Percy Jackson and the Art of Gacha

Chapter 39: The Graveborn vs. The Shackleborn

So now that I had my new weapon it was time to try killing Abraxas. Monster Hunter Style.

I began scouting the surrounding area for an ideal place to start pelting him with bullets while still remaining distant. A place that would give me some form of cover with minimal chance to suprise and overwhelm me.

This meant I had to get high up, like the rooftops I was so fond of. I couldn't go much higher than three stories, since it might increase the distance to much while giving the dragon a blind spot to hide in.

I grew out my spider legs to increase my movement and stability when I relocate after firing some bullets.

Then it was time, Abraxas was trotting down the street, sniffing the air for traces of my scent while swinging his head around. I knew, as I observed the dragon, that even though there might be some exposed flesh, it would still be best to begin with an Armor piercing round. Why? Because zombies don't have weak points. It may look like it but the "weak points" are usually just as thick and protected as the rest of their bodies, as it was a survival strategy. "Weak Points were usually in places where the undead could easily reach and even react in a timely manner to either defend said place or capture the offending limb or weapon and bite the attacker.

So I took aim with the dual guns Cinder and Ash. Both were Black in color with red highlights glowing along the handles and barrels. The triggers were made out of black, gleaming bone.

I had positioned myself on a rooftop behind the dragon so that I would have free access to the back of its head. I lowered the guns slightly so that the base of its neck was inside my cross hair. Any amount of piercing damaged that exceed the thickness of its skin and muscle would hinder the dragon everytime it would try to move its head. That was step one.

I fired several bullets within very few seconds. The base of its neck was riddled with small, almost imperceptible holes and blood, dark and sludge like was seeping out of the wounds.

The dragon moved forward, not even noticing the small damage it had received.

U luck for it, I had just achieved the requirement to use the guns ability: Break Defense. For the next ten seconds any defense the dragon had would be gone and blunt damage resistance as well. Any damage I dealt would be trippled in strength.

So I used Switch Mode to change the ammunition into hollow point rounds. They would, when they hit a target with enough resistance, transfer the entirety of their kinetic energy into the enemy, which would be enough to throw a teen on their back. This energy now trippled would atleast be enough to stagger the dragon, get close enough and then switch to shotgun rounds.

And that was exactly what I did. Every second I would fire these bullets, sadly the guns were only semi-automatic, and with every hit pieces of flesh and bones would burst out.

I managed to get close enough to switch to shotgun rounds before the ten seconds were up and fired two rounds into the dragons shoulder joints.

It staggered trying to regain it's balance but I didnt give it time as I switched the guns and changed them into the dual glaive form.

Immediately I used Unbetrayed as I threw the left glaive towards the dragon and was suddenly mere meters away from its Jaws.

It snapped at me but I managed to roll to the side only to be hit by its claws and thrown several meters away.

I blacked out for a second and woke up again, when I was about to hit the ground head first. Instead I activated Layer Travel and descended into the first, the green sun, layer.

I disappeared from the dragons view and it began to look around. No, not nervously, as even the damage I had managed to deal to it just now was not enough to unsettle it.

I moved under its belly, a place the dragon couldn't guard, transformed the weapon into its full glaive form and let myself be launched out of the first layer.

The blade stabbed into the dragons guts and, as I used it's body to launch myself out of the dragons reach, it continued to make a long diagonal cut from slightly above its belly towards its left flank.

I launched away, carried by the gust of wind the dragon had caused when he tried to catch and stomp on me after I had stabbed it.

Then the dragon moved.

I hadn't even reached the peak of my flight path before it was under me, reaching up with it's claws to slash at me and potentially cut me into pieces with a direct hit.

I tuned the glaive into its double Glaive form and used Unbetrayed again. Then I activated Bloodied Countdown and the sky turned black. The moon, as it had apparently become night at some point, was now blood red and the few clouds in the sky had, whileainly black, an unmistakable red outline where they came close to the bloody sickle moon. The dragons blood floated up from the ground and engulfed the blades. I slashed one into the direction of the dragon, making the blood fly towards its back. Then I threw the the right glaive right into its waiting jaw, causing any damage dealt within the next ten seconds to be multiplied by five. The glaive broke through Abraxas teeth and when he closed his maw out of pain, it stabbed him through his lower jaw.

I threw the other glaive, which I still had, towards the ground and teleported, once again with Unbetrayed, to it. There I recalled the other glaive and turned it into the gun forms of Cinder and Ash.

I still had the shotgun rounds equipped which I then used to pelt it's face with. More chunks of flesh and even some bone fragments burst from the impacts but, even if the dragon was stunned and unbalanced, it was still alive. Even though the left side of its face was gone now.

But the ten seconds weren't over yet as I triggered the ability:Burning Blood, which once again caused the chunks of dark and sludge like blood to flow into the magazines of the guns. And then, every bullet that hit Burts out in explosions and fire. The scent of burning flesh soon filled the street but the dragon still stood.

The ten seconds were over now but the dragon was still disoriented and blinded, since I had hit its grey, milky eyes with bullets.

I turned the guns into the full double Glaive and slowly approached the dragon.

Suddenly it lashed out again, faster than ever before and it managed to pierce through my armor and right through my gut. I could feel it's claws hit my spine only to be redirected as neither the spine nor the exoskeleton I had were giving way for it.

It managed to tear a gaping hole through the left side of my torso and everything went numb within seconds.

But I wasn't done, not yet.

I hefted the glaive and activated it's last ability: Blood Moon. And once again the world turned dark, the sickle moon became bloodied and the clouds were illuminated by its glow.

With one final move I stabbed the Glaive into the head of Abraxas, the Grim-Monarch, the Graveborn and then, just as I saw his body drop, the world turned black.
