Chapter 18: Shock

S.A. Group Headquarters

Lim Cheolho, the head of Satisfy's development team and the CEO of the S.A. Group, sat in his office, surrounded by holographic screens displaying endless streams of data.

The game had over two billion users right now, each one a variable that could influence its delicate ecosystem. Maintaining the system was a monumental task, and Lim Cheolho was determined to ensure that not a single error slipped through.

"I can't allow even a single error," he muttered to himself, his fingers flying across the keyboard as he adjusted the game's parameters.

But his resolve was short-lived.

The supercomputer, Morpheus, whose voice was calm and authoritative, interrupted his work.

[Gilgamesh has found the Northern End Cave. Please authorize the convening of an emergency meeting.]

Lim Cheolho's hands froze mid-air, his sharp eyes narrowing as he processed the information. The Northern End Cave was one of the most carefully guarded secrets in Satisfy, a location tied to the legendary class Pagma's Successor. It was designed to be nearly impossible to find, requiring a combination of skill, luck, and sheer determination.

And yet, Gilgamesh had found it.

Lim Cheolho leaned back in his chair, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Hooh, he is a Miracle indeed."

After the Kaela incident, Lim Cheolho had begun paying special attention to certain players—those who defied expectations and pushed the boundaries of what was possible in Satisfy. Gilgamesh was one of them. His friendly attitude toward NPCs, his rapid rise, his strategic thinking, and his ability to uncover hidden secrets had made him a player of interest.

But this… this was something else entirely.

Without hesitation, Lim Cheolho stood up, his voice firm as he addressed Morpheus. "I give permission. I will go as well."

He immediately stopped his work and made his way to the conference room, his mind racing with possibilities. The discovery of the Northern End Cave by a player like Gilgamesh could have far-reaching consequences for the game. It was a scenario they had anticipated but hadn't expected to happen so soon.

The conference room was already buzzing with activity by the time Lim Cheolho arrived. Members of the development team were gathered around the table, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity. On the large screen at the front of the room, data about Gilgamesh's recent activities was displayed, alongside a map highlighting the Northern End Cave.

"What's the situation?" Lim Cheolho asked as he took his seat at the head of the table.

The head of the operation team, Yoon Nahee, a young woman with sharp features, spoke up. "Gilgamesh has discovered the Northern End Cave. He's already acquired [Pagma's Rare Book] and has become Pagma's Successor. His level has been reset, but his titles and the additional stats reward from his item production remain intact.."

"What!"

"Doesn't he have Title Sword Saint Candidate?!"

"He will have two legendary classes... It's a Sword Saint no less..."

Unlike the rest, Lim Cheolho only nodded, his expression thoughtful. "And how did he find the cave so quickly? The location was designed to be nearly impossible to uncover without significant effort."

One of the developers, a man with glasses, adjusted his tablet. "It seems he had prior knowledge of the cave's general location. He bypassed most of the obstacles and avoided high-level monsters, reaching the cave in just....one day...."

Gasp!

A sharp intake of breath can be heard across the room, Yoon Sangmin, the Director of S.A. Group, can be seen with a shocked expression painted on his face.

''Just one day?!"

The room fell silent, the weight of the revelation sinking in. The discovery of the Northern End Cave and the acquisition of Pagma's Successor were events that could shift the balance of power in Satisfy. But what was even more shocking was the timeline.

According to the analysis from the development team's supercomputer, Morpheus, the Northern End Cave was supposed to be found by users in two years and five months. The appearance of the legendary book, [Pagma's Rare Book], was originally projected to occur seven years and three months later in in-game time.

But Gilgamesh had shattered those expectations.

"This is unprecedented," one of the developers muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. "He's accelerated the timeline by years. What does this mean for the game's balance?"

Lim Cheolho, who had been quietly observing the discussion, leaned forward, his expression calm but his eyes sharp. "It means we're dealing with a player who defies all expectations. Gilgamesh isn't just skilled—he's strategic, resourceful, and, most importantly, unpredictable."

The implications of Gilgamesh's actions were staggering. At a time when fewer than 20 users had achieved their first-class advancement, Gilgamesh had not only surpassed that milestone but had also become the sole legendary class in the game.

"He's now Pagma's Successor," another developer said, pulling up Gilgamesh's updated status on the screen. "His level and stats have been reset, but his titles and certain passive skills remain intact. He's essentially starting over but with a legendary class and a significant advantage."

Yoon Sangmin shook his head, his expression a mix of awe and concern. "This changes everything. If other players follow his lead, the game's progression could spiral out of control."

"Gilgamesh isn't the only one," Lim Cheolho said, his voice calm but filled with intrigue. "There are four other players who have repeatedly caused results that even Morpheus couldn't predict. I've designated them as Miracles."

The room fell silent as the developers processed this information. The term Miracles wasn't used lightly—it was reserved for players who defied the game's design and pushed the boundaries of what was possible, players who repeatedly caused results that even Morpheus could not predict by their actions.

