Chapter 4: Chapter 4 – Surprise confession
The next day, I headed to the Ninja Academy early. As I walked through the hallways, I passed by some of my classmates. Suddenly, one of the students approached me with a wide grin and waved excitedly.
"Hey, Hyougen! I thought you'd skip today again."
I looked at him indifferently and replied calmly,
"You're an idiot. How would I miss graduation day?"
Yes, today was the day our class would graduate from the Ninja Academy. The reason he said that was because I had barely attended classes for the past two years—ever since my father died. I remember that at first, the teacher tried to punish me by making me stand outside the classroom, but I simply left the school entirely. I had no guardian to complain to, and over time, the teacher just ignored my absence.
To me, the academy was nothing but a waste of time. After regaining the memories of my past life, I realized I could train on my own and save a lot of time. As for the theoretical lessons, they were nothing more than endless talk about the Hokage, Konoha, and the "Will of Fire"—essentially brainwashing to make ninjas die for Konoha with a smile on their faces.
"Hyougen! Why are you spacing out?"
I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Renji's voice.
"It's nothing. When does the exam start?" I asked, already thinking about going back to train my Wind Ninjutsu.
"It'll take about an hour for all the students to arrive, and the Hokage will be attending too."
He said that with an excited smile, clearly eager to perform in front of the Hokage.
I looked at this new fool, brainwashed by the Will of Fire, before giving him a slight nod and heading to the corner of the classroom to meditate for a while.

Half an hour later…
Under the gazes of many students, a girl suddenly approached me.
She was Shimura Ayane, a cold and beautiful girl, widely considered the most attractive in our class. Almost every boy here dreamed of dating her.
"Hey, Hyougen, want to go out with me after the exam? I need to buy some ninja tools."
She spoke in a nonchalant tone, though I could sense a slight hint of nervousness.
I thought for a moment. She must be confident in passing the exam if she's already thinking about other things. Coming from a strong clan, she wasn't like the other nervous students—she carried herself with certainty.
I responded calmly, fully aware of what this invitation implied,
"No thanks, I have other plans."
She stared at me for a moment, and I noticed a brief flash of shock in her eyes.
The entire class was stunned. It wasn't just that Ayane had taken the initiative to approach me—it was the fact that I rejected her so bluntly. Everyone understood that her offer wasn't simply about buying ninja tools; it was a way to get closer to me. And just when they were at their peak of anticipation, they heard my cold rejection, flipping their emotions upside down.
"Hey! How can you talk to Lady Ayane like that? She's from the Shimura Clan!"
A student suddenly shouted, but everyone looked at him as if he were an idiot. Sure, they all wanted to seize this opportunity to stand out and impress Ayane, but they also knew very well that shouting at an Uchiha was not a good idea.
Even though I rarely attended classes, no one had forgotten my name: Uchiha Hyougen—a member of the Uchiha Clan, one of Konoha's most powerful clans, which controlled the police force.
The student who had shouted seemed to realize his mistake too late. Panic filled his face—he was just a civilian ninja with no backing, not someone who could stand against a great clan like the Uchiha, especially one that was not known for its tolerance.
And just as he was about to apologize, he heard my calm voice say:
"What did you just say? And so what if she's from the Shimura Clan? I'm from the Uchiha Clan. How can you even compare our backgrounds? They don't even have a kekkei genkai or special techniques, let alone you civilians."
Silence filled the classroom. Some students looked furious, but none dared to speak. They knew I was right—everyone had heard about the Uchiha Clan's powerful Sharingan.
As for Ayane, she didn't seem angry that I had insulted her clan or rejected her invitation. Instead, she was staring at me with an intrigued look in her eyes, as if I had become even more interesting to her.
Tension filled the room, and it looked like some of the civilian students were considering attacking me all at once. Maybe they thought that numbers were on their side—after all, the Uchiha Clan wouldn't punish an entire class for ganging up on me.
But before things could escalate further, a furious voice echoed through the room.
"What's going on here?! Why are you all gathered like this? Don't you know the Hokage will be arriving soon? How dare you cause trouble now?!"
Everyone turned to see the instructor glaring at us with intense anger.
