Chapter 471: A Large Number of Hearts of the Continent, Meeting Elsa
"He's incredibly strong. Is this kid really at the Nine-Star level?" One person, seeing John and DemonEmperor fighting evenly, was shocked.
"Hmph, no wonder he's so arrogant. Turns out he has some real strength."
Several others looked at John with unfriendly expressions, still not taking him seriously.
"Damn it!" DemonEmperor roared, his murderous intent spreading.
The last time, this human had withstood his strike but was gravely injured, almost being killed.
Yet, only a few days had passed, and John was already able to block his attacks, nearly matching him in strength.
This human was terrifying. If he continued to grow, he would undoubtedly become a major threat.
"Kid, let's see just how strong you really are!" DemonEmperor's powerful energy surged as he took action without holding back, vowing to kill John.
"Stop!" At that moment, Overlord shouted angrily, interrupting DemonEmperor.
"It seems I underestimated you," he said flatly, clearly surprised by John's strength.
John, however, remained calm. While it had seemed like he was evenly matched with DemonEmperor, he was already injured from the battle.
Emperors, being blessed by the laws of The Heaven, had special powers that John couldn't hope to withstand.
Overlord spoke again: "Kid, your demands are too excessive. How about this: we each take a step back, and I'll give you half of the Hearts of the Continent."
John frowned, about to speak, but Overlord continued: "This is my greatest concession. You should know, you're not the only strong one to come from the Initial World."
His words already carried an implied threat.
John was unwilling in his heart, but he knew that if Overlord harmed anyone close to him, there was nothing he could do.
"Fine," he said reluctantly, "I'll agree to your demands, but you have to give me the Hearts of the Continent now."

Overlord glanced at him, then casually waved his hand. A pile of jade stones appeared—each one a Heart of the Continent, with a total of 50,000 of them.
However, none of these were complete Hearts of the Continent.
John wasn't concerned about that. His goal was to increase his Overseer level, so ordinary Hearts of the Continent would be enough.
Leading the way, Overlord and the other Emperor-level experts, though dissatisfied, didn't dare to defy him. They brought out large amounts of the Hearts of the Continent.
He had received over 200,000 Hearts of the Continent from the twenty-two Emperor-level experts, not including the Hearts from the Three Phoenixes.
John trusted the three of them and was confident they would not become his enemies. Besides, he wasn't afraid of them.
With so many Hearts of the Continent, he was certain he could elevate his Overseer cultivation to the Eight-Star level, or even the Nine-Star level.
"Kid, let me give you a piece of advice: a common man is innocent, but possessing jade is a crime!" DemonEmperor stared at him, speaking coldly.
So many Hearts of the Continent were enough to stir their desires.
"Are you threatening me?" John smiled slightly and then looked at Overlord, saying, "Lord Overlord, I have one more request: this time, I don't want DemonEmperor to join the operation."
"You!" DemonEmperor's eyes widened, staring angrily at John. He had not expected such a treacherous move.
"Enough," Overlord coldly interrupted the two of them, shifting the topic. "Let's discuss the details of this operation."
He suspected that the sudden arrival of The Heaven Divine Stele had something to do with a scheme from the Church of Light, but they had no concrete information. They were discussing the possible situations that could arise and the countermeasures to prevent them.
John wasn't interested in any of this and couldn't contribute, so he merely watched them passionately discuss their plans.
Half an hour later, the plan was finalized.
During the process of comprehending The Heaven Divine Stele, the Church of Light and the Celestial Vault would be unable to interfere. If they had any schemes, the others would have to exert their full strength to hold them off and buy Overlord enough time to break the Realm of Chaos' shackles and escape.
"The operation will commence in three days. Everyone, go and prepare," Overlord said, giving John a glance before leaving with a flick of his sleeve.
The Heaven Divine Stele would descend in ten days, and they were worried that the Church of Light and the Celestial Vault might play some tricks, so they decided to move ahead of schedule.
Everyone dispersed, each finding a place within Overlord's World-in-Hand to enter seclusion and meditate.
John also decided to use the three days to refine as many Hearts of the Continent as possible, aiming to improve his Overseer cultivation and gain a deeper understanding of Overlord's World-in-Hand.
...
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
John had refined over 10,000 Hearts of the Continent, but his Overseer cultivation only reached the late stage of Six Stars.
His four basic attributes had each increased by over twenty million points, but his overall strength hadn't grown significantly.
However, there were noticeable changes in his World-in-Hand, though these did not significantly impact his combat power.
"Do I need to raise my Overseer cultivation to Eight Stars?" he wondered inwardly.
The Three Phoenixes had mentioned before that Overlord's immense strength was closely tied to his World-in-Hand.
John had been in seclusion these past few days, carefully attempting to comprehend the World-in-Hand, but an invisible force had emerged, preventing his investigation.
He had asked Heavenly King, who had encountered the same issue.
Clearly, Overlord's World-in-Hand held secrets, and it seemed to be actively guarding against both him and Heavenly King.