"Gilgamesh is one of them," Lim Cheolho continued. "His actions have already had a significant impact on the game, and I suspect this is just the beginning."

Lim Cheolho wasn't worried at it. In fact, he was excited.

"This is what makes Satisfy unique," he said, a faint smile playing on his lips. "The players are the ones who drive the story forward. And Gilgamesh… he's just getting started."

***

Gilgamesh stood outside the smithy next to his house, his heart still racing with excitement from his transformation into Pagma's Successor. He couldn't wait to tell Kaela about his achievement, to see the look on her face when she realized he had become a legendary blacksmith.

But as he reached for the door, a sudden realization hit him.

"Wait… I sent her to Bairan Village," he muttered, his excitement fading slightly. "She's not here."

For a moment, he considered rushing to Bairan Village to find her. But he quickly dismissed the idea. Kaela was on an important mission, and he didn't want to disrupt her progress. Besides, he had given her the task himself—it wouldn't be fair to pull her away now.

Gilgamesh took a deep breath, his determination returning. If he couldn't boast to Kaela right away, he would find another way to impress her.

"I'll surprise her with my creation," he said to himself, a grin spreading across his face. "She's always the one making amazing weapons and armor. This time, I'll show her what I can do."

With that, he pushed open the door to the smithy and stepped inside. The familiar scent of metal and fire greeted him, but the space felt emptier without Kaela's presence despite there being another blacksmith nearby.

Gilgamesh stood in the smithy, his eyes scanning his inventory as he searched for the perfect item to work on.

After a moment, he found what he was looking for.

"Hmm, what should I make… ah, this one will do," he said, pulling out a sleek, deadly-looking sword.

This was the most recent sword Kaela had created for him. With his level reset, he was no longer able to use Blightfang under normal circumstances. But as Pagma's Successor, he had a unique advantage.

[Due to your class characteristics, you have equipped Blightfang.]

[A penalty is applied because the item conditions aren't met.]

[Attack power of Blightfang will decrease by 10%. Only half of the option effects will be applied.]

[The penalties will be reduced if your understanding of Blightfang increases.]

[Your current understanding of Blightfang is 85%]

"All right, let's start," Gilgamesh said, his voice filled with determination.

He placed Blightfang on top of the anvil and raised his hammer. The other blacksmiths in the smithy paused their work, their eyes widening as they watched him.

Kanggg!

The sound of Gilgamesh's hammer striking the sword echoed through the smithy. The other blacksmiths stared in shock as the blade began to disassemble and shatter under his blows.

"He's finally gone crazy," one of them muttered, his voice filled with disbelief.

"W-what is he doing?!" another exclaimed, his eyes wide with horror.

Of course, they know who Gilgamesh is, because he is regular along with another crazy blonde girl who is also a blacksmith. And they thought something was wrong with them when they began using smithy from sunrise to sunrise. And now they think Gilgamesh finally became crazy and started to destroy his items.

To them, it looked like Gilgamesh was destroying a perfectly good sword—a unique weapon that most players would kill to own. They didn't understand what he was trying to achieve.

But Gilgamesh wasn't destroying the sword. He was using the Legendary Blacksmith's Disassembly skill, a unique ability granted to Pagma's Successor.

The skill allowed him to break down and reassemble items, increasing his understanding of their structure and properties. With enough understanding, he could even learn how to recreate the item himself.

As he worked, notifications flashed before his eyes.

[You have disassembled Blightfang.]

[Your understanding of Blightfang has increased by 5%.]

[Current understanding is 90%.]

Gilgamesh grinned as he continued to hammer away. "Almost there," he muttered. "Just a little more."

As the other blacksmiths watched, they began to realize that Gilgamesh wasn't destroying the sword—he was transforming it. The shattered pieces of Blightfang began to glow, their edges sharpening and their surfaces smoothing out.

"Wait… is he…?" one of the blacksmiths whispered, his voice filled with awe.

"He's not destroying it," another said, his eyes wide with realization. "He's improving it."

The atmosphere in the smithy shifted from shock to admiration. The blacksmiths, who had once thought Gilgamesh was crazy, now watched in silence as he worked, their respect for him growing with every strike of his hammer.

[Your understanding of the Blightfang has increased to 100%.]

Finally, Gilgamesh stepped back, his work complete. The sword before him was no longer just Blightfang—it was something greater. The blade gleamed with a faint green light, its surface covered in intricate patterns that seemed to pulse with energy.

[True Blightfang]

* Increased durability and attack power due to reforging.

[From now on, you can use the True Blightfang without any penalties.]

[The production method of the True Blightfang has been acquired.]

Gilgamesh picked up the sword, his grin widening as he felt its weight and balance. "Now this is a weapon worthy of Pagma's Successor," he said, his voice filled with pride.

"Kaela," he muttered, holding up a newly improved sword, "you'd better be ready. Because when you get back, I'm going to blow your mind."
