Chapter 249: Chapter 249
Luffy picked up a glass and poured himself a drink. Raising it high, he announced with a grin:
"Although some of you may already know each other, let me officially introduce our two new guests aboard. First, we have Yamato, the son of Kaido, who is still a prisoner for now. Second, we have Gion, the candidate admiral of the Marine and the number one female officer in our ranks. Let us raise our glasses to welcome these two new family members. Cheers!"
The women poured their drinks and raised their glasses, mirroring Luffy's enthusiasm. But just as they were about to toast, a few of them caught on to something odd.
"Wait a second…" Ain's voice broke through the cheer. She lowered her glass and looked at Luffy in confusion. "Family? Aren't they just guests? How did they become family?"
Her gaze shifted to Yamato, who seemed blissfully unaware, happily grinning at everyone. Meanwhile, Gion sat elegantly, her calm demeanor betraying none of the surprise she must have felt when hearing the term.
The rest of the group shared Ain's confusion, their eyes darting between Yamato and Gion. Only Kujaku seemed unperturbed, her sly grin giving away her understanding. Hehe, she thought, not only did I bring Sister Gion into the fold, but Yamato as well. Today's definitely my lucky day.
Luffy, ignoring their reactions, drained his glass in one gulp and continued speaking. His tone turned serious, and the room quieted as everyone focused on him.
"Although I was severely injured by Kaido during this incident, I can't retaliate right away. With our current strength, it's simply not possible. For now, revenge against Kaido will have to wait. But don't forget that the war with Kaido wasn't where it all started."
Luffy's voice hardened. "It started with a certain bastard pulling the strings."
"Doflamingo, the clown," Hancock spat, her tone venomous.
"That's right," Luffy confirmed. "That bastard held a grudge after my grandfather and I humiliated him at Marine Headquarters. To get back at me, he allied with Jack, one of Kaido's top commanders. What followed was a chain of events that brought us here today."
Luffy slammed his hand on the table, his anger palpable. "Tomorrow, we're going to Dressrosa to deal with that clown. He dared to plot against me—against us. He thinks he's still some untouchable Celestial Dragon? No. He's nothing but a stray dog abandoned by the government. I want to see if the blood of a so-called descendant of the God is any different from ours!"
The room erupted with reactions.
"Wait, what?!" Gion's calm façade shattered as her eyes widened in shock. "You… You're a rear admiral! Do you realize what you just said? If the World Government or the Five Elders hear this…" Her voice trailed off, unable to comprehend his boldness.
Meanwhile, Hancock and Koala were fuming for a completely different reason.
"What?! That bastard clown is a Celestial Dragon?!" Hancock hissed, her eyes blazing with rage.
"Damn it! What are we waiting for? Let's kill him right now!" Koala shouted, her fists clenched tightly.
The rest of the crew quickly joined in, their voices overlapping as they voiced their support for taking down Doflamingo. Only Ain, Hina, and Kujaku remained calm, knowing more about the situation than the others.
When the room reached its peak of chaos, Hina spoke up, her voice cutting through the noise. "It's too late now. According to the latest intelligence, Doflamingo has already packed up and fled the New World. He's likely running to the North Blue, where he originally built his empire."
Luffy froze for a moment, digesting the news. Then, his anger reignited. "That bastard! He's running scared now? Why didn't he think of this day when he plotted against me?! I don't care where he goes—North Blue, the ends of the earth—I'll find him and make him pay!"
Turning to Ain, he added, "Keep an eye on the news from headquarters. After I take over Wano Country, I'll deal with him."
Ain nodded, her expression resolute.
"Wait, wait, wait!" Yamato suddenly interjected, her eyes wide with disbelief. "You're taking over Wano Country?! What do you mean by that? Are you planning to become the general?"
Luffy smirked. "I have no interest in being Wano's general. In fact, there won't be a general in Wano Country anymore."
"What?!" Yamato's jaw dropped, her shock evident. "No general?! But that's… that's what I was going to be! How can you get rid of such an important position?!"
