Chapter 44: CH 44: KISAME
The atmosphere inside the auction house buzzed with anticipation as the event officially began. Spotlights illuminated the grand stage as the auctioneer, a slick-looking man in an overly decorated suit, stepped forward.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to tonight's exclusive auction, hosted under the name of the great Donquixote family" The crowd erupted in cheers, some clapping, others simply smirking as they eyed the treasures set to be sold.
Yuji leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. Hancock sat beside him, an unimpressed expression on her face. Bepo, meanwhile, was nervously fidgeting. "Uh, Captain… this place feels weird."
"It's an auction, Bepo. A place where people with too much money throw it around," Law muttered, eyeing the stage.
Hancock scoffed. "How disgusting. Selling people and treasures as if they own the world."
Yuji smirked. "Well, let's see if there's anything useful for us."
The auctioneer clapped his hands, signaling the start. "First item! A rare sword crafted by a now-extinct Wano blacksmith!"
The bidding started, voices rising with excitement. The blade was eventually sold for a hefty sum.
"Next! A treasure map said to lead to a dead pirate's fortune!"
Again, wealthy individuals fought over the price, each desperate to claim the unknown riches.
Yuji yawned. "Boring."
Then came the fourth item—a rare fishmsn in a reinforced cage. He was a tall, blue-skinned shark-like man, covered in bruises, his wrists shackled in seastone cuffs.
One noble stood up, his face filled with greed. "I'll take him! 100 million berries!"
Another noble scoffed. "120 million!"
The room erupted into a bidding war, each noble eager to buy the fishman.
Yuji, however, was focused on something else. His golden eyes flickered toward a small ornate chest being carried onto the stage. The auctioneer smirked.
"And now… our final item of the night… a Devil fruit"
A collective gasp spread through the room. The chest opened, revealing a strange fruit with deep black scales, shaped like a coiled serpent.
"An unknown zoan type devil fruit Who knows what kind of monstrous power it holds?"
The moment the Devil Fruit appeared, chaos broke out.
A pirate in the crowd suddenly leaped onto his chair, brandishing a gun. "THE DEVIL FRUIT IS OURS!"
Gunshots rang through the auction house as more pirates stormed the hall, drawing their weapons and attacking anyone nearby.
"They're crazy! They're attacking the Donquixote Family!"
"They're the Jakky Pirates!" someone screamed. "Their captain, Jakky, has a 130 million bounty"
Panic spread like wildfire. Nobles ran for cover. Pirates clashed, fighting to steal the auctioned goods.
Amidst the chaos, a deep, mocking laugh echoed
"UHAHAHAHA! You really think you can cause trouble in my presence?"
Law's entire body stiffened at that voice. His usual smirk vanished, replaced by pure seething hatred
Without thinking, he whispered, "Diamante"
Hancock and Bepo turned to him.
"Who?" Hancock asked.
Law didn't answer. His hands clenched into fists, his nails digging into his palms.
Yuji noticed and smirked. "Looks like this is personal for you, huh?"
Law didn't reply, his gaze locked onto the stage.
Yuji stood, stretching his arms. "Alright. Since everything's already a mess, let's take what we need."
Hancock raised an eyebrow. "And what exactly are we stealing?"
"The devil fruit , the Adam wood, and anything else valuable. We need supplies to build our own ship."
Hancock smirked. "Fine. I'll handle the fruit."
Bepo hesitated. "Uhm… what about the fishman?" He pointed at the bruised prisoner in the cage.
Hancock flicked her hair back. "Who cares about that man?"
Yuji grinned. "I'll take care of that."
Law took a deep breath before vanishing into the chaos. He made a straight dash for Diamante but before he could reach him, several men blocked his path.
"Haha, you think you can touch Lord Diamante?" one of them sneered.
Law clicked his tongue. "Room"
A blue sphere of energy expanded around him.
"Shambles"
In an instant, the man's head swapped places with a chair. He screamed in confusion as his body stumbled forward.
Law's eyes burned with fury. "Get out of my way."
Yuji walked up to the beaten fishman, who barely lifted his head.
"Yo," Yuji greeted casually.
The fishman coughed. "What… do you want?"
"I can help you," Yuji said simply.
The fishman let out a bitter laugh. "Help me? There's no such thing as free help."
Yuji smirked. "True. That's why I'll ask you to join my crew in return."
The fishman's eyes narrowed. "A pirate crew?"
"Yeah. I'll even help you get revenge on whoever did this to you."
The fishman studied him. "And you really have the power to do that?"
Yuji didn't answer right away. Instead, he took a step forward, releasing a crushing aura that made the air around them tremble.
The fishman's breath hitched. He could feel it this man wasn't ordinary.
Yuji grinned. "So? You in?"
The fishman hesitated, then smirked back. "I don't have much left to lose. I'll take the gamble."
Yuji grabbed the bars of the cage and *CRACK* tore them apart with his bare hands.
"I'm Yuji."
The fishman stretched his sore muscles. "Kisame"
Yuji smirked. "Welcome to the crew."
As the fighting raged on, Hancock retrieved the devil fruit, while Law cut down Diamante's men, getting closer to his target.
Yuji stood beside Kisame, watching the chaos.
"Well," he said with a grin. "This is turning out to be fun."
