Chapter 179: 179 Monet

That night.

Lynch suddenly rolled out of bed and appeared on the roof.

The dark night was as clear as day to his sharp eyes. He saw a small green-furred mouse sneaking through the rooms below.

"Sir, you're awake," Mark said, appearing behind Lynch and kneeling on one knee.

"It seems tonight's little mouse isn't being honest," Lynch remarked, his tone cold.

"Pull back your team. I'll handle this myself."

Mark hesitated for a moment before bowing his head. "Understood, sir."

After half an hour of searching, Monet transformed into snowflakes and slipped through a small crack in the door, entering a room heavily guarded by sentries.

Her mood lifted when she saw the space filled with books and work supplies.

"Perfect! This must be his study," she whispered to herself. "Let's see where he hides all his secrets."

With guards stationed outside, Monet didn't dare make a sound. Under the cover of night, she crouched low and carefully searched through the cabinets and shelves, her movements cautious and deliberate.

"Looking for this?"

A deep voice broke the silence as a large hand extended a stack of documents toward her.

"Thank you," Monet replied instinctively, taking the papers—only to realize something was off.

Her instincts kicked in, and like a startled kitten with puffed-up fur, she lashed out with her clawed foot at the shadowy figure.

Smack!

Lynch effortlessly caught her bird-like claw in one hand.

"Miss Monet," he said calmly, his grip firm. "Stealing late at night is a bad habit."

His tone turned sharp. "Did Doflamingo send you to do this?"

"It's... Lynch!" Monet stammered, a shiver running through her as an icy chill seemed to seep into her body, spreading goosebumps over her skin.

Monet didn't have time to wonder how Lynch knew she was working for the Young Master. At this moment, only one thought consumed her mind: Run! Run now!

She tried to transform into her elemental form to escape, but Lynch's hand, coated in Armament Haki, seized her with ease and forced her back into her solid form.

"What?!" she gasped in shock.

"Miss Monet," Lynch said with a calm smile, "did I say you could leave?"

Without hesitation, he grabbed her by the ankle and, like a windmill, swung her before slamming her down onto the solid wooden floor with a resounding crash.

"Who is it!"

"Don't move, raise your hands quickly!"

The loud noise in the room attracted the attention of the guards outside, who rushed in wearing two pairs of exoskeleton armors.

"it's me."

"Your Majesty the Emperor!"

Seeing Lynch and then noticing Monet who was unconscious on the ground, the guards seemed to understand something and blamed themselves in panic:

"We failed in our duties and let a thief infiltrate such an important place. Please punish us!"

"I don't blame you," Lynch said, his tone calm. "Stopping a Logia's elementalization is beyond your abilities."

His reassuring words only deepened the guilt of the two guards.

"If His Majesty hadn't been here tonight, the country could have suffered immeasurable losses," one of them said, bowing even lower.

"Please, Your Majesty, punish us. Otherwise... I fear we won't be able to convince the others."

These palace guards were among the most loyal, with unwavering dedication to Lynch. He knew that if he didn't impose some form of punishment, they'd likely spend the night consumed by guilt.

"You are right, let me think about how to punish you."

Lynch said, watching as the two guards stood nervously in place.

"Let's do this. I'll cut you one month's salary."

"Thank you, Your Majesty, for the punishment!" the guards exclaimed, their voices filled with emotion.

"Your Majesty's grace!"

They knelt, visibly relieved as the weight of their guilt lifted.

Was a month's salary a severe punishment?

Not at all—it was barely a slap on the wrist. That's why the guards felt so overwhelmingly grateful. Well, except for Kizaru, of course.

Your Majesty, you are truly a holy king who cherishes his soldiers like his own children

"Alright, get up," Lynch replied, waving them off before pointing at the unconscious Monet on the ground.

"Take this woman, bind her with seastone cuffs, and deliver her to my room."

"Yes, Your Majesty!"

Monet was securely restrained and thrown onto the floor. Sparks of electricity crackled at Lynch's fingertips, causing the figure on the ground to flinch.

"Stop pretending. I know you're awake," Lynch said, gripping Monet's smooth, flawless face and lifting her up effortlessly.

"Now, tell me—what orders did Doflamingo give you?"

Realizing the charade was over, Monet opened her striking golden eyes and glared fiercely at Lynch. Her voice came out slurred as she struggled to speak through his firm grip:

"Don't bother asking, Lynch. I'll never betray the Young Master!"

"Okay, okay." Lynch laughed angrily, being a spy and a thief can still be so confident.

"A traitorous female devil like you..."

Monet couldn't understand what Lynch was talking about, but he also vaguely felt that something was wrong. His fierce eyes seemed a little... guilty?

"Luckily for you, I won't do such a perverted thing." Lynch stretched out his hand towards Monet,

"Now, where's the Den-Den Mushi you use to contact Doflamingo? Take it out, and I'll tell him myself."

Monet hesitated, realizing that was probably her only option. But as she reached for the Den-Den Mushi, a sudden thought made her face flush with embarrassment.

"Alright, but you'll need to untie me first before I can get it," Monet said, cautiously.

"Fine, but don't try any tricks," Lynch warned, picking up the fruit knife from the table and cutting off the seastone cuffs.

"Can you turn your head?" Monet asked, embarrassed.

"No. If you don't give it to me, I'll search for it myself," Lynch replied, curious about where Monet could be hiding such a large Den-Den Mushi.

Monet turned her head, her face flushed with embarrassment, two pink spots appearing on her cheeks.

Lynch's eyes widened in surprise.

What did he just see?

Monet reached in and pulled out a Den Den Mushi that smelled delicious.

Is it some kind of extra-dimensional pocket, like Tom's?

Still in shock, Lynch watched as Monet handed over the fragrant Den-Den Mushi. But something seemed off. The Den-Den Mushi didn't look quite right. Could it be affected by the incense?

"Take the Den Den Mushi you want."

"Hey, what's wrong with your Den-Den Mushi? Is it dead?"

"Sorry, it passed away a few months ago. There were no vegetables for it to eat in the sea," Monet explained quickly. "But I believe you can save it, right?"

Lynch couldn't help but feel a bit exasperated. No matter how powerful he was, he couldn't bring something back to life.

He couldn't help but laugh at Monet's confidence in him. Fortunately, the team that brought gifts from Doflamingo was still staying at the hotel in the Imperial Capital and hadn't left.

Lynch explained his purpose and used their Den Den Mushi to dial Doflamingo's number.

When the Den-Den Mushi transformed into a pair of sunglasses with an expression that didn't need any extra attention, Lynch knew the call had connected.

The infamous Heavenly Yaksha seemed to have a special respect for Lynch.

"Fufufufufu~ It truly makes me happy that Mr. Lynch is calling me."
