Chapter 27: Full Enhancement—I'm Becoming the Next Asura!

—Konoha, Root Headquarters.

"Lord Danzo, that's the situation. Please forgive me—but if we hadn't done it this way, we might not have made it back alive..."

Haruta stood before Danzo, maintaining a respectful posture.

He stole a glance at Aburame Ryoma standing nearby, as well as the Root shinobi training outside.

For now, it seemed wiser to stay on Danzo's good side.

Danzo, meanwhile, was deep in thought.

His expression was calm, but his eyes…

His eyes reflected the same disbelief that had been in Hiruzen Sarutobi's just hours ago—

Perhaps even more so.

Danzo was shocked.

He had never expected to hear such a report.

Much like Kabuto's intel, Haruta's actions had completely turned Sunagakure upside down.

And worst of all—he had done it in Danzo's name!

Yet…

Danzo couldn't even be mad.

From Konoha's perspective, this was a flawless victory.

Haruta had sabotaged Sunagakure's negotiations with Kirigakure, effectively crushing Rasa's leverage against Iwagakure.

A weakened Sunagakure was exactly what benefited Konoha.

And Danzo despised Rasa.

He still held a grudge from the Third Great Ninja War.

By allying with Ebizō, Haruta had potentially secured a powerful internal connection within Sunagakure.

Even though Ebizō hadn't agreed yet, that was expected.

Haruta didn't have the authority to finalize such a deal, and Ebizō was far too cautious to accept right away.

But the fact that the foundation had been laid was already a massive success.

At this point, Danzo even questioned—

Could I have done it better myself?

Finally, after a long silence, Danzo spoke.

"No… you did well. Extremely well."

Haruta raised an eyebrow.

This was rare praise.

"Your progress pleases me. Your strategy was sound. As for your mission… she's worth more alive. We'll consider it… a success."

"Consider it" a success?!

I nearly got myself killed, and it's only considered a success?!

Haruta was ready to curse—

—until suddenly, a system notification flashed before his eyes.

---

[Mission Completed: Neutralize Pakura]

[Mission Rank: S]

[Reward: +5 Free Points]

[Bonus Reward for Completing a High-Difficulty Mission:]

[Danzo's Wind Release]

---

Haruta blinked.

Then, instantly, his face adopted a perfectly respectful expression.

"Thank you, Lord Danzo."

The special reward wasn't particularly exciting.

After all, Haruta had never really invested in Wind Release.

But…

Five free points?!

That was huge.

Haruta quickly reevaluated his priorities.

It seemed that the harder the mission, the better the rating… and the more free points he received.

Up until now, his mindset had been:

"Why would I risk my life working for Danzo when my monthly stipend is barely worth it?"

But now?

Maybe it was time to start putting in some effort.

Danzo's voice interrupted his thoughts.

"As for Kabuto—I'll let it slide this time. He contributed to this mission as well."

Haruta nodded but remained silent.

"But remember—Root follows its own rules.Don't forget that."

"Understood, Lord Danzo."

Danzo's expression darkened slightly.

The situation with 'A' was still giving him a headache.

Finally, he waved his hand dismissively.

"You're dismissed. Kabuto should be back by now—go meet him. I'm assigning you to handle the next phase of negotiations with Sunagakure."

Haruta's lips twitched.

He had expected this.

Danzo's disastrous defeat in the Land of Rain had cost him his elite Root operatives.

He had barely escaped Nagato's wrath alive.

Right now, Danzo wouldn't dare leave Konoha again—not until he had rebuilt his forces.

It wasn't until he finally became the "5.5th Hokage" that he found the courage to move freely.

And even then...

"The late king's grand vision was left unfulfilled, and he perished in the stable like a mere beast."

Haruta smirked as he walked out of Root Headquarters.

He found a shaded spot outside and sat down to wait for Kabuto—

—while also examining his rewards.

---

"Another 5 free points… I'm rolling in it!"

It wasn't often that he got 2 or 3 points per mission.

But 5 or 6 points at once?

That was unheard of.

He had to think carefully about his next upgrades.

"Let's push Yang Release to Lv2. The rest will go into chakra reserves."

Yang Release had already proven itself invaluable.

And much like his other stats, it seemed to have inherited his monstrous growth rate.

"Yin Release boosts ninjutsu. Yang Release boosts taijutsu. This system is really leaning into my physical prowess."

While he had considered upgrading everything evenly, he simply didn't have enough points for that.

If he had to prioritize, then…

"Without a strong body, I can't properly wield these powers anyway."

---

[Haruta]

Overall Physical Ability: Lv7

Chakra Reserves: Lv7

Abilities:

Cursed Seal Lv3

Yin Release Lv3

Yang Release Lv2

(Additional abilities omitted…)

Remaining Free Points: 0

---

Haruta clenched his fist, feeling the surging power within him.

"I'm officially at Elite Jōnin level now."

While his ninjutsu wasn't top-tier, his physical stats alone were overwhelming.

And once combined with his various multipliers…

His actual combat strength far exceeded his rank.

As for Danzo's Wind Release…

"So I can instantly master Danzo's Wind Release techniques at jōnin level?"

Haruta chuckled.

It functioned similarly to Ninja World Scholar, but with a narrower focus.

"Still… not bad. Scorch Release requires Wind Release as a component anyway. If I improve my Fire Release next, I might be able to unlock it."

The trip to the Land of Wind had exposed a weakness in his combat style.

Under certain conditions, his offensive options were too limited.

Especially when it came to Water Release.

It was nearly useless in the desert.

With Wind Release, he now had a counterbalance.

His overall combat versatility would increase significantly.

"Once my abilities are fully optimized, I'll focus entirely on my physical development."

"I want to see just how far I can push this body."

Haruta's potential had no upper limit.

That was a system-defined rule.

But what he wanted to know was—

How far could he take it?

What made Asura Ōtsutsuki so powerful?

It wasn't just his chakra.

It was his overwhelmingly durable body and Yang Release abilities.

Compared to Indra's Sharingan, Asura's strength suited Haruta's growth path far better.

Even without inheriting Asura's chakra, he could still achieve something similar—

—through sheer physical evolution.

"Move over, Naruto. I'm becoming the next Asura!"

Haruta grinned, clenching his fists.

At that moment, he spotted someone approaching—

Kabuto, now dressed in Konoha's standard uniform.

"Time to get to work."
