Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Horse-Horse Fruit Pegasus Form

Inside the treasure vault of the ancient ship lay a white, banana-shaped fruit adorned with delicate feather patterns. Asa took one glance and immediately lost interest.

"Banana-shaped fruits are usually Zoan types," he muttered. "Not worth my time unless it's a Mythical Zoan, which is rarer than even Logia types."

He didn't think his luck would stretch so far as to yield both the Thunder Fruit and a Mythical Zoan on the same day.

"I've taken Enel's opportunity, so I'll consider this fruit a form of compensation," Asa thought, stroking his chin. Despite his ruthless tendencies, he felt oddly generous today.

Asa's mood dictated his decisions, and with the Thunder Fruit now in his possession, he was in an excellent mood. His actions were growing more spontaneous, and his confidence swelled.

He had begun to embrace a life of doing as he pleased—a carefree, decisive attitude that would one day lead to the awakening of his Conqueror's Haki.

Born into the Xibolai family and carrying the middle initial "D," Asa's destiny marked him as a natural enemy of the gods. He felt assured that his future would be extraordinary. All he needed was the courage to push forward, and greatness would be within reach.

Tucking the white fruit into his bag, Asa leapt out of the sinking ship. The ancient vessel, battered and decayed, was finally being consumed by the White Sea.

Suspending himself in mid-air with the power of the Thunder Fruit, Asa watched solemnly as the ship vanished beneath the waves. It had been the stage where he gained a power that would forever alter his fate.

Returning to his Waver, Asa reflected on his year of struggles. All the hardships, the planning, and the risks had culminated in this moment of triumph.

"The next step is to retrieve the design plans for the Ark Maxim from Birka," he mused. "With no formidable warriors on the island, no one can stop me."

He smirked. "Giving Enel this Zoan fruit is more than fair. He should be grateful. What more could he ask for?"

Asa's thoughts wandered as he sped toward Birka.

"After getting the Ark plans, should I focus on developing my powers, or head directly to Upper Yard to claim it? There's so much gold there, and it won't escape on its own. I'll train first. Strength is the foundation of everything."

He knew that even with the Thunder Fruit's elemental abilities, carelessness would spell disaster. Maintaining an elemental form consumed stamina, and his enemies would only grow stronger.

Remembering Ace's overconfidence in his youth—a mistake that nearly cost him his life—Asa resolved not to make the same error.

The journey back to Birka was swift. By noon, the island was within sight.

Asa leapt into the air, transforming into a bolt of lightning. Flying had become instinctive, and he reveled in the newfound ability.

Descending at the doorstep of Enel's house, Asa entered quietly.

The streets were quiet, with most residents indoors preparing lunch. Enel was no exception, busy in his kitchen with a meager meal. Asa watched from the shadows, his presence unnoticed.

He pulled out the white Devil Fruit and slipped it into a basket of apples near Enel. The boy loved apples and would likely eat the fruit soon.

Hiding behind the door, Asa waited. He was curious to see the fruit's effects.

Enel finished his meal, belched, and reached for the basket. He ignored the apples and picked up the unfamiliar banana-shaped fruit instead.

"What's this? A banana?" he muttered, eyeing it curiously.

He peeled the fruit, revealing its patterned interior. The odd design put him off, but wasting food wasn't an option. With some reluctance, he took a bite.

Seconds later, Enel was retching violently.

Asa smirked. "As expected, no living thing can handle the taste of a Devil Fruit."

When the ordeal subsided, something remarkable happened.

The back of Enel's shirt began to bulge.

Rip!

A pair of pristine white wings burst through the fabric, larger than any Asa had seen on a Sky Islander.

"An animal-type Mythical Zoan? Human-Human Fruit, Angel Form?" Asa whispered, stunned.

If it truly was a Mythical Zoan, he wouldn't have given it away so easily. Such a treasure should have been his to claim.

But the transformation wasn't over.

Enel's earlobes shrank and transformed into horse-like ears. His face elongated, and his limbs began to morph into hooves. Within moments, Enel had taken on the form of a Pegasus—a creature of legend.

Asa stared in disbelief.

"This isn't the Angel Form. It's Gan Fall's mount—the Horse-Horse Fruit, Pegasus Form!"

He was taken aback. The fruit was destined for Gan Fall's Sky Point Bird, but fate had placed it in Enel's hands instead.

The transformation was brief. Enel, malnourished and lacking stamina, reverted to his human form after a minute, collapsing from exhaustion.

Asa stepped away, shaking his head.

"There are only two Devil Fruits on Sky Island—mine and this one. Gan Fall's bird hadn't eaten it yet, so I just happened to find it."

He glanced back at the boy, now lying unconscious on the floor. "I wonder how this will change your fate, Enel."

With a wry smile, Asa left quietly, disappearing into the streets.
