooner or later." 

Mikoto cleared her throat as a warning and said, "Stop playing matchmaker with the kids and eat your food."

Both Itahi and Shisui laughed. Sasuke is also joining them without knowing why they are laughing.

Ryu thought, 'This innocent kid will turn out to be an EMO and a heartbreaker in the future.'

Ryu thought about the hardships that would come to him in the future and sighed. 

He reflected, 'His challenges will forge him into a formidable ninja capable of confronting his future adversaries. Without them, he would remain overshadowed by his brother, lacking the strength he needs.'

They came outside to talk alone. Itachi, Shisui, and Ryu. Itachi had many questions but was hesitant to directly ask them.

"So how is your project going?" Itachi started the small talk.

"Oh, very smooth. I recently made a breakthrough." Ryu replied.

Shisui asked, "What project?"

Itachi said, "He wanted to harness the power of the sun to generate lightning."

"Is that possible?" Shisui asked.

Ryu replied, "It's very much possible. I already succeeded." 

Itachi went serious for a second and said, "I wanted to ask you something."

"Can you see the future?" he asked. 

Ryu was stunned for a moment, and he noticed Shisui had activated his Sharingan.

"What? Future? What are you talking about?" Ryu responded with a series of questions, carefully managing his facial expression.

"I have a suspicion that you can see the future," Itachi said.

"How did you come to that conclusion?" Ryu asked

"The hypothetical enemy that can turn into a ghost became real for me and attacked me." Itachi said.

He continued, "You saved my life by giving me the means to fight him, and I believe you did that on purpose."

"I discussed it as a hypothetical enemy. I never imagined it could become real." Ryu lied very convincingly.
