Parallel World- an Apocalypse Hero

Chapter 10: Chapter 10- lucky

After Monica completed the discharge procedures for Jonathan, she personally drove her newly bought Lincoln Navigator SUV, taking the now mostly recovered Jonathan back to their luxurious mansion in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.

Among the many villas that Monica and her husband, Jimmy·w·Carter, owned, this was the one they spent the most time in.

The grand, intricately carved marble combined with the brass gates slowly opened under the push of the servants, and Jonathan followed Monica into the luxurious European-style hall.

The dazzling crystal chandelier illuminated the entire hall, making it shine brilliantly with golden splendor.

At that moment, James Carter's younger brother, the ten-year-old Gary Carter, was playing with their eight-year-old sister, Alice Carter, in the living room.

For some reason, Alice suddenly began to cry, looking upset.

Seeing that James had returned unharmed, Gary, who had been sneering at Alice, furrowed his brows and spoke with the rebellious tone typical of a Western boy:

"You didn't die? You're so lucky, huh?"

"Gary! How dare you speak to your brother like that?" Monica snapped, glaring at Gary. Though she was angry, she could only lightly scold him.

Of all three children, she still favored Gary the most. After all, Gary was Jimmy·w·Carter biological son, the only heir to Jimmy's fortune.

James, on the other hand, was the child Monica had before marrying Jimmy, and had no inheritance rights to Jimmy's wealth or anything else.

Jimmy had always held a grudge about her past, even if he never showed it openly. Monica could always feel the underlying hostility and disdain he had for James.

"He's not my brother! He's not even a part of the Carter family!" Gary sneered at James, his eyes filled with venom and disdain.

"Enough!" Jimmy, dressed in a fine Armani custom suit and wearing a black jazz hat, walked in from outside with a grim expression. "Gary, I don't want to hear you speak to your mother like that again!"

With that, Jimmy shot a cold glance at James, his eyes full of disgust. "It's good that you're recovering. Just don't do something so reckless again."

"Yes, Father!" Jonathan respectfully nodded, quietly observing the actions and words of this family. With James's memories in mind, he started formulating a plan.

After all, he was still just a thirteen-year-old boy. Aside from his mother Monica, he had no one to rely on.

Clashing with his stepfather now would do him no good!

" Jonathan! You're finally back!" Alice Carter cheerfully rushed over, looking Jonathan up and down. "Are you okay? Please don't be so reckless next time!"

Alice had perfectly inherited Monica's tall, sexy figure and charming face. Even at such a young age, she already had the potential to be a stunning beauty in the future. Jonathan was certain that when Alice grew up, she would undoubtedly be a captivating woman who could turn heads wherever she went.

"Thank you, Alice. I'm tired. I'm going to rest for a bit." Jonathan gently ruffled Alice's smooth chestnut hair, lowered his head without saying another word, and turned to walk away.

He still had over three hours left, and he didn't want to waste his time on meaningless childish arguments.

After all, Gary was Jimmy's biological son. If he argued with him, he would only end up losing!

Just like that car accident before!

The original James had been too young to understand the ways of the world, but the current Jonathan was a seasoned professional, having spent thirty years navigating the cutthroat workplace in future!

Watching Jonathan slump his way upstairs, Jimmy's expression grew even darker, but a faint smile appeared on his face as he pulled Monica into an embrace. "Darling, Mr. Elon·Beckman, the vice president of Saks Fifth Avenue, has invited us to a gathering tonight. Why don't you and Gary come with me?"

As a Cadillac slowly drove out of the villa, Jonathan gently pulled the curtains shut, hiding himself in the darkness of the room.

He glanced at the clock.

2007-3-15 5:37

There were three hours and three minutes left until he would return to the post-apocalyptic world.

Jonathan closed his eyes lightly, diving into James's memories to search for useful information.

Jimmy, as a media mogul and the owner of Interview magazine and Art and Antiques magazine, was not only incredibly wealthy, but his home also housed a collection of valuable antiques and artworks.

The most crucial piece of information from James's memories, however, was that Jimmy had a hobby of collecting rare and expensive weapons!

This included firearms and bladed weapons!

In other words, Jimmy liked guns and even held a firearm license!

That meant there were likely firearms in his home.

With only three hours left, Jonathan needed to find guns or crossbows, and he also needed to acquire some money to buy a chainsaw!

As for anything else, it could wait. Weapons and resources were his priority right now!

 "Knock knock knock..."

As Jonathan was mentally planning his next steps using James's memories, there was a sudden knock at the door.

"Who is it?"

Jonathan asked coldly.

" Jonathan, it's me, Alice. Mom and Dad and Gary have gone to a party. Do you want to join me for dinner?" came Alice's eager voice from outside the door.