"It seems there's no time left for deeper comprehension," John sighed helplessly. Several Emperor-level experts, along with the Nine-Star experts who were participating in the divine stele meditation, had already gathered—there were over a hundred thousand of them.
If everything went according to plan, they would escape to the Initial World.
John didn't trust these people, but he wasn't worried. With so many Hearts of the Continent in his possession, he could always hide within the World-in-Hand to level up, and once his cultivation improved, he could come out and deal with them.
"I have a bad feeling about this meditation with The Heaven Divine Stele," Nine Phoenix whispered.
For the past three days, her mind had been unsettled, unable to focus on her cultivation.
Chaos, on the other hand, dismissed her concerns. "With Overlord here, there's no need to worry about anything going wrong."
Overlord had previously battled Anixegon and the Celestial Vault, crushing them effortlessly. It was only because those two had special cultivation abilities that they had managed to escape in the end.
Chaos believed that even if they had some sort of underhanded plot, it wouldn't be enough to defeat Overlord.
"I hope you're right," Nine Phoenix said, her expression less optimistic. She turned to John and Heavenly King, warning them, "Your strength isn't as great as ours. If something unexpected happens, you two should escape immediately, without worrying about us."
Both of them nodded, but didn't say anything more.
Once everyone had gathered—twenty-three Emperor-level experts and one hundred seventy thousand Nine-Star experts—John was surprised to find so many Nine-Star experts in the Realm of Chaos.
These Nine-Star experts were all subordinates of the Emperors. Ordinary Nine-Star experts, who hadn't allied with the Emperors, weren't even qualified to meditate on The Heaven Divine Stele.
"Everyone's here. Let's go," Overlord said淡淡ly, his voice carrying a sense of finality. A tremendous surge of law-based power rippled around him, and in an instant, a spatial rift was torn open.
He stepped through first, disappearing into the rift.
The others followed closely behind.
John and the others were among the last to step through, entering the rift as well.
Whoosh!
The wind howled, and lightning flashed as they entered a deep spatial passage.
Fortunately, these chaotic spatial currents and lightning attacks posed no threat to the Nine-Star experts.
The group swiftly moved through the passage, taking a full incense stick's worth of time to pass through the spatial rift.
They emerged into an empty, boundless expanse—an isolated Void—where they felt no trace of any power.
John asked in confusion, "Hasn't this place already left the Realm of Chaos?"
Nine Phoenix shook her head and replied, "No, we're still at the edge of the Realm of Chaos. Beyond this is where the seal is located. Over seventy Emperor-level experts once teamed up, but they couldn't break it."
"Seventy Emperor-level experts?" John was surprised. They only had twenty-three Emperor-level experts for this meditation on The Heaven Divine Stele. Did that mean there were other hidden Emperor-level experts who didn't participate in the current meditation?
Chaos lowered his voice to explain, "They've all perished. A long time ago, the Realm of Chaos was far more dangerous than it is now."
His expression became solemn, and he said no more.
"Lord Overlord, we didn't expect you to arrive so early," a voice suddenly rang out. Holy light enveloped the area, and a large number of figures appeared—more than thirty thousand in total. Leading them was none other than Anixegon.
These were members of the Church of Light, all at the Nine-Star level.
"Hmph, you're not the only ones who arrived early," Overlord replied coolly, showing no intention of engaging with Anixegon.
The two groups stood facing each other, both on high alert and wary of the other.
"Master!" Suddenly, a joyful voice rang out in John's mind.
It was Elsa!
He was taken aback and quickly scanned the members of the Church of Light. Sure enough, amidst the crowd, he spotted the petite figure of an angel.
Elsa also saw John. A smile appeared on her face, and she seemed about to approach him, but ultimately, she held herself back.
Her expression returned to normal, and her voice echoed once more in John's mind, "Master, I can't reveal myself yet. This meditation on The Heaven Divine Stele is a plot by the Church of Light. Anixegon has tampered with The Heaven Divine Stele."
"The Heaven Divine Stele has been tampered with?" John asked, shocked, his voice quiet in his mind.
Having signed a slave contract and shared life-force, they were able to communicate mentally, and not even Emperor-level experts could detect this.
Elsa continued, "It seems to involve something called the God-Devouring Curse. I don't know the specifics, but Anixegon is preventing us from comprehending the laws of The Heaven Divine Stele."
"Alright, I understand. Be careful," John urged, then cut off the mental link.
God-Devouring Curse?
He frowned in confusion. He had never heard of such a thing.
He turned to Nine Phoenix and the others, pulling them aside. A thought passed through his mind, and the power of the World-in-Hand enveloped them, isolating the surrounding space.
His actions went unnoticed by the others.
Since The Heaven Divine Stele hadn't descended yet, many people had already isolated themselves, focusing on closed-door meditation.
"John, what's going on?" Chaos asked, looking at him with confusion.
John turned to them and inquired, "What is the God-Devouring Curse?"
"The God-Devouring Curse?" Nine Phoenix and Chaos gasped in surprise. They exchanged a look, both with serious expressions.
Heavenly King, Forest King, and Sword Demon, however, all wore blank expressions—they had no idea what the God-Devouring Curse was.
