Chapter 30: Cabaji

Cabaji, the Chief of Staff of the Buggy Pirates, famously known as “The Acrobat,” was a mean-spirited swordsman whose style was as flashy as it was deadly. Riding a unicycle, he executed acrobatic swordplay that was more spectacle than fight. The moment Cabaji made his appearance, the live broadcast chat room buzzed with excitement. Taunts, jokes, and comments began flying across the screen, and with Ren’s cool, borderline mocking demeanor, the scene quickly hit a boiling point.

“Haha, Cabaji, the navy boy wants to see your unicycle performance! Everyone’s in a good mood tonight, how about a little show?” A round pirate seated next to Ren laughed, slapping his hand on the table with a grin.

“Yes, yes, Cabaji!” others chimed in, their voices raised over the ruckus. “I haven’t seen you perform in ages! How about you do it with Richie?” Their laughter grew even louder as they motioned toward a massive lion currently preoccupied with jumping through a flaming ring nearby.

“Shut up!” Cabaji snarled, his patience already thin. The idea of performing acrobatics—especially with Richie, that “stinky lion”—for some random navy soldier was infuriating. Was he, the Chief of Staff of the Buggy Pirates, not feared and respected? The nerve! After glaring at his crewmates, Cabaji shifted his gaze to Ren, teeth bared in an angry sneer. “Do you even know who I am, boy?”

Ren smiled coolly, giving an innocent nod. “Of course! You’re the Acrobat, Cabaji, Chief of Staff of the Buggy Pirates.”

Hearing this, Cabaji’s eyes gleamed with malice. “You recognize me, yet you still dare speak so carelessly? Are you looking to die, boy?”

“No,” Ren answered, his tone laced with a teasing edge, “I just thought it’d be fun to see your famous performance.”

The chat exploded with laughter, mockery, and disbelief. Watching Cabaji’s face contort with anger was pure entertainment, and Ren’s relaxed demeanor had them thoroughly hooked.

“Haha, Cabaji, guess your reputation doesn’t carry much weight! Looks like to the navy, you’re nothing more than a second-rate acrobat!” one pirate teased, causing the others to roar with laughter.

“Enough!” Cabaji snapped, turning his fierce gaze on Ren once more. His anger bubbled over as he sneered, “You want a performance? Fine. Just remember, my kind of performance comes with blood. Are you sure you still want to watch?”

“Oh, definitely,” Ren said, setting his half-eaten fruit aside and picking up a nearby wooden stick, easily two meters long and as thick as his arm. With a calm confidence, he walked forward, ready to face Cabaji.

Cabaji’s patience was at its limit. Without another word, he grabbed his long sword, his expression turning deadly as he advanced. The other pirates watched with wicked grins, jeering and cheering as the confrontation escalated.

“Haha! Look at that, Cabaji! The kid is challenging you with a stick. He doesn’t even consider you a threat!”

“Cabaji, if this navy brat beats you, you might as well hand over your rank to someone else!” another pirate added with a mocking smirk.

Unfazed by the taunts, Cabaji continued to advance, spinning his sword with a flourish. He ignored their jibes, preferring to focus solely on Ren. Then, with a dramatic leap, he charged forward, intending to end this quickly.

“Oh, Cabaji, Cabaji!” The crowd’s chants grew louder, filling the tavern with excitement. Cabaji’s charging movement was full of flair, with sweeping gestures designed to impress. But Ren narrowed his eyes, watching the theatrics with a slight smirk.

At the perfect moment, Ren swung his heavy wooden stick, catching Cabaji off guard with its sheer force.

Bang!

The impact was brutal. Cabaji was launched backward, flying through the air before slamming into a group of pirates, effectively silencing their cheers. Their shock was palpable, with some even rubbing their eyes in disbelief.

“No way… that didn’t just happen!” The fat man who had been heckling Ren earlier slapped his own face, convinced he must be seeing things.

One of Cabaji’s crewmates rushed forward, “Cabaji! Are you alright?”

“Get lost!” Cabaji barked, leaping to his feet and shoving his comrade aside with a swift kick. Seething with rage, he raised his sword and stormed toward Ren. This time, his approach was faster, and his movements carried a deadly seriousness, devoid of his usual theatrical flourishes.

The crowd once again erupted into cheers, their voices deafening as they rooted for Cabaji.

Fueled by his comrades’ encouragement, Cabaji dashed forward, putting every ounce of his strength into his assault. But once again, Ren’s well-timed sweep intercepted Cabaji’s charge, sending him sprawling for a second time. This time, the blow not only knocked him back but also sent a few unlucky pirates tumbling.

The tavern fell silent. The pirates who had been taunting Ren were now wide-eyed with disbelief, unable to comprehend that their Chief of Staff had been bested twice by a navy kid wielding a mere stick.

Cabaji staggered to his feet once more, this time keeping his distance. His intense gaze fixed on Ren, who was still standing there, calm and collected. The evening breeze rustled through Ren’s hair, and he stood with an almost heroic air, stick in hand and a playful smile on his lips.

“What? Are you finally going to show me something impressive?” Ren asked, amusement glinting in his eyes.

Cabaji, ignoring the taunt, adopted a thoughtful expression, his eyes narrowing. “What’s your name, navy boy?”

“Ren.”

“Ren, is it?” Cabaji murmured, adjusting his grip on his sword. “There are no nameless ghosts under my blade, Ren. Since you’ve told me your name, prepare yourself for a magnificent death!”

Cabaji then moved to the side, leaping into the air with a flourish. In an instant, he landed back in the crowd, now balanced atop his signature unicycle. The other pirates erupted into wild cheers, convinced this was the true Cabaji, ready to perform his finest acrobatic techniques.

“Kill him, Cabaji! Show him the true power of the acrobat!” they chanted, voices rising in feverish anticipation.

Ren, however, simply chuckled, casting a quick glance at the live broadcast interface, which was filled with astonished comments and a flood of messages.

“Woah, this is intense! Is that really Cabaji? Looks so real!”

“Forget cosplay, this is next-level immersion!”

Cabaji’s performance had indeed elevated the excitement in the live chat, with onlookers genuinely questioning if Ren had somehow stepped into the world of pirates. As the rewards poured in, the haters had grown noticeably quiet, unable to deny the thrill of the moment.

“You think that’s cool?” Ren mocked, feigning awe. “Let’s see if you can keep up with me.”

“Laugh while you can, boy!” Cabaji sneered. With a quick flick of his fingers, he unleashed a storm of spinning tops, each whirring toward Ren with deadly precision.

“Acrobatics: Kamikaze Hundred Gyro Theater!”

The crowd gasped as the spinning tops cut through the air, creating an impressive spectacle. Cabaji followed up with his next move, “Acrobatics: Mountain Climbing!” With a skilled leap, he pedaled his unicycle up the tavern wall, reaching a height that gave him a perfect vantage point over Ren.

As he soared, he prepared his ultimate attack, his voice booming over the crowd: “Acrobatics: Wheel Nirvana!” Cabaji’s sword was poised as he spun through the air, his unicycle spinning in sync beneath him.

“Cabaji! Cabaji!” The pirates cheered madly, thrilled by his succession of attacks. The four acrobatic moves blended seamlessly, and in that instant, Cabaji looked like a true showman, intent on reclaiming his pride.