Jonathan frowned slightly. It seemed his half-sister, Alice, was closer to him and had a worse relationship with her biological brother, Gary.

That was actually a good thing, but right now, Jonathan had no intention of wasting time with Alice.

"No, I'm not hungry. Thank you, Alice." Jonathan said in a low voice, pressing his ear against the door.

He listened to Alice's muttered voice as she walked away, gradually fading. Only then did he slowly open the door.

The family lived on the second and third floors. James, Alice, and Gary lived on the second floor, while Jimmy and Monica had separate large bedrooms and bathrooms on the third floor.

The first floor was occupied by security personnel and servants.

According to James's memories, he had only been to the third floor once, and it didn't go well—Jimmy quickly sent him back down.

In contrast, Gary and Alice frequently visited the third floor to play with their parents.

If anyone knew the third floor well, it would be Alice, the youngest and most pampered child.

Jonathan pondered for a moment, but in the end, he dismissed the idea of asking Alice for help.

He crept up the grand marble staircase to the third floor. The first thing he saw was an opulent European-style living room, filled with various works of art, and the floors were made of rich redwood. Jonathan guessed that anything he casually took from here could probably be sold for a fortune.

However, he didn't have time to sell these artworks right now.

What he needed were cash and weapons!

After casually rummaging through the living room, Jonathan went straight into Monica and Jimmy's bedroom.

Normally, people wouldn't keep cash or guns in the living room, so Jonathan's main focus was their bedroom!

It was a luxurious yet cozy, oversized bedroom!

The room was dominated by purple, with pink lighting, giving it a mysterious aura and a subtle sense of desire and impulse.

On the oversized heart-shaped water bed, there were soft, clean silk sheets and a feather duvet. Jonathan couldn't help but imagine how pleasurable it would be to make love on such a bed.

Not dwelling on that thought too long, Jonathan began rummaging through the bedside table and wardrobe.

Inside the wardrobe, aside from numerous expensive brand-name lingerie, there were also various strange and kinky items.

These things would be useless in the post-apocalyptic world, but one particular set of dog leashes and a pair of leather handcuffs caught Jonathan's attention.

As a 30-year-old man, Jonathan naturally knew exactly what these items were for, even though he had never tried them himself. He had seen them in movies before.

 This… might come in handy…

Thinking about Tiffany's proud face, Jonathan imagined the perfect scenario and a slight smirk appeared on his lips. He carefully tucked the leash and handcuffs into his pocket.

Aside from the BDSM set, Jonathan continued searching for a while and finally found a stack of cash, casually left in the corner of the bedside table.

A little over $13,000.

Jonathan carefully took $1,000 and returned the rest of the money to where it had been.

$1,000.

That was enough to buy a good chainsaw!

Taking $1,000 should be undetectable to the wealthy Carter couple.

Leaving the bedroom, Jonathan glanced at the time again.

Half an hour had passed by now.

That left him with just two and a half hours!

"There were no guns in the bedroom... where could they be?" Jonathan carefully approached another door in the hallway.

To his surprise, this door was locked!

Looking at the luxurious steel security door, Jonathan ultimately decided against forcing his way in.

He checked two more rooms, but still, no weapons.

However, in Monica's study, he found an antique Tang knife, stored in a wooden box!

On the blade of the Tang knife, it was engraved with "A gift from Jackie Chan."

The Tang knife wasn't very long—about half a meter—but it was exceptionally sharp, and it felt great in his hand!

Monica had carelessly tossed it in a small cabinet where she kept miscellaneous items, seemingly not caring much about it.

Reluctantly, Jonathan hid the Tang knife in his clothes and quickly hurried downstairs.

Since he hadn't found any firearms in Jimmy's bedroom, his only option was to take a risk with the security personnel!

From James's memories, Jonathan knew that Jimmy's bodyguards were all retired U.S. Special Forces veterans, and they were always armed with firearms and ammunition. Even more importantly, there seemed to be a huge secret buried in James's memories about them!

Since Jimmy had hidden the guns so well, Jonathan had no choice but to go after the bodyguards.

After finding a video recorder in Monica's study, he made his way downstairs, following the directions from his memory. He opened a security door and entered the area where the bodyguards and servants lived.

This place resembled a hotel in general, with a total of six rooms, each marked with a door number.

It was mealtime, so there weren't many people around.

Jonathan carefully tried the door handle of one room, then another, and another—each attempt was unsuccessful.

It wasn't until he reached the fourth room that he heard a dull groan coming from inside, followed by the unmistakable sounds of a man and a woman engaged in carnal activity.

'Oh! fuck me! shit! Oh yeah! …'

'Pop! Snap! Snap! Pop, pop, pop…'
